Many of President Trump’s nominations were confirmed without much fanfare. Nominees such as Marco Rubio, Kristi Noem, and Doug Burgum sailed through the confirmation process. But the media and protestors seemed focused and appeared coordinated on stopping a select few. As hearings continued, names like Tulsi Gabbard, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Pete Hegseth dominated every headline, homepage, and news channel.

Why was the media so focused on these three? Perhaps they didn’t have the money or manpower to focus on each nominee equally. Alternatively, I find it likely these names were picked intentionally. Perhaps these nominees were targeted because of the threat they posed to the establishment and the deep state.

This would certainly explain the continued attacks facing these leaders. RFK Jr., for example, recently faced a surge of anger and pushback over comments about autism. It’s hard to think of a Secretary who has it worse, however, than Pete Hegseth, the President’s Secretary of Defense.

I am sure everyone remembers the “Signalgate” story that broke in late March. IFA covered it and some of its aftermath. As a refresher, an anti-Trump journalist working for The Atlantic was mistakenly added to a chat on the app Signal, in which Trump administration officials, including Secretary Hegseth, discussed plans to strike the Houthis. It didn’t take long for the media to harass Secretary Hegseth after this controversy, demanding his resignation.

Recently, however, Hegseth found himself at the mercy of another controversy, once again related to Signal. According to a New York Times article published on Resurrection Sunday, Secretary Hegseth also shared “sensitive information” about strikes in Yemen with his wife and brother. It did not take long for the media to whip up a frenzy once again. NPR shared a headline arguing that this controversy “may be worse” than the last one.

As a side note, former Pentagon officials Dan Caldwell and Darin Selnick were included in this second Signal chat. Caldwell and Selnick were fired on Friday amid a probe into Pentagon leaks. On Saturday, they griped in a joint statement that they were “slandered” and were the victims of “baseless attacks.” Then, the day after their joint statement, the New York Times broke the latest Signal story. The timing seems awfully coincidental. Were these two disgruntled former employees involved in the leaking of this story?

Regardless of who leaked this information, the mainstream media has been working overtime to stir up the American people against Secretary Hegseth. The Atlantic, Politico, and NPR all published headlines earlier this week either calling Secretary Hegseth to resign or suggesting that the President might soon fire him. The media is trying to build an artificial consensus and convince the public that Pete Hegseth is a horrible choice for Defense Secretary and that his days in the Pentagon are numbered.

But are either of those things really the case?

President Trump, for his part, is adamant in his support of Secretary Hegseth. The White House made it clear the President “stands strongly” behind the Secretary of Defense, and it doesn’t look like he’ll be replaced anytime soon. And the Secretary has been working overtime to strengthen our military, cut wasteful spending, correct the previous administration’s mistakes, and remove bad actors from the armed forces. Most recently, he joined with other officials to stop America and Israel from striking Iran, an attack that could have potentially caused World War 3.

And yet, as we have learned, these wins are seen as problems by the deep state and the corrupt. Some liked the Pentagon’s wasteful spending, as it allowed them to line their pockets at the taxpayers’ expense. I’m also sure that, as awful as it sounds, some defense contractors would’ve preferred to see the beginning of a war with Iran, as a new war would mean a payday for them. As another side note, the New York Times reported on the latest Signal controversy only 4 days after it covered Secretary Hegseth’s attempts to prevent a war from starting. Is this another coincidence? Or, as some on the Right are suggesting, is this all part of a bigger plan to replace Secretary Pete Hegseth with a more conventional pick — someone who will put the deep state and the defense contractors above the American people.

There is a reason why President Trump has staffed his administration in part with unconventional outsiders. Secretary Hegseth may be a political outsider, just as the President himself once was, but he’s dangerous to all the right people. He’s protecting our nation and keeping the deep state on the back foot, all while giving glory to the Lord. He’s exactly what our nation needs right now, and it’s up to us to support him in prayer. Let’s pray he is able to accomplish all God has for him, and that the Enemy will not be able to stop his work!
