As illegal immigration continues to concern many Americans, Oklahoma is trying to pass a “Texas-style” law to protect its own borders.

From Tulsa World. A Texas-style immigration bill passed through the House on Thursday without any of the amendments put forward by House Democrats.

The measure passed by a vote of 77-20.

House Bill 4156, which was authored by Speaker of the House Charles McCall, R-Atoka, and Senate President Pro Tem Greg Treat, R-Oklahoma City, does not have to follow the normal legislative process. It may now be scheduled for a vote on the Senate floor. …

Floor Leader Jon Echols, R-Oklahoma City, presented the bill in the House on Thursday. The House debated the bill for almost two hours, with Echols responding to questions from House Democrats.

“Anyone saying that there is not an illegal immigration crisis in our state and nation is simply ignoring reality,” Echols said in a statement after the vote. “This is a common sense piece of legislation that allows Oklahoma to protect our citizens and our state borders while also preemptively signaling to those in our country illegally that they should choose another state to migrate to.”

The bill would legally define “impermissible occupation” as when a person “willfully and without permission enters and remains in the State of Oklahoma without having first obtained legal authorization to enter the United States.”

Impermissible occupation would be a misdemeanor upon first offense, punishable by a fine of up to $500, imprisonment in a county jail for up to a year, or both. The person would also be required to leave Oklahoma within 72 hours of the date and time specified on a written order. After that the person would be prohibited from reentering the state.

The second offense would be a felony, punishable by imprisonment in a state prison for up to two years, a fine of up $1,000 or both. The second offense also would require the person to leave the state within 72 hours. …

I pray that this law would become effective immediately to protect the Oklahoma borders. It goes without saying that our borders need protection against the onslaught of illegal influx. The immigration crisis has spilled over into most of our nation and is totally out of control, yet the Biden administration refuses to do anything about it. It is up to each state to protect themselves and implement their own protection laws. I applaud Oklahoma legislation for standing up and protecting their citizens with this Impermissible Occupation law. Other states should adopt this common sense piece of legislation to also protect their citizens. At this point, it is the only sensible thing left to do. I’m praying to God it is not too late to save our country from this horrendous situation.

Thank you, Lord there are states bringing accountibility back to immigration. Move all our states to do the same and bring the Federal Government to bring accountibility to immigration. Let it regain the common sense it lost 4 years ago. Separate the criminals, gang members, slavers and drug trade participants from the families truly in need. Bring those causing the irrisponsibity in our immigration system to be brought to justice. Use this terrible situation to glorify your name and bring many to Jesus. Amen

Colorado governor recently signed legislation. The city of Denver is Broke. The mayor said they subsidized 41,000 migrants over the past two years at the expense of Colorafo special need as citizens who need benefits.
The Fed has no funds to help and many migrants are protesting they need more. How unfortunate that these people were lied to about the American dream. That dream means working 60/70 hours a week at minimum wage And living with 3 or 4 others with marginal income just to pay rent on a 2 bed apartment. What used to be college living is now standard for millions. AND no health care..etc.
