I Prayed have prayed
God, we thank You for inspiring Oklahoma to create the nation's first taxpayer-funded religious school. We pray You would protect St. Isidore of Seville Catholic Virtual School, as well as the religious freedom of all Americans.

Tomorrow, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments for Oklahoma Statewide Charter School Board v. Drummond, a case that will decide the future of publicly funded religious schools in America. With Justice Amy Coney Barrett recusing herself, a tie is possible. Let’s pray!

From CBN. In Oklahoma, the debate over public schooling and religious freedom is intensifying as efforts to remove barriers separating church and state coincide with aĀ pivotal Supreme Court case. The outcome could set a major precedent for how the Constitution is applied in public education.

Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond is in a legal battle with the state’s charter school board, aiming to prevent taxpayer dollars from funding faith-based institutions. In a statement following Governor Kevin Stitt’s executive order to position Oklahoma as the nation’s strongest defender of religious liberty, Drummond warned that if a taxpayer-funded religious charter school is allowed to open in Oklahoma, “it will only be a matter of time before taxpayers are funding schools dedicated to Sharia law, Wicca indoctrination, Scientology instruction — even the Church of Satan.” …

Meanwhile, Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters, a member of the charter school board, argues that the priority should be giving families public funding to send their children to the school of their choice. He said the issue centers on the freedom to express religious beliefs without government penalty and the right to school choice. …

At the heart of the case now headed for the Supreme Court is St. Isidore of Seville Catholic Virtual School, which seeks to become the nation’s first publicly funded religious charter school. Walters said the school would be eligible for funding in a way private schools are not. …

Civil liberties organizations, including the ACLU, argue that public funding for religious schools violates the separation of church and state. …

St. Isidore is represented by First Liberty Institute, which argues that the Constitution’s Free Exercise Clause should take precedence over state laws restricting religious schools from receiving public funds. …

Twelve states have filed briefs supporting public funding for religious charter schools. Justice Amy Coney Barrett has recused herself from the case due to a personal connection, potentially setting the stage for a 4-4 tie. Oral arguments begin April 30, with a decision expected this summer.

In my opinion, religious schools that take funding from the government subject the schools to the government’s ideology. It’s better for them to function w/o the assistance of funds provided by the state.

I also feel that once you support one religion then funds could support ANY religious school— Christian, Jew, Muslim, indigenous belief schools and in and in. I think we are entering a slippery slope even though I’m Christian and believe in faith based schools.

Father, you know what is best. I pray the Supreme Court would have your wisdom and vote accordingly. I praise your name.

It has always been my experience that whenever the government gives public funding to anything, they require a certain amount of control regarding those funds. I would be very hesitant to place our Christian schools under those requirements. I totally agree with the statement that all of our schools, whether private or public, should have the freedom to express religious beliefs without government penalty.

The US Constitution ruled out foreign religions. Guess why there’s such opposition to remembering that. Big money is working against the US, and our prayers need to rise up to maintain what made America great. I pray for us to be aware and pray this through.

Can you specify where in the Constitution you believe it says this? Kind of quoting the Bible, but not giving a reference. I’m not mocking you, I truly want to know.

I trust this Oklahoma deal considered Islam’s strides in the Texas Congress for establishing Sharia and a dual state authority just this year. Dallas and Austin (and Houston) stand out as progressives have taken control from Republican majority and run everything their way. I asked for help praying. This week it all caved in.

Father, I pray for your will to be done in this case. Once again, it gives federal funding to a special interest group that could go haywire in the future. But You know what’s best. I advocated for personal choice instead, but I ask You to intervene in the headers of the Supreme Court to advocate Your interests in this case. In Jesus Name, Amen.

She has been a grave disappointment in the SCOTUS decisions. Along with others. What has happened here? Justice has not been seen in current decisions.

I think this whole issue is being misunderstood. Right now we have the public schools teaching, for the most part, the religion of secular humanism. The question is whether parents will be allowed to direct the funds they are paying in taxes to the school of their choice. Sure, they may choose a school that doesn’t reflect my Christian values; however, if we don’t allow this, many students whose parents can’t afford to send their children to a private or Christian school, will be stuck with their children being indoctrinated into the religion of secular humanism by our public schools. In fact some public schools are encouraging sexual experimentation and homosexuality, teaching pagan religions, and even the occult. Public schools are no longer “neutral”.

SUCH a crucial case! Prior to the 1960s, American public schools were Bible-based centers of learning. Our Constitution was written for Judeo-Christian religious people, and is wholly inadequate for others. So of course above all things, our schools should be teaching the Ten Commandments and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. American society cannot long survive without it – just as no other has or ever will!āœļøšŸ™

I’m praying for God’s wisdom in this decision. If schools get government funding, it is likely the schools will trust more in the government than in Gods provision. It’s like the Israelites demanding a king instead of God’s sovereign authority and leading. You might think things would be easier as the government supports the religious schools, but God never promised us ease in the world. This is a battleground where we must depend on Christ alone. Grace and mercy to you as you trust in Him.

Good points – however, the Lord would surely prefer our own tax dollars to fund Christian schools for our children, rather than pagan ones.

Although I strongly support religious freedom, I am afraid that this action could open the floodgates for satanic schools and for Governmental controlling acts that are not wanted or needed. We have all seen how the Government is creeping closer, and closer to tyrannical controls and getting Government money will certainly cause the same towards any religious school accepting tax money. I pray that the Government money should be disallowed for these reasons.

