On Tuesday, Congressional Republicans and Democrats refused to compromise. Not even a meeting with the President could change the minds of both parties’ leaders. And so, when the clock struck midnight, the government shut down once again.
Pray for your fellow intercessor.
As of the time of this article’s writing, the shutdown is still going strong. Lawmakers sought to bring an end to the chaos Wednesday, though Senate Democrats once again refused to compromise.

Neither Republicans nor Democrats blinked less than 24 hours into a government shutdown as an attempt to pass a government funding extension failed again Wednesday.
Despite Republican leaders signaling confidence that more Democrats would cross the aisle, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and his caucus blocked the GOP’s continuing resolution (CR) for the third time with a 53-45 vote.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., plans to bring the same bill to the floor again and again in a bid to crank up pressure on Senate Democrats. The Senate is expected to leave town on Thursday to observe Yom Kippur but will return Friday to continue voting. In order to advance the bill, Thune needs at least 60 votes to smash through the Senate filibuster.
Earlier this months, the House passed a continuing resolution to fund the government through late November. It is this same CR that Fox refers to in its article. Despite pleading, negotiating, and some bipartisan efforts, Democrats have now kept this CR from passing three times, leaving the shutdown with no end in sight.
Democrats are reportedly seeking an extension to Obamacare tax credits. Republicans, including the President, have accused them of seeking healthcare for illegal immigrants, a characterization that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has vehemently rejected.
Meanwhile, while lawmakers duke it out on the Hill, the shutdown is harming average, everyday Americans. In a separate article, Fox breaks down how the shutdown will impact some key areas:
- Social Security: Americans will continue to receive social security checks, although thousands of Social Security Administration employees are expected to be furloughed.
- Air travel: Like the SSA, the Federal Aviation Administration is expected to furlough over 10,000 employees. Air traffic controllers will continue to come in to work, but they won’t receive payment until the government opens again. Fox notes this could lead to flight disruptions.
- Military and veterans: Roughly 45% of the military’s civilian personnel will be furloughed. Active duty servicemembers will be required to report to work without pay. VA benefits, such as healthcare, pensions, and housing benefits, will continue to be delivered.
- Infrastructure projects: Fox notes that about $18 billion in infrastructure projects in New York City will be paused for the duration of the shutdown.
- Healthcare: Americans will continue to benefit from Medicare and Medicaid throughout the shutdown, though Fox notes it may be harder for Americans to resolve billing disputes or take advantage of telehealth services.
- Food stamps and nutritional benefits: The Department of Agriculture confirmed that food stamps will continue to be available for the most needy, at least for the time being. The majority of the Department’s employees could be furloughed, however, which would likely lead to disruptions and delays for Americans.
As many federal employees go without work, the Trump administration will be working hard in the midst of the shutdown. As revealed in a recent Daily Signal article shared by IFA, the White House’s budget office told federal agencies prior to the shutdown to “aggressively slash jobs and programs.”
As the shutdown continues, let’s pray for wisdom for our leaders, and for God’s will to be done.

If this shutdown is like all those previous, “working without pay” means only that pay will be delayed until a budget is passed. Other than furloughs, nothing changes. Seniors, military, pensioners, and all other retained government employees in “non-discretionary” positions (mandated) will received their full pay when the government reopens.
My prayer is that wickedness and evil will be rooted out of government through this shutdown. Until that happens, Lord may the shutdown continue.
Lord Father, please provide peace around the world and fill our hearts and minds with love for everyone. I pray we can all be more like you and that your will be done not ours! May your presence fill the thought process of our leaders so that they will use good judgment while making decisions for our country. Father, I pray all this is your precious holy name AMEN
Father, may the shutdown be ended soon. Protect those who have to work but will not receive pay. May our Senators see the need to end the shutdown without putting in expending more money. We cannot continue as a nation to raise the debt time after time. Enough of that. Give our leaders wisdom to see that and a desire to balance our budget, hard as that may be.
So, where do I see that the congressmen, senators, and representatives will also not be paid during this shutdown??? That should be the first line of defense against the shutdown!!!

