A survey given to all Austin Independent School District students in grades 3-11 this spring told children “Sex is what a person is born. Gender is how a person feels.” It then asked students to select whether they feel they are a “girl/woman,” “boy/man,” or “identify in some other way.” That was followed by a blank box for students to “describe how you identify.”
The Federalist obtained a copy of the survey through an open records request. The full survey is here, and a screenshot of the gender identity question below.
An AISD Student Climate Survey, which included the question this year, has been administered every year to students in grades 3-11 since the 2003-04 school year, district spokeswoman Samantha Alexander told me by email. Texas’s fifth-largest district supervises more than 83,000 children, according to federal data. Assuming an even distribution across grade levels, that means some 57,000 children took this survey this year. . . .
Yet “whether it’s comprehensive sex education or a survey, if you’re bringing stuff like that [sexuality] up you are potentially creating upset or conflict or just planting the idea” in young minds that may not be developmentally ready for it, said pediatrician and education researcher Karen Effrem in a phone interview about Austin’s survey. Research suggests that simply asking questions about specific behaviors, such as teen suicide or drug use, increases those behaviors. . . .
School climate surveys like Austin’s received a boost from the Republican-re-engineered Every Student Succeeds Act, the most comprehensive federal law regarding K-12. It updated No Child Left Behind in 2015. The revamp included allowing states to show “accountability” to the federal government on non-objective criteria such as children’s “socioemotional learning” (SEL). . . .
Special interest groups have been pushing for variations on the SEL idea for decades on the basis that schools can and should substitute for parents in shaping children’s character traits, social dispositions, and feelings. . . .
One of the major problems with relying on semi-psychological assessments like these school climate surveys is that they are extremely unreliable, said Effrem, the Pioneer report’s coauthor, in a phone interview.
“Even surveys and psychological screenings and things that are done by psychiatrists, highly trained psychiatrists, have enormously high false positive rates,” she said. “A lot of the self-report surveys are prone to bias and prone to the kids answering the way they think they should answer… So I don’t really care who does the survey, having them done at all and dealing with really controversial or subjective topics like feeling safe or gender identity, just isn’t a good idea.” . . .

If one does not know who he/she is physically, how would he ever come to know who he is in Christ. In the beginning God created male and female, and He doesn’t make mistakes since He knew us before we were formed in our mother’s womb. The devil’s antics are to disrupt and confuse, and cause chaos. He is the biggest identity thief there is. Moms and Dads, if you want your children to succeed in life, they must know who and whose they are and where they are headed in life.
Dear Father God,
I pray that you cause the parents to rise up and come against this evil that is taking place with their children in the schools. Let their voices be heard as they stand for Your truth and not the lies of the evil ones. We know that You have the last word and that you give the authority of training children into the hands of the parents and not the school. Rise up and be strong and throw off this evil assault on our precious children. In Jesus Name, I pray.
Children are highly sensitive to the approval of adults. I saw a video of where two male-female parents were raising their children, one boy, one girl, to be free of sexist expectations. In one scene, the little boy was given a bow to put in his hair. I could see him looking at his parent for assurance as he placed the bow in his hair. Little boys raised at large in our society know that bows are generally for girls, so what is the parents’ point? There’s a difference between giving children free choice when they express an interest and conditioning them to follow the parents’ political agenda. Another example is Charlize Theron’s son, who at three years old, announced he was a girl. Theron is a major activist for LGBQT, so it makes sense that by three years old her child would figure out the best way to gain parental attention and approval. God is not the author of confusion. Psalm 19:7: “The law of the LORD is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.” God wants us to raise our children on a rock, not upon the sand. I pray that our country will see that gender fluidity is not the answer to sexism, that exposing children to sexual activities does not protect them from predators but is itself predation. I pray that God protects the mind and body of every little child, for each child to maintain the innocence and trust that makes them the “for of such is the kingdom of Heaven.” Amen.
Lord we pray first for the perverts who came up with this because their punishment is clear in your Word. Lead them to repentance. Help the parents of all the children who are the innocent victims of this onslaught to know how to defend their childrens’ souls. We pray against the spirit of passivity which may cause some to ignore what is happening. We also bind on earth the spirit of lust and loose Your Righteousness upon this nation and the rest of the world, in Jesus Name , Amen !
Oh Heavenly Father,
May a title wave of your love and righteousness cover the nations schools at every level. May those trying to manipulate and ruin children’s innocence and decency and original design be awakened in the middle of the night season and see Our Lord and have such a change of heart and awakening that He is Light and there is no darkness in HIM! 🙏💜

Amen! The Bible account of “Legion”/Gaderene demoniac addresses this as well. We are the change agents in the earth. We r created in “our image and likeness.” What does that look like? Omniscient, omnipotent, & omnipresent! That’s who & Whose we are! Powerful in love from w/n.
Satan loves to distort the truth. He has done it since the Garden of Eden, before any evil was in the world. His goal is to deceive, and then enslave. Father God, place a hedge of protection around these impressionable children. Lead and guide their families to share Your Truth about sex and gender. May Christian students have a strong voice in the schools and be a positive influence on their peers. Lord, we need Your grace and mercy, and also Your correction. Help us stand against this satanic evil, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Father, Hear our prayers for our children, grandchildren, and all future generations. May they come to know the Truth and not be taught the lies of the devil. You tell us not to cause any of our children to fall, but that is what we see happening in our schools. Help us to turn from this wicked way and seek Your Way that our land will be healed and set free to worship You as we were created to do. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen
Lord, Amen to all the prayers already posted here. Lord how long suffering you are! We know you will not always stay your wrath! Give us strength to withstand the punishment that must befall this nation if we don’t REPENT! God, the children are so precious to you, we pray you protect their minds that they be not decieved by these foolish adults, but that these young students will be empowered to throw off this perverse ideology.
Father – turn the hearts of Austin, Texas back to You! Direct them to Your righteous ways – protect the youth there and clear the minds and hearts of the people who hate You by questioning Your ways and Your creation. Fill their hearts and minds with Your Word and Your commandments. Save our nation, Father, raise up a standard against the evil in our states individually and as a whole – one nation under God! The only God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob! We cry out to You Father – those who are called by Your mighty Name. Those of us who love You and serve You and call out evil for what it is. Thank You for hearing our cry and defending Your goodness and Your faithfulness, in Jesus Name, amen!
The bible says the heart is wicked and deceitful above all things. We are not to rely on our feelings but on the Word of God, the instruction book for emotional and spiritual well being as defined by the Lord. We need to leave the training to the parents and the church. Mans opinions are so low in comparison with Gods truth. Why would you trust your child to a governmental system and “teachers” who are not equipped for this psychological destruction? Let them teach them”subject” matter trained for and not go beyond. Praying this is corrected in Jesus Name
