UPDATE: President Trump signed the House-passed funding package last night, officially ending the government shutdown.
After more than 40 days of chaos and uncertainty in Washington, the dawn has finally broken. Late last night, the House passed a spending package to reopen the government, ending the historic shutdown.

The House on Wednesday passed a sweeping spending package to reopen the government, setting the stage to end a marathon shutdown — the longest in U.S. history — that churned economic turmoil around the country and sparked an internal battle among Democrats over the future of the party and how best to take on President Trump.
The vote in the lower chamber was 222-209, almost strictly along party lines. Only two Republicans opposed the measure, to protest deficit spending, while six Democrats hopped the aisle to support it, citing the importance of getting federal funding flowing again.
The legislation survived an 11th-hour revolt from some House Republicans who balked at a provision, inserted by the Senate days earlier, to empower GOP senators to sue the federal government for hundreds of thousands of dollars if they were among the people whose phone records were seized by federal investigators during their probe into the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.
The Hill notes that Speaker Mike Johnson managed to defuse this revolt by promising to introduce a bill to overturn the Senate’s provision. This bill is expected to be voted on next week.
With the 222-209 vote, the House sent the spending package to President Trump’s desk. Although the bill has not yet been signed as of the time of writing, the White House has indicated that the President will sign it into law immediately.
As we have covered on our site, Democrats blocked the House-passed continuing resolution in late September, causing the government to shut down at the beginning of October. For 43 days, Democrats pressured Republicans, aiming to include a renewal of Obamacare tax subsidies in any funding legislation. This past weekend, however, 8 Democratic Senators joined with Republicans to pass a bill without the Obamacare subsidies, upsetting many on the left.
With the shutdown wrapping up, this will likely start returning to normal. Our nation will not, however, get back on track overnight. Let’s pray for our leaders and our federal employees as the work to reopen our government!

I am glad that the government has start to open because it was not fair to mothers that didn’t get pay child support was not good. These women depend on the child support to take of their children. Jesus would not be please with the administration that didn’t care about the innocence and helpless. Jesus said “suffer the little children to come unto him for such is the kingdom of heaven”
JESUS also said that if a man doesn’t work, neither shall he eat! Welfare, government subsidized housing, food stamps are all meant to be an emergency stop-gap for when Americans need help. They were never meant to be permanent as it is the person’s and GOD’S responsibility to take care of HIS and their children. I remember when Bill Clinton as President balanced the budget by removing able-bodied people after a short period of time. To go to work, not government welfare is what is needed more of in America in JESUS NAME! Amen!
Obamacare is evil and does the opposite of what it claims. But then it is just one of the ways that socialism takes over. We need to eliminate obamacare and anything like it and bring God back into all parts of our government and lives. I trust on God. 🙏😇🙏❤️
Yes, I agree with the last post. The Federal Government needs to be primarily for the Defense of the Country militarily, and the defense of Liberty. I fear that the agreement yesterday provided too many added expenses that foster a higher debt and fewer liberties. What did we sacrifice in order to open the government? I will continue to pray for our president and congress to defend our freedoms against the tyranny of government.

Facts:
From 1789 until 1865. The federal government was shut down for 8 to 10 months every year.
From 1865 to 1910 the federal government was shut down for 6 to 8 months every year. It wasn’t until 1930 that the government stayed open 12 months a year.
So don’t tell me we are suffering an emergency or catastrophe. We are actually moving in the right direction!”
Beverly, while I am for a much leaner federal government than we currently have, to not call this shutdown an emergency or catastrophe is ignoring the plight of many people who were dealing with no income, or greatly curtailed income. Not paying legitimate workers their daily wages was strongly condemned by both YHVH and Yeshua.

Thank you, YHVH, for Your faithfulness to us who cry out to You for our nation. Please bless those who cooperated to end this shutdown, instead of continuing to obstruct progress and penalize our citizens for their own selfish agendas. May their names be remembered in heaven for rewards. May voters also remember names and actions, and hold accountable those who did not serve their constituency well, as well as giving support to those who did.
I will pray for the leaders but this is totally off the wall to put American People thorough all of this.
Some familes have had to go without food to feed their children. I think the Senate and the House should not
get paid for the rest of the year and let them struggle as the American People have.

LORD GOD, thank you for moving our government leaders in the right direction. We pray for righteousness to be forever exalted in our nation and evil to continually and forever be rooted out.