Last night(Thursday), alarming dream from God I strongly believe
* I was standing waist-deep in the sea and just off shore.
*I looked up in the sky, saw this very large passenger aircraft falling from the sky–falling straight down headed into the sea.
* I was terrified-about to crash into the sea near me. I moved to the side so it wouldn’t hit me then started crying out for mercy, over and over for the plane and passengers
** Didn’t see it crash into sea, so believe God answered cry for mercy but I believe that was a temporary reprieve and we need to continue to cry for God’s
-Awake & Seeking I assumed the plane represented a large church or ministry. On seeking Lord in Holy Spirit, I believe instead it represents our beloved United States and the dangers we face from the shutdown far more serious than shutdown of goverment services — possibly part of the planned threat from within that President Abraham Lincoln warned of. He’d said our nation was too strong to be destroyed by foreign military invading our nation from the outside BUT only possible from within if we “commit national suicide.”
***To make clear, am NOT saying that WILL happen but that the Lord is very likely/possibly warning His intercessors in advance so that as we pray and war in the Spirit, He can manifest deliverance and victory.
*And further to make clear, Paul the apostle makes clear that regarding prophetic words, that unlike Scripture, we only “see in part.” So we need a balance of
test to NOT automatically reject it NOR to blindly accept it but to “test everthing.(1 Corin 13, 2 Thes 5:17-21)
**Then I recalled before the above dream scene with falling passenger aircraft, that there was an earlier dream scene with a man who had been rejected by many. So in the dream, I went to his residence to try to find him. It was night, very dark outside. The front door was white colored, classical in appearance and very solid.
Awake I realized it looked like a British Prime Minister’s House at 10 Downing Street which seemed odd. Then I remembered the many parallels between President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in World War 2.
This not said as political statement.
But briefly a few points: both men at first were despised by even members of their own party and no one expected their rise to lead their nation. And both men, while many other political leaders of their day just wanted to just ignore or make peace with evil, both men instead recognized the danger and often stood alone to oppose it.
Likewise our government and nation I believe clearly faces threats from within far more than extremist-leftist politics and massive national debt but certain global criminal elements whose tyrant and terrorist leaders find a strong United States an impediment/obstacle to their ruthless global ambitions.
And the Lord has not given us a spirit of fear but His spiritual power and divine Heavenly weapons to expose and demolish any of their schemes and stringholds as we also cry out for mercy and repentance and forgiveness for our nation.
Government shutdowns have been around for years. First hand experienced in the 90’s and in later years as well. Essential employees worked without pay and others furloughed. No unemployment or other benefits. Oh to have been an illegal with there benefits of today during times of furlough. Had to learn to save for a rainy day as this occurred several times. Government spending and waste must be stopped, the sooner the better.
No work, no pay, no benefits!!!!

I am praying to God Almighty to open the eyes and hearts of our leaders to follow His will and to receive his blessings.
Lord, I pray that these leaders will open their eyes to You. Satan is the author of lying and confusion. Lord, I ask you to expose these lies on National TV so all the people can see it. I ask you to remove wicked and corrupt leaders on both isles. May they not seek their own personal gains but for you Lord! Turn these people to you and may they repent and accept Jesus as their Lord and saviors. There are too many lawmakers out there deceiving and are being deceived. Father, we repent as a Nation because we have left your laws and want our own. Forgive us Lord because we are suffering our own folly that was started years back when the supreme court banned prayer and the bible from schools and other platforms.
Will the government shut-down halt the work of the Department of Justice (particularly the on-going investigations that follow others after former FBI Director James Comey was charged with 2 felony counts? ) If so, since the investigations reached this point with these conclusions, IS IT POSSIBLE that the Dem. party leaders have led this government shut-down in order to stop or delay the investigation into the other government officials who were on the list to be investigated in relation to this same collusion of justice that James Comey was pursuing? The reasons that the Democratic party are giving for thier adament move to shut down the government do not make a lot of sense (as stated in the address that the Senator from Louisiana, Senator Kennedy gave just before the clock ticked up to the shut-down hour.) Is it possible that the hidden motives for this non-cooperation that has caused this particular government shut-down is instead, to thwart any on-going investigations? PLEASE PRAY for honesty and transparency, and for those who may be pressing an agenda with evil intent to be silenced, and if necessary removed, so that our leadership will be more inclined to move forward with integrity in their roles of leadership. Pray for Godly advisors to be placed in positions of responsibility, to advise those in our government leadership.
Lord, give our leaders & wisdom. We pray for a spirit of unity & servitude to be poured over DC. We ask for those not telling the truth (lying, leaving out facts, etc) to be exposed & that their names be known. Lord, You have told us repeatedly that You hate a lying tongue & deception. Since that comes from Your lips & Your word Lord, then please help those participating in it, who work for our gov’t… allow them to be fully exposed & let there be no place for them to hide. Give our président & his administration increased wisdom, patience & all the tools needed to maneuver this difficult times.
And we Your people, ask You to remove poor, ungodly officials from their positions. Remove them from power & influence as You deem necessary. We need true leaders who understand what it means to be a servant of the people. You have given us many new leaders that are servants & we are thankful but we ask for more. We are fed up with self serving, greedy people who use their positions for personal or destructive gain. Amen.
We have been through this many times in the past. Lord Jesus, You know all too well the folly of men, By Your grace, may some type of agreement be reached to continue governmental funding. I pray that nothing drastic happens militarily until such agreement is reached.
Oh yes. And while the elected officials are playing the blame game, people are paying for their pride It is time for them to start earning their paychecks. Working people are suffering while they play politics. They were elected to represent. Well, it is time they do just that. They are not losing pay or benefits. Shame. Shame. Shame.
I’m praying for God’s will to be done in this shut down. Our political arena is a mess and both sides of the isle are acting like kindergartners and want their own ways. I often wonder just how concerned are these politicians about we the people. I do know that our true KING is in control but wonder just how much more patience HE can extend to these troubled times.

