Praying for the Trump Transition - Live Now Praying for the Trump Transition - Starting Soon
I Prayed have prayed
Lord, we pray for Harris and all those who support her to realize the truth about abortion. Let them see the value and worth of the unborn as You do.

Harris is trying to win over those who oppose abortion, but does she understand who pro-lifers to strongly oppose abortion in the first place?

From The Line of Fire. In a surprising statement during a townhall meeting earlier this month, presidential candidate Kamala Harris said,

“I’ll tell you, there are probably many here and watching who, rightly, have made a decision that they do not believe in abortion. The point that I am making is not about changing their mind about what’s right for them or their family. It’s simply saying the government shouldn’t be making this decision.”

Really? She actually believes that many people have “rightly . . . made a decision that they do not believe in abortion?”

Have you taken your place on the wall?

Then why is she promising to reinstate Roe v. Wade if elected? In her words, she

“will proudly sign back into law the protections of Roe v. Wade, which basically just says, it’s the person’s decision, not the government’s decision. That, in essence, is what’s behind my position.”

Doesn’t this sound reasonable? Abortion is one of the most personal decisions anyone can make, and so, if anything is “not the government’s decision,” it is this.

What Harris failed completely to address is why “many” people “rightly” oppose abortion, namely, because abortion takes the life of another human being. Could anything be more basic than that?

That’s why we have laws against murder and laws against rape and laws against kidnapping.

All of them are transgressions against another person.

That’s also why, more specifically, we have laws against infanticide, even if the baby is intolerable, even if the child has a congenital disease, even if the mother is simply incapable of caring for the little one.

Whatever the case might be, the one thing she (or the father) is not allowed to do is terminate the life of the baby. Obviously. To do so would be to commit murder.

Had Harris simply said, “We don’t believe the fetus has full personhood, and so the government has no right to impose its will on the mother,” that would have been consistent but immoral.

But what she said was this (and I paraphrase): “Yes, many people rightly oppose abortion” – by which, she obviously meant, in their minds, they have good reason to oppose it – “and I’m not trying to change your viewpoint. That’s why we need Roe reinstated. To take this out of the government’s hands and put it in the hands of the mother.”

What she missed, quite incredibly, is that the whole reason we want to put this in the government’s hands is because we believe that abortion commits violence against a preborn child.

To paraphrase again (but with a change of subjects), “Yes, there are many who rightly oppose slavery. That’s why we need to get the ban on slavery reversed, so you can make your choices and others can make theirs.”

This is as nonsensical as her statement on abortion.

Slavery should be prohibited by law because it is a moral evil and abortion should be prohibited by law because it is a moral evil.

In my new book Hearts of Compassion, Backbones of Steel: How to Discuss Controversial Topics with Love and Kindness, I do my best to present compelling arguments for the cultural positions I oppose, seeking to help us respond with more heartfelt, compelling answers.

In the chapter on abortion, I present some agonizing, hypothetical cases, including this:

“Consider the story of a twelve-year-old girl whom we’ll call Angela. She was abducted and raped by a sexual predator who had just been released from jail. Who can imagine her trauma? Who can imagine how this horrific event will impact the rest of her life? And how will it affect her whole family? But this is only the beginning. To add shock to shock, Angela finds out she is pregnant even though she is not even a teenager. How can this be? As for the sexual predator, he raped two more girls before he was caught and will spend the rest of his life in prison.

“The only positive thing is that Angela can get an abortion and put an end to the nightmare, without any of her friends and schoolmates knowing what happened to her. At least the horror can be hidden. At least her shame won’t be broadcast throughout her school and her neighborhood. At least she won’t have to put her young body through the trauma of nine months of pregnancy. At least she won’t have to worry about giving birth to a child whose father was a serial rapist and child abuser. Abortion is obviously the compassionate choice.”

We could say in response, “But cases like this, as unspeakably tragic and evil as this is, are the rarest of rare, with abortions performed because of rape or incest making up one percent of all abortions. What about the other 99 percent?”

That may be true, but it avoids the question at hand: how can anyone outside of this girl and her family make a decision about her life?

In response, I share stories of women who were raped and aborted their babies, only to learn that the abortion didn’t heal the pain. And I tell the stories of some of the finest people on our planet, people who have an incredible amount of good but were conceived in rape.

I can’t do justice to these responses in full here, but they all go back to that same fundamental point: abortion snuffs out a real, human life, a life with unknown potential, however tiny and still-developing it may be.

And that is what Vice President Harris fails to acknowledge in the least. It is a massive moral blind spot.

