The measure, HB 1291, prohibits programs, courses, and curricula in teacher training from “distorting” historical events or promoting political ideologies regarding race, sex, and gender.

Accredited postsecondary institutions can seek Florida Department of Education approval to create institutes to educate teachers on improving classroom instruction and meeting requirements for certification or recertification. …

However, teacher preparation, training, and certification programs will not be allowed to teach “identity politics” or to make claims that systemic racism, sexism, oppression, or white privilege are inherent in America’s culture.

In addition, Gov. DeSantis’s office said in a statement that he is working with Attorney General Ashley Moody’s office to safeguard Florida’s workforce from being subjected to ideological discrimination and harassment.

The governor said he does not believe that companies have the right to force their employees to attend training courses designed to convince them that they are “inherently racist or sexist” or to diminish their sense of self-worth because of their religious or social upbringing. …

The law becomes effective on July 1. …

I believe that this is an excellent law in theory. My only hope is that the Florida Institutions that train teachers will abide by this new law. I also question the ability of Florida government officials to enforce and monitor compliance to this new law?

Father, the One who Answers prayers of those who belong to You,
I ask that You, the God of our LORD Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, give Gov. DeSantis, his family, staff and all involved in the operation and oversight of this state the Spirit of Wisdom and revelation, so that they may know You better. . I pray that the eyes of their hearts be enlightened in order that they may know the hope to which You have called them, the riches of Your glorious inheritance in Your holy people, and Your incomparably great power for them. I pray they may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of You, Elohim. (Ephesians 1:17 -___ )

Father, thank You for the courage, steadfastness, culture, boldness and hope they bring to this state. I thank You for Your love, grace and mercy.

I ask in the blessed and Holy Name of Jesus. Amen.

I am a Florida resident now for almost 20 years. And Gov. DeSantis is the best Governor we’ve had. I pray more states follow his example. Work should be about getting the job done, not fear of losing your job because you don’t agree. School should be about Academics. I don’t want my grandchildren fluent in all things Lgbtq, Blm, Communism, protesting, rebellion and entitlement. Give them a real education. Keep the men out of girls EVERYTHING! And bring prayer back into these institutions. We cannot do it right, without Jesus.

I think that pushing the idea that “systemic-” any-“ism” is inherent to a culture is a diversion from the concept that we can learn from the mistakes that we make, and therefore make the effort to NOT repeat those same kind of mistakes in the future. As “mankind”, certainly we have a “sin-nature” that we have to continually deal with’ however, as followers of God, He has given us a pathway of faith in His ability to help us choose to live our lives differently. “Through God, all things are possible.” For someone to drill “systemic ____-ism” into our heads is pushing to make us disbelieve the promises of God and the hope for the plans and purposes that He has for us to become better at representing Him and His message in the midst of our culture and unto others in the world. Even in the ‘battle to change our culture”, keep your prayers ascending – and hold tight to the notion that, “With God, ALL things are possible.”

Bravo Governor! Wish the Democratic Governor in my state was less wimpy and understood how making his constituents feel diminished is wrong.
