Editor’s note: Some news, like this article on child ‘sexting’, is deeply discouraging and it is normal to want to back away and find something more pleasant. However, we bring this story to you because America’s children desperately need your intercession! The children of this nation are facing an onslaught of online exploitation and we need to stand in the gap for them. Please read more and pray!

The number of pre-adolescent children who say they have shared nude images of themselves more than doubled in the United States last year, according to new research. An online survey of minors showed that 14 percent of children aged 9-12 said they had ever shared nude photos or videos of themselves, up from just 6 percent a year earlier.

The spike, detailed in a recent report by a technology nonprofit that combats online child sexual exploitation, coincides with the pandemic, when lockdowns and coronavirus restrictions drove children to spend more time online than ever before. That screen time and a proliferation of explicit content in media could be combining to contribute to the growth of nude photo sharing. Beyond parental oversight, few safeguards exist to combat the problem…

Child safety advocates say that as children spend more time online, they see more sexualized content that normalizes “sexting” and nude photo sharing.

“The only natural outcome of content that exploits children is an increase in real-life exploitation,” Parents Television and Media Council President Tim Winter said…

Of the 9- to 12-year-olds surveyed in the Thorn study who said they had shared nude images, 36 percent said they shared them with someone they believed to be 18 or older…

The widespread phenomenon of sexting and nude photo sharing among children should serve as a wake-up call, said Helen Taylor, vice president of impact at Exodus Cry, an anti-trafficking group based in San Clemente, Calif. “Many children think it’s normal to request and send nude images and videos, and there’s increasing pressure on them to conform to this dangerous trend,” she said.

Taylor viewed the Thorn study as unsurprising given how readily accessible pornography is for children. Exodus Cry recently released a short film, Raised on Porn, highlighting the effects of childhood exposure to pornography. The group started a petition calling for pornographic websites to require age verification and IDs for users. Nearly 62,000 people had signed the petition as of Monday.

During the pandemic, recreational screen time among 12- and 13-year-olds doubled, from pre-pandemic estimates of 3.8 hours per day to 7.7 hours, according to a JAMA Pediatrics study.

In recent weeks, lawmakers in both parties have argued for stricter governmental oversight of Instagram and its parent company, Meta, amid reports detailing the photo-sharing app’s harmful effects on young users. Those effects include body image problems, according to researchers inside the company, and exposure to sexualized content.

Amen to these prayers for our children and grandchildren. It is past time to be the parent and not allow children to have I-phones. It is no safer for a teenager to take control of an automobile sooner than ready and certainly not open up the world wide web to children who cannot handle what they are exposed to. The phones have opened up nothing but corruption and the demonic. I pray that parents would be strong in their convictions and biblical world views and plead the blood of Jesus over their household everyday. Teach your children the way that they should go and they will not depart from it. Pray together as a family and read the Bible together everyday. Satan has broken up the family unit and we need more Godly fathers in the household. May this Great Awakening bring us back to our Biblical roots. May 2022 be a year of repentance, restoration, the Glorious Church totally awakened and engaged in the fight for our country walking with Holy Spirit and praying in tongues more and more and more. I pray this for all Christians everywhere all over the world, in the Name of Yeshua HaMashiach Who is returning soon to fulfill all prophecy in the Bible.

Father in Heaven, We ask for Your Mercy on us for any ways that we have participated in, tolerated, or neglected to take initiative to fight this battle against immorality. Every time we as parents invite lust into our hearts we invite it Spiritually into our homes, putting our children at risk. Help us Father to bear fruits worthy of repentance by cleaning out our hearts and our homes. Our homes must be Holy Ground!! What we do, what we say, what we watch….may it be pleasing in your sight. For we cannot condemn the world when the home of the Disciples harbor immorality. Please forgive us and strengthen our resolve not to conform any further to the patterns of the world. Holy Spirit lead us daily in our decisions. In Jesus’ Name we ask. Amen.

Father, Forgive us if as. parents we have not been watchful over what our children are observing. In many cases we have allowed the technology to entertain and occupy their little world. May we repent as a nation for the road we have opened up to our children. May we take back our responsibilities as a parent and establish in our children a LOVE for God and for His WAYS. We need Your wisdom and counsel for you are a Holy God and desire for us to raise up another generation who will love God and know the wonders of Our God.

Heavenly Father. Hear our cries for all the children . Give them wisdom to say “no” to the forces that desire sexual impropriety. Cover them with protection and safety. Hear our cries and heal their sorrow.

In the Bible parents are responsible for their children. I think individual groups can assist in solving these problems but I am not sure if I want the government involved. How far will the government over reach parental authority?
