I Prayed have prayed
Lord we ask that there would be a fair hearing at the Supreme Court.
Reading Time: 4 minutes

[Editorial Note: The Supreme Court will be hearing the issue whether or not the federal government can add the citizenship question on the 2020 census. The President and the Trump Administration states that knowing how many legal citizens are in each city, state and district is an important metric. Liberals do not want illegals to have to identify themselves. Pray for a hearing at the Supreme Court that will allow our government to find out all of the truth of what our citizenry is comprised of.]

The census is used to distribute nearly $1 trillion in government programs, to apportion political power, and to divide the country into racial blocs. Is it any wonder why the organized left is so interested in the census that it took the Trump administration to court over it? A coalition of ethnic based liberal organizations won a big court victory in last month when Judge Jesse Furman of the Southern District of New York ruled in their favor that a question on citizenship cannot be asked in the 2020 decennial census.

The battle, however, is not over. The Trump administration late last month took the unusual step of going directly to the Supreme Court to review the decision. Here is hoping it does, and that it overturns the decision. The judge agreed with the organizations that asking about citizenship would reduce the count of the group the census designates as hispanics, though the evidence on that is slim. We must also stop the rising use of national injunctions by district courts. As Justice Clarence Thomas once said, “If their popularity continues, this court must address their legality.”

Much more importantly, the district court ruling ratifies a trend in society toward ethnic based victimization claims and away from patriotic solidarity. In the opinion, the judge found that the census can inquire into the age, sex, race, and ethnicity of the resident, but not into the one thing that colorblind government should care about, which is who is a member of the polity and who is not. The judge expressed adulation for the four organizations that sued the federal government, calling the plaintiffs “deeply committed to a laudable mission of increasing political participation, promoting civic engagement, and advancing the interests of immigrant communities, especially immigrant communities of color.”

The supposed undercount of “particularly noncitizens and hispanics” who would be “less likely to participate in the census for fear that the data could be used against them and their loved ones,” would thus “translate into a loss of political power and funds, among other harms, for various plaintiffs.” Leave aside the irony that the Census Bureau itself pretty much created the “hispanic” collectivity when it included it for the first time in the 1980 census. It now appears that the victimhood ideology that the government was contributing to igniting then is now being used to fill the coffers of the liberal organizations that have long been its beneficiaries.

When activists were trying to create an official hispanic bloc in the 1970s, they had a definitional problem of what to base it on. Was it surnames? Race? Ability to speak Spanish? None were of these sufficient. Congress, though, had an answer. It was victimhood and its twin sister grievances. Public Law 94-311, the only statute in our history to define an ethnicity, held back in 1976 that a “large number of Americans of Spanish origin or descent suffer from racial, social, economic, and political discrimination.” The goal of this law was “to implement an affirmative action program.”

The process redrew the imaginary borders of mutual loyalty. Up until the 1960s, the main Mexican American organizations saw themselves as part of the entire nation, and felt “pride in the United States” in the words of the University of California researchers at the time. Only citizens could be members. Thereafter, a coterie of new organizations included some other people inside the circle of trust, such as legal immigrants who refused to naturalize, illegal ones who could not, and guest workers. As the historian Mario Garcia put it clearly, the new organizations “called for ethnic unity transcending citizenship.” The slogan became “todo por la raza,” meaning “everything for the race.” The term “hispanic” was then added to the mix.

The new groups now vie to take as much as possible of the more than $800 billion in funding that the federal government allocates every year based on census data. The organized left of the plaintiffs in the case are heirs of this new tradition. The four plaintiffs are the New York Immigration Coalition, Make the Road New York, Casa de Maryland, and the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee along with its research institute. Influence Watch has done a great job looking into these organizations.

Take Make the Road New York. It has strong ties to groups that promote immigration expansion, labor union issues, and liberal causes, and to Mayor Bill de Blasio and other far left New York personalities. Government grants make up nearly 40 percent of its revenue. Consider the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, founded by former Senator James Abourezk and liberal activist James Zogby, who now heads the Sanders Institute that was created by Senator Bernie Sanders. The American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee also formed a partnership with the Council of American Islamic Relations, an anti-Israel group, several years ago.

Then there is Casa de Maryland, which organizes political demonstrations, including against the immigration policies proposed by President Trump. Its executive director worked for a Sandinista paper in Nicaragua and years ago attended a conference in Venezuela where the main event was a panel discussion on a possible revolution in the United States, according to data from Influence Watch. The Venezuelan state oil company Citgo Petroleum also donated $1.5 million to Casa de Maryland back in 2008.

Ultimately it is up to the Supreme Court whether to overturn this ruling, and with it perhaps the divisive census trend of the past half century.

Heavenly Father,
May the holy spirit of unity cover this nation as the water covers the seas. Put to silence the enemy that rages, the plans of the wicked and the thoughts that stew in reprobate minds to destroy this nation. Encourage and strengthen Your righteous to put on their full armor of God that we may conquer the enemy in our midst. Unity! “For a nation divided against itself cannot stand.” Hear our prayer Oh Lord and grant us your peace! Amen.