Father, we ask for a move of your spirit to change hearts. I ask that you move powerfully as only you can do to clarify what is needed during this time. I sense there are several Democrats who are succumbing, to peer pressure but who feel the opposite…they don’t want to be exposed…Father move so powerfully in their hearts that they will stand up and do the right thing. All things are possible with you..

I am so tired of hearing about Government waste, especially the strange things that are being funded. I, as so many other Americans have worked so long and hard for our families and friends, retirement, etc., and then we see and hear about some of the crazy spending. Even thinking about the interest we pay on the debt almost crushes one’s heart and soul. I almost get sick. I know it takes money to run the Government, and at times we must go into debt, but thinking about how much I, my children and my grand kids still must pay to lower the debt, I am so saddened. What ever happened to the line item veto? This at least let someone line out the crazy items without loosing the not so crazy items in a budget proposal. I am so proud of those in power today, please keep up the good work!
Lord, draw Sen. Schumer to Yourself. Save him and his family. We pray Sen. Schumer will repent, be sanctified, and come to know You. Pray to put laborers in Sen. Schumer’s path to share the gospel & know the truth as he finds himself caught between his selfish motives and what is right and good for America according to Your Word. Amen.

A government shutdown is preferable to having the Democrats fund their corrupt and/or anti-American policies.
We decree that 10 more Democratics will vote to reopen Americas Government. That they will realize the damage being done to the American people. We know Father God you are sovereign and aware of the hardened hearts. Pour your wisdom over liberals and open eyes to vote in Americas best interest. We ask for this in Jesus holy name and are so thankful you hear our prayers. Amen
Psalms 121 . I will lift up my eyes toward the hills from where my HELP comes from. My HELP comes from MY GOD THAT made the heaven and earth. Why should the people be the ones who have to lose there jobs and not receive a pay check. And be the ones who will suffer, if they cannot agree on anything. The re needs to be changes made. A bill should be passed that shutting down the gov. will never happan again. Both parties should agree to this. They are the ones who should have to lose there jobs and not get a pay check.They are elected by the people to have the responsibility to do what is right for the people. Stay on the job and work it out till it gets passed. Yes, it is right that we as tax payers should not have to pay for illegal immigrants that Joe Biden opened the border to let them in. Jesus told us to pray for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. That means that everything that happens on earth is not God’s will. But God is able to bring good from man’s free will-created chaos. And God’s ultimate plan will not be thwarted. I pray as Jesus instructed – “Our Father Who Art in Heaven, Hallowed be your Name. First and foremost the government has to learn within a budget like the rest of us! They work for the people but this constant over reach and over spending has to end! President Trump needs to cut government waste while he can! Get rid of agencies that do not need to exist and support our veterans and seniors better! I know like millions of believers around the world I’m praying this will end SOON, but not just a short term fix but a permanent resolution!

It is NOT the Republicans that need to compromise or “blink” regarding this shutdown. The Democrats will not “blink” or sign unless millions of tax dollars in insurance is restored to the ILLEGALS and ABLE-BODIED YOUNG PEOPLE THAT CAN WORK! I am 75 years old and I worked for 47 years before I retired. 24 in business and 23 as an elementary school teacher! The Medicare I get, I worked very hard for it. I know people that were too lazy or wild to work in my working days that now receive SSI, not Social Security because they didn’t work hardly at all, and they get bonus food stamps, and bonus money on a card. I am not eligible for either. So we already have a system that REWARDS laziness (not working) and now the Democrats want to give mine and your hard earned money to people that are not legally in our country! You can’t make this stuff up! So please stop with this “both sides” narrative and tell the Truth! FATHER GOD please speak and deal with enough Democrats to pass this legislation to open up our government. I bind every demon that is filling them with hatred for half of our country and themselves! Please send laborers to all unsaved members of Congress and let them receive JESUS as LORD! And during the next election, I decree that every wicked one of them that will not change is voted out of office by a landslide in JESUS MIGHTY NAME! Amen!