This new administration has plans for state-controlled education that would provide families with vouchers of our tax money to pay for schools we choose, even home curriculums!

Drummond is ABSOLUTELY CORRECT that ā€œif a taxpayer-funded religious charter school is allowed to open in Oklahoma, ā€œit will only be a matter of time before taxpayers are funding schools dedicated to Sharia law, Wicca indoctrination, Scientology instruction — even the Church of Satan.ā€ … We do NOT want the government funding religious schools. We do not want the government involved in telling any religion what they can or cannot do. If the government gets its claws into funding religious schools, then the government gets a say of how to run those schools, whether it be Christian or any other religion. We must pray for SCOTUS to uphold the Attorney General’s position!

25
    Glory2Him
    April 29, 2025

Absolutely not! If the high court rules against OK, we all continue the status quo of failed God-less public education. Government equals Taxpayers – and we must have our money funding schools of parents’ choice. Otherwise, middle class families remain unable to afford Christian education – and are forced to fund as well as attend increasingly satanic public schools. Please wake up and be led of the Holy Spirit into the Truth on this crucial issue! šŸ™

Father, grant the Supreme Court to decide what the answer should be. I think tax credits to go for a school parents chose is a good choice, perhaps the wisest. May your will prevail.

Our founders would never have allowed that – only Judeo-Christian schools. Other religions are incompatible with our Constitution and literally destructive to civil American society.

We already use tax money for religious instruction. It’s called humanism. The religion that’s teaching CRT, DEI, evolution, and gender identity. It’s the public school. So that ship has sailed. Now let parents choose instruction based on their values.
Lord, you have told us to raise up our children in the fear of the Lord. May truth and justice for all prevail.

Perhaps the specifics need to be rewritten, mandating that a certain percentage of voters involved must sign a petition for any such religious school to qualify for government funding.
Christians must pray for the wisdom of Solomon in our state as well as in our national leaders.

We must not open the door to public funding of ā€œreligiousā€ schools. We SHOULD support President Trump’s advocacy for LESS BURDENSOME TAXATION. on citizens, and we must advocate for a means of opting out our children from public education and receiving tax credits for doing so.

I am not sure after reading this exactly what issue is at hand: funding the schools or giving funds to parents to decide where they want to educate their kids. I ask for the latter. I believe it is rightly said… and we can look at other seemingly honorable attempts… that if SCHOOLS are funded, we will in short order be subsidizing Islamic Madrassas and other humanist- focused schools. Yes, give parents the $, not the schools.

Praying for the City Elders of Oklahoma! Godspeed ahead and thank you for following Christ’s Kingdom vision of bringing together pastors, civic and business leaders together for such a time as this! This is the fruit of your efforts! Praying for the same for our City Elders here in Virginia. I’m praying that God will change Justice Barrett’s heart and fill her with the Holy Spirit power she needs to stand against any one who is manipulating her to be silent and vote FOR school choice.

You do not want public funded religious schools. Our taxes will be paying for Islamic schools or any other false teaching. Salvation alone is in the finished work of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the cross. Acts 4:12 “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved.”
Ephesians 2:8,9 ” For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not as a result of works that no one should boast.”
Please pray.

Father, let Your Kingdom come and Your will be done in our public education system. Sweep our country with revival fire so that the Bible is read again in public schools, so that faith is honored, so that God Almighty is honored in our school system. Rebuild the foundation. Thank You, Lord. And may Your will be done in this particular case. May Your wisdom penetrate the hearts and minds of the Justices. Amen.

I pray that ALL schools are funded through their own private means and NONE are paid through our taxes. ā€œEducationā€ is not found in most versions of Bibles. Discipleship is. If we truly want Biblical revival and reformation, we must raise our children in His Ways, and return to the original Way that American trained her children. The public school system started in the 1800’s to supplant our Heritage and it has. Let’s STOP using the world’s anti-Christ methods and return to His? šŸ™šŸ™šŸ™šŸ™šŸ™šŸ™šŸ™šŸ™šŸ™šŸ™šŸ™šŸ™šŸ™

I agree 100%! Taking government money makes one beholden to that government, and pretty soon government comes in and says what can and cannot be taught and who can and cannot be hired. I worked at a Christian school for many years, and it saddened, discouraged, and angered me that only ONE church out of about 40 represented supported the school financially, and that was very minimally. Christians must support Christian schools, and Christian parents should pull their kids out of public school.

The Roberts supreme court is near the worst in American history. Almost as bad as the Warren court of decades ago. Biden appointed his “woke” justice to the supreme court. I really don’t expect any relief out of the supreme court. All the supreme court has done is make matters more expensive and conditions worse for Americans!

With God, His will be done in spite of the worlds ways. Let’s remember in this Easter season, it was a cross built by man that man’s (misplaced) justice would be carried out. Yet, God constructed His plan for that same cross to ā€œsave manā€. We now have justice from The Justifier. His truth will prevail, his Word is to be taught in discipling our children and others. Man’s way prevents. God’s Way (Jesus) enables. His gospel message of life must be told. Who?? doesn’t want the truth to be told

When I came to your statement, ā€œMan’s way prevents.ā€ my mind automatically went to ā€œGod’s way produces.ā€ — Then remembered several other accounts where God produced……….

    Does not wisdom call out?

    Thank you for your post.