Heavenly Father,
You are our Judge, Lawgiver and King (Isaiah 33:22). You know what is happening in our Supreme Court today. Please save us from the enemies of our nation who want to rule by emotion, political correctness and intrigue rather than truth and justice and law. You are the One who established the borders of our nation and our appointed time, as Paul preached in Acts 17:26, 27, so that we would seek You, grope for You and find You. This nation is Yours and we need Your help protecting it for Your glory and the spreading of Your gospel worldwide.
We, Your church, have sinned and gone astray and allowed the enemy to work chaos in out nation. Forgive us, our Father in the name of Your perfect Son Jesus, and help us today. Help these attorneys for our nation who are presenting their case today. Lord Jesus, please stand before these attorneys today and rebuke Satan and his case against them and our nation, as you did in Zechariah 3 when Satan was accusing Joshua before You. Lord Jesus, give our attorneys Your perfect wisdom and insight that sees below the surface as they present the case today at the Supreme Court. May you exalt the lawyers and justices who honor You today by upholding truth and may You put down those are dishonoring You with worldly wisdom which is foolishness in Your eyes. Give the Supreme Court justices courage to do what they know is right from the truth and the historical precedence of our God-fearing ancestors.
We stand in Your full armor and say NO to Satan’s schemes and agenda for our nation. We hold up our shield of faith against the fiery arrows he is sending against our Supreme Court justices and the opposing lawyers. Lord Jesus, confuse mouths which are speaking lies and open blinded eyes in that courtroom today. Pull down pride and self-righteousness, O Lord, and exalt godly wisdom that is pure, peaceable, gentle and reasonable, merciful and steadfast and without hypocrisy (James 3:17). We bless those who are enemies in the court today, as You told us to do, because You want them to turn from foolishness and be saved.
Thank You, Holy Father, for hearing us. Your kingdom come and Your will be done in that courtroom today and across our nation as it is in heaven.
In Jesus mighty Name. Amen.

Father God I ask that you be with the attorneys representing our nation right now as they prepare to present their case this morning. I plead the precious blood of Jesus over them to provide the physical, mental and spiritual strength they need to present an irrefutable case. As Jesus told His disciples “you will be brought before kings and governors for my name’s sake. 13 This will be your opportunity to bear witness. 14 Settle it therefore in your minds not to meditate beforehand how to answer, 15 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict” may this very work of His Holy Spirit operate in and through our attorneys. And Father I pray these very same blessings over each Supreme Court Justice — may they have eyes to see and ears to hear Truth and I bind every lying spirit and thought and all opposition from operating in and through them. I plead the blood of Jesus over the opposing attorneys and against every word, thought, and effort of theirs to weaken and destroy our nation — May every demonic weapon formed against our nation be condemned, thwarted and demolished in the Name Above All Names Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Father I pray that You will dispatch Your ministering, warring angels to stand beside our attorneys and give them supernatural power and assistance and to thwart the enemies of our nation in that courtroom. Thank You Father for everything You will do to bring justice and preserve this nation in this matter. And thank You for preserving this nation for those of us who love and appreciate it and our founding values and governmental principles. In Jesus’s Name Amen.

Lord, I pray that the Supreme Court follow Your Will, which I pray will be to support returning the census back to asking questions about citizenship. I do not understand why we should be made to feel ashamed of wanting to know who is invested in our country and who is not. When 911 occurred, I was teaching in a primarily Hispanic school. The day after, the children came back to school and told me that their parents were saying that if there was a war, they would go back to Mexico. That woke me up to the difference between those who love our country and those who just want to use it. Lord, You have taught us through Your actions what love and faithfulness are. Your Son chose to die for us and You helped Him make the sacrifice. There are many Hispanics who have died
fighting for our country. I pray that their sacrifice not be forgotten or demeaned as we confront the problems of illegal immigration from Mexico. Lord, show us the way to justice and give us the strength to stand up for the land of milk and honey that You have given us, to share it with those who are worthy and to protect it from those who would destroy it, whether from within or without. We need You, Lord, and we are starting to realize that more and more. Let this realization grow into revival. Help us to safeguard the nation You have given us, even as our ultimate allegiance is to You and only You. Amen.

Our God is a righteous Judge and He will give wisdom to those that call upon Him for wisdom. I pray that our Supreme Court Justices will stand in the light of God’s wisdom and make a decision that upholds the rule of law that only citizens of the United States of America have the right to vote in our nation’s elections and have representation in Congress, as well as federal appropriations for citizens only in the appropriate states of our Union. God, give our Supreme Court justices wisdom today as they hear the attorneys state their cases and let righteousness prevail so that our nation is protected and continues to stand with God in His righteousness! God’s will be done today on earth as in heaven! Always remember that heaven is a sovereign area that is only entered by those that have the right to be called citizens according to the Most High! There names are in the Book of Life. I believe this serves as a model for how our country should be. Remember, just as heaven allows more citizens legally, so does our country allow citizens…legal citizens!

Thank you Lord for divine order which you establish as a precondition to much of your important business. You required the Israelites to sanctify themselves prior to your visitation on Mt.
Sinai. You sent your messenger John the Baptist to make straight the paths of the Lord prior to beginning the public ministry of
the Lord Jesus Christ. Restoration of lawfulness in the U.S. courts, instead of District Court vetoes of Presidential orders,
without reference to facts, is an aspect of divine order. Thank you Lord that divine order encompasses much more than jurisprudence, but judicial work in a nation state based on the rule of law is vital. As we have departed from you, O holy One,
the integrity of our societal systems which should protect us; fail because they reflect our corruption. Only you can change these dire trends. Restore judicial lawfulness and work your will in the census case 4/23/19, I pray.

Father in Heaven, we ask your mercy toward America in this Census issue. Your Word says, “The king’s heart (referring to all in governmental authority) is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.” Prov. 21:1. If your people pray, You will give those in authority Your thoughts, your words, and cause their hands to act according to Your Will. Please turn the hearts of the Supreme Court judges to accomplish Your Will, according to Your Word and according to the United States Constitution which is based on Your Word. Give all a holy fear of You, knowing that, “They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.” Prov. 28:4 In Jesus precious Name we ask and thank You, Amen.

Dear Lord God Almighty thank You for everything. Thank You for prayer. Lord may Your will be done concerning the census issue. If people consider themselves Hispanics and want government funding and services they should be tax payers and citizens contributing to our society. Lord may the Supreme Court choose the right decision concerning this situation. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
