I Prayed have prayed
Father God, our border is a mess. Please wake our national leaders up to what they can do to help. Please help all those working at the border. Please stem the tide of immigration and help us from heaven.

Last month the news was flooded with images of tens of thousands of Haitians and migrants seeking asylum at our borders. As is the pattern of the news, they have abandoned this story for something deemed more profitable. However, there is very much an ongoing crisis at our borders.

I had the opportunity to hear firsthand from Texas Congressman Tony Gonzales about the details you are not hearing about in the news. Here are the current facts and prayer points for the reality of the border crisis today.

One month after those images at our border in Del Rio, nothing has changed. In fact it seems to have gotten worse. At least 850 migrants a day are coming into the nation. Even though the Biden Administration has decided to reimplement President Trump’s “Remain In Mexico Policy,” we are not likely to see the end of large caravans trying to come into this nation, especially when they are incentivized. Minors and families are encouraged to cross with no consequences. They are resettled and compensated

The impact of the border problems is hitting Texas hard. Governor Greg Abbott has taken action, constructing a makeshift wall made of large shipping containers, hoping to slow the influx of illegal immigrants. Border Patrol agents are parking their vehicles along the Rio Grande river in an attempt to deter illegal crossings.

Detention centers are at maximum capacity. Hospitals and schools are completely overrun and left to deal with the aftermath. At least 5 counties in Texas have declared a national emergency.

Prayer Points:

Congressman Gonzales shared that Border Patrol has had to take soil samples at Del Rio. He described the trash and debris, all of which poses serious health concerns. Adding to that,  thousands of migrants tested positive for Covid. Incidences of tuberculosis and yellow fever have been recorded.

Pray for the people who have been in contact with those infected. Pray for protection from plagues and the healing of the land.

Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. (Ps 91:5-7)

Because detention facilities are overflowing, rather than being at our borders to keep smugglers and traffickers out, a large percentage of Border Patrol is processing immigrants rather than being at the actual border.

Pray for the federal government to cooperate with Border Patrol and send them where they are most needed. Pray for law enforcement and border patrol agents who are feeling overwhelmed.

Hear my cry, O God; attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth I will cry to You, when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. (Ps 61:1,2)

Drug seizures such as fentanyl and meth have increased at the border. Not only has drug smuggling increased, but so has human trafficking. Cartels are profiting off the migrants crossing.

Pray for the federal government to cooperate with Mexican officials. Thank God for the seizures that are happening at the borders. Pray for continued exposure of any and all lawless acts and crimes. Pray that human trafficking rings profiting off the innocent would be exposed as well.

For everything that is hidden will eventually be brought into the open, and every secret will be brought to light. (Mk 4:22)

Because of overflowing facilities and the large numbers of unaccompanied minors, they (minors) are often released from detention centers. After this there is no way to document where they are, making them susceptible to traffickers and other forms of exploitation. Families are often separated. The truth is that we cannot know what happens to those children once they are separated from their families.

Pray for the immigrant minors who are alone and in danger. Pray for children who have been separated–ask God to protect them.

For he will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help. He will take pity on the weak and the needy and save the needy from death. He will rescue them from oppression and violence, for precious is their blood in his sight. (Ps  72:12-14)

We are likely to see things get worse because the current administration is uncooperative. As intercessors, we should be praying with the heart of God. Though there are criminals and those who abuse the immigration system to commit rape, murder, and violence on our land, there are also people and families with pure motives who truly seek asylum.

When I saw the images last month of the Haitians and others crammed at our borders, I began to pray and felt the burden of the Lord. Jesus’ blood was also shed for them as well. The Bible has a lot to say about the way we treat foreigners. As Christians we are always called to show the love of God, to be the hands and feet of Christ to the lost.

Pray for the salvation of those coming into our borders. Pray for those who have been resettled to see Christ through the lives of believers.

For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me . . . (Mt 25:25)

Thus says the Lord of hosts, “Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy to one another, do not oppress the widow, the fatherless, the sojourner, or the poor, and let none of you devise evil against another in your heart.” (Zech 7:9,10)

God invites us to ask Him on behalf of the nations (Ps 2:8). Pray for the nations that true asylum seekers are fleeing from: Haiti, Mexico, South America, Cuba, Afghanistan, etc.

Pray for the nations plagued with war zones, oppression, violence, and disaster. Pray for families and children to enjoy safety again in their homeland. Pray for protection from gangs and peace and stability in the midst of violence.

He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;  he burns the shields with fire. He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Ps 46:9,10)

Keep on praying that this evil attack, purposefully perpetrated on this nation, will get destroyed from on high.
