Senate Republicans blocked a measure to raise the debt limit and provide temporary government funding in a standoff with Democrats over planned legislation that would spend up to $3.5 trillion on social welfare programs.
The vote on Monday was 48-50. Democrats needed at least 10 GOP votes…
In a speech ahead of the vote, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell told Democrats to decouple the two measures. Democrats blocked a bill…that would have provided stopgap government funding until Dec. 3 and emergency aid for states and Afghan refugees.
“We’ll see if Washington Democrats…want to add the prospects of a government shutdown to the list with inflation, Afghanistan, the border, and all the other national crises that are the direct result of their own decisions,” said McConnell…
Republicans refuse to support a debt limit increase because they say it will be used to fund a massive social welfare spending package…
The bill will likely cost up to $3.5 trillion and would fund an array of new government programs…
Democrats…blamed Trump-era tax cuts for the debt. They hope to pin the blame for the government funding impasse on the GOP…
Democrats control the House, Senate, and White House, making it unlikely they’ll let the government…default on loans…

I pray that Republicans would have the COURAGE, the COMMON SENSE, that I believe most of them DO have! Now, Lord, let them USE IT! If these Republicans don’t, they will do that to their own peril!!!! Most of us are fed up with Congress people we’ve sent to represent us, but they somehow forget about us when they’re in office. We have a really good Senator and a couple of great Representatives, in our State, but we need more. Too many want power, control, money!
This is more than a Democrat Bill, this Bill has things in it that will totally destroy our country! That’s NOT hyperbole!
Father, may Your Truth keep marching on and I pray You would sift out the hearts of all men and women, today. I ask this for Your Glory, Hallelujah!

Father God, my heart is so heavy for our Nation which seems to be going through, ciaos and confusion, from over spending to corruption, I pray that those of them that are in our House of representatives to the Senate, and those in the White House that truly love our country and want what is best for the citizens of the USA, that you will give them favor and strength to uphold our values and the constitution, I ask in Jesus name; Amen
Beverly, I can identify with your heavy heart. This evening I went to a meeting for political information mostly about an election audit in Michigan. I grabbed a notebook out of a pile of five I bought the other day. On it is written} The Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18 Sometimes. I take ice cubes and put them in my blender and hit the crushed Botton. You she this hard ice cube get crushed up. Like you my heart is heavy also my spirit feels like it has been crushed in a blender. We live in the greatest country in the world. We are in a fight of good and evil. Evil sure isn’t pretty. It is a comfort to know when our hearts are heavy the Lord is close to us.
As much as I dislike the political animal that is Sen Min Leader McConnell, he is truly effective when needed. Father in the name of Jesus, I ask for strength and courage for our Congressmen and women to do what is right for the people they represent. Thank you Lord for being who you are and who you call us to be in your might Name. Amen.