“Children are an inheritance from the Lord. They are a reward from him. The children born to a man when he is young are like arrows in the hand of a warrior. Blessed is the man who has filled his quiver with them. He will not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the city gate.” [Psalm 127: 3-5 (GW)]

ok, wow, the author assumes only his view on abortion is correct, are we Catholic, is he the pope? The OT is not unequivocal on abortion, and nothing is said on it in the NT. Even if you are totally against abortion, why is it assumed that laws are the only way to reduce the number of abortions in this country, the opposite seems to be true. Democratic, non-legal means, seem more effective in reducing the number of abortions in this country. How about instead of making abortion illegal, we make it unwanted, unnecessary? Everyone posting on this site seems to assume legal means is the only way to reduce abortions, this is wrong. Meanwhile we will keep overlooking Trump’s immorality, not just the past sexual assaults, adultery, felonies, also the recent rhetoric of violence against his political opponents. We are pro-life on here about fetus’ but well, let’s just stay silent about Trump threatening violence against those that oppose him. Pro-life should be about more then abortion, Trump will not recognize the legitimacy of any who disagree with him, that is anti-life.

Dan, you have some legitimate concerns. I personally do know of womens centers who provide assistance and adoption, even housing, for unwanted pregnancies. I’ve had friends who had abortions and lived with terrible pain and regret for the rest of their lives. I have been assaulted and raped, then treated in ER and given an abortofacient medication without my knowledge. Because of our selfish natures, there really are no impediments to crime but by having laws. God began by giving commandments. Left to ourselves we descend into savagery.

Wow, what a compelling response to rhetoric. Thank you for your honesty and truth Maggie.

‘response to rhetoric’ A pro-life Christian woman died this week because of the Texas abortion laws. People are trying to claim the high moral ground while watching Christians die. We don’t care about actually caring for women, really trying to reduce the number of abortions, we really do not want to face facts about this issue, it seems like it is really just about demonizing people we disagree with so we can justify voting Republican. Again, a pro-life Christian woman died this week because of the Texas abortion laws, while people like the author claim the high moral ground. Yeah, I’ll keep up the rhetoric.

Her name is Nevaeh Marie Crain. She didn’t die this week she died on October 29, 2023. The fact is, Texas law allows for life-saving procedures when a mother’s life is at risk. But sure, let’s twist the narrative and blame the law itself instead of examining the specific situations. This is about protecting innocent lives, both mothers and babies, not politicizing tragedy.

Although the Bible does not specifically mention the word abortion, it does speak volumes about the sanctity and value of human life. When we understand that every life is precious to God and is known by God, it gives us a clear understanding on how to view this issue.

Whether you like Trump or not. While in office he stood up for and actively pursued a number of the issues that were important: the sanctity of life, secure borders, criminal reform, free speech, less government regulation and conservative judicial appointments. I can’t name any one of these that a Harris/Walz administration who would be supportive of.

She died because doctors were afraid to give help because of the abortion laws. Space will not allow anyone to discuss the number of ways Trump shows disrespect for the sanctity of life. I find it incredulous that anyone thinks that Trump values others. The Bible truly does begin with declaring humans made in the image of God, thus giving all humans dignity and value. Jesus took that further showing that we are to love even our enemies, show respect for those who hate us. In fact, it seems that Jesus is saying that the sign that we value human life is that we love even our enemies. Trump doesn’t even show love for his friends. How many of his former staff will not endorse him because they know how hateful he is. Trump has just this week talked about not caring if reporters get shot. He has no respect for human life. He takes joy in giving his opponents sick nicknames. Assaulting women shows respect? Trump respects nothing but total allegiance to himself. Harris has pledged to have Republicans as part of her cabinet. You can disagree with her and still have respect. With Trump, if you disagree with him, he has no respect for your safety or your life.

Lord. Please open the eyes of all the people who are pro choice. They don’t
realize that taking a babies life (except for incest, rape and protection of a mother)
goes against Godly principles. Since 1973 with Roe vs. Wade, millions of babies lives
have been taken away. People who are pro life believe in the sanctity and rights
of the babies. What they have now since the Supreme Court’s ruling is that each
state can vote on this whether to go pro choice or pro lie. I hope that every Christian
chooses pro life and helps to save our beautiful babies. In Jesus name. Amen.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that by Your word, You give us wisdom and understanding. You remind us that we can come to You if we lack wisdom in anything. We praise You for this. Jeremiah 1:4-5 Now the word of the LORD came to me, saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” LORD, You make known You are our Creator and the Creator of all life. Every little boy and every little girl created, bears Your personal fingerprint, You established that in the beginning. Please open the eyes and soften the hearts of those whom deny this very truth. Protect each of Your precious little ones and bring them forward. In Jesus’ Mighty name. Amen.

Harris is protecting women’s rights, if a child has reaped by a member of there family the parents have the right to protect their child. If a woman has been sexually abused and stated that she is pregnant she should be able to make decisions. The mega Republican Party is nothing but fraudulent people that do wrong things to women and God knows there mindset. Look at Trump who his a confected criminal and get away with all sorts of crimes. So your abortion retract is not Godly. God his going to judge all of you with abandonment. I’m praying that your institution need to stop working for all the people that tell lies that want to take away our democracy. That’s what we should be praying for. I am in assessor. ordained by God.
