The nation’s largest socialist organization is preparing to unveil an ambitious new policy platform that would fundamentally alter the structure of the U.S. government, proposing changes that would eliminate one chamber of Congress while dramatically reshaping the executive and judicial branches.

The updated vision from the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) comes as the organization enjoys growing political momentum, with a string of recent electoral victories by candidates it has endorsed. The group’s expanding influence has sparked renewed scrutiny of its long-term goals and the direction of the progressive movement within American politics.

According to a source familiar with the DSA’s planning, the organization plans to roll out an update next week to its long-term vision for a U.S. policy platform. The update includes eliminating the U.S. Senate and replacing the president and the Supreme Court with an executive branch and judiciary chosen by and subordinate to Congress.

Once considered a fringe movement on the Democratic Party’s progressive wing, the DSA has been gaining relevance, with several of its members toppling longtime establishment party figures. This has prompted many to speculate that the DSA represents the Democratic Party’s future.

While the DSA has endorsed the likes of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., perhaps the most prominent member of the group is New York City socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani. Mamdani, an immigrant from Uganda, burst onto the national consciousness this year after he defeated former Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo in 2025.

In addition to sweeping constitutional reforms, the proposal reportedly calls for major changes to immigration policy, labor laws, healthcare, and criminal justice, reflecting the organization’s broader push to transform the nation’s political and economic systems.

If adopted, the proposal would replace America’s current separation of powers with a system in which Congress exercises significantly greater authority over the executive and judicial branches. The platform would also reportedly include amnesty for all immigrants and a proposal to defund what the organization calls the Department of War.

The organization’s rising profile has been fueled by a growing list of electoral successes. While the DSA has long backed prominent progressive lawmakers, its influence has expanded well beyond congressional endorsements in recent election cycles.

Since Mamdani’s victory, additional DSA-backed candidates have continued to notch primary wins, including Melat Kiros in Colorado and Darializa Avila-Chevalier in New York, both of whom defeated incumbent Democratic members of Congress. Those victories have strengthened the organization’s confidence as it seeks to expand its influence at every level of government.

The DSA has characterized itself as a “working-class alternative to the Democratic Party,” arguing after its recent primary victories that socialism offers the best solution to what it describes as decades of capitalist mismanagement in the United States. The group has also said its newly elected officials will prioritize working-class interests over incremental political reforms.

Beyond the structural overhaul of the federal government, the DSA’s existing platform calls for an immediate end to deportations, fewer immigration restrictions, expanded voting rights for noncitizens and people with criminal convictions, Medicare for All, universal rent control, elimination of cash bail, cancellation of student loan debt, and a 32-hour workweek without reductions in pay or benefits.

Its broader 2025-2026 agenda also envisions replacing the current constitutional framework with what it describes as a new democratic constitution featuring proportional representation under a single federal legislature, underscoring the organization’s long-term objective of fundamentally redesigning the American system of government.

Let us pray against the dark forces behind the Democratic Socialists of America that would seek to undermine American liberty and America’s Christian values. Socialism and communism are anti-Christian, so we must take a stand against them. Let’s pray for God’s protection of the United States against these groups, that none of their policies would ever be put into action, that the Lord would put their counsels and plans to confusion, and that socialist candidates will not win anymore elections.
