“There’s not enough prevention in schools. Resources are lacking for all types of substance use,” said Sara Lowry, a middle school social worker in northern Virginia whose 17-year-old son, Aiden, died of a fentanyl overdose in December.
Tucker’s Law will provide for fentanyl education for children in grades 6 to 12 across Texas. The bill was a result of advocacy by Texas Against Fentanyl, a nonprofit founded by Stefanie Turner, whose 19-year-old son Tucker died in 2021 from a fentanyl overdose.
Melanie’s Law, making its way through the California legislature, is named after Melanie Ramos, a 15-year-old who died from a suspected fentanyl overdose last September at a Hollywood high school.
“What we all know is that the school-age demographic is getting hit the hardest with this; it’s causing one in five youth deaths in California right now,” said Democratic state Sen. Dave Cortese, the bill’s sponsor.
In Congress, two Coloradoans in the House, Republican Doug Lamborn and Democrat Joe Neguse, introduced in July their Protecting Kids from Fentanyl Act. It would permit states to use money from a $146 million federal grant to educate children and provide training and the opioid overdose reversal drug naloxone to school employees. …

Heavenly Father, we seek Your wisdom and help in times of trouble. We praise You that You are faithful to hear and answer our plea. You are the God who delivers us, so speak Your word of deliverance over every man, woman and child enticed by fentanyl or any other illicit drug. Break every stronghold of Satan and destroy his dominion of darkness upon this nation. Fill every downtrodden heart with the hope of Christ, remove every oppressive spirit, fill every void with Holy Spirit’s counsel, God’s enduring words of encouragement and the peace of Christ. Replace every desire for drugs with the desire of salvation and let revival come! In Jesus’ all powerful name. Amen.

Oh dear Lord please save our children from the fentanyl drug that is so terribly available. I ask that there be an answer from you Lord concerning the southern border. Please help this country’s Congress come up with a brilliant plan to control the immigration fiasco we have, which has resulted in the flow of fentanyl into our country and caused much availability for our children to get it. I pray for your answer for the enormous problems we have, please guide us here through righteous leadership. Only you can rescue us. Please help our children! And turn us from our sin to you. I don’t know how to pray anymore. 🙏
Thank You, LORD, for having given us ALL the tools we need to be uprooting these things that are direct attacks from our enemies. You have given us Your armor, Your strategic battle plan, Your wisdom, and Your promises of protection in defeating these battles. May our ears and eyes continue to be open to do Your will.
We need to stop the flow of fentanyl into this nation. Allowing for this dangerous drug to freely flow into our nation is completely wrong and unacceptable. Lord Jesus, please make a way where there seems to be no way.

You have said in Your Word Lord GOD, Isaiah 54:17 “No weapon formed against you will prosper.” and Fentanyl is a deadly weapon. However, Your promise to Your people, to those who have placed their faith in Your Beloved Son, The Lord Jesus Christ, is that You will warn us of every danger. Therefore, Father, we pray for revival that more and more people would come to faith in You that they might have ears to hear Your warnings and stay safe from all the devil’s schemes that bring destruction including deadly fentanyl. In Jesus Name and for Your Glory Father, I ask this. Amen.

It’s important to distinguish between illicit fentanyl and rx fentanyl. The overdoses are from illicitly made fentanyl. People should not be made terrified of fentanyl. Let’s pray for this truth to come to light, as many patients need rx fentanyl, alongside others.
Yes, there is therapeutic fetanlyn used by cancer/pain patients and sadly now it’s often easily mistaken for “illicit drugs.” I pray pain patients no longer are subjected to discrimination and recieved the care needed. I also pray that those suffering from addiction are able to access services for rehabilitation and are not denigrated for the mental illness that is substance abuse disorder/addiction.
