From The Wall Street Journal. The Supreme Court on Friday allowed the widely used abortion pill mifepristone to remain on the market indefinitely, granting emergency requests from the Biden administration and the brand-name manufacturer of the drug.

The high court blocked the effect of lower-court orders that would have limited access to the pill, which is used in more than half of U.S. abortions. The Supreme Court’s action wasn’t a decision on the merits of the case; instead, the justices were deciding whether the pill could remain available during a continuing legal challenge brought by antiabortion groups.
The court’s order was unsigned and provided no reasoning, as is typical in emergency actions. But it indicated that FDA-approved access to mifepristone would remain until litigation concludes in the lower courts and the Supreme Court itself has an opportunity to review those decisions—a timeline that likely will take many months.

Medical associations and individual doctors who oppose abortion sued the Food and Drug Administration in November, contesting the agency’s initial approval of the pill in 2000, as well as more recent regulations that made the drug easier to obtain.
The case has moved rapidly from a courthouse in Amarillo, Texas, where a U.S. District Court judge appointed by former President Donald Trump suspended the pill’s approval, to the high court in a matter of weeks. In between, the New Orleans-based Fifth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals narrowed the Texas judge’s injunction somewhat but ordered the FDA to reimpose a pre-2016 regimen for administering the drug. That included limiting its use to the earliest weeks of pregnancy, requiring three doctors’ visits, precluding mailing pills to patients and reintroducing a higher dosage than what is now used.
The Supreme Court’s order negated all of those limits. The Biden administration and Danco Laboratories LLC, which sells the pill under the brand name Mifeprex, filed emergency appeals last week asking the court to intervene.
The Fifth Circuit is set to hear arguments in the case in mid-May and issue a more detailed ruling after that. …
The mifepristone litigation has nationwide implications because a ruling against the FDA would reduce abortion access in states that have maintained protections for the procedure post-Dobbs. Providers in states where abortion remains legal have relied on the abortion pill to help meet increased demand. Some states have been amassing stockpiles of abortion drugs, in case court decisions limit future availability. …

Father, as the justices think about this case and make their decisions, may they see truth. This pill not only kills babies, but harms women as well. I pray for a change of heart for our nation that we will love babies and children and desire to fill our nation with them.
Walgreens will not sell this drug. They are being attacked for their stand. Please pray for protection for them and shop there to support them!
The one up-side of this is that all of these precious babies who are aborted will be in Heaven for all of eternity! They will miss out on being raised wondering if they are really a boy or maybe a girl…??? and all the other trash our kids are being told these days. Thank you for your blessings over them, Father.
May the hearts of the Supreme Court Justices be changed Dear Lord (excluding Thomas and Alito) to strike down this abomination in our society. We ask you Lord to stomp the head of the serpent forever! Let the eyes of evil doers be opened to see how their actions are affecting innocent humans. Come quickly Lord, come quickly to our help! In Jesus Name we pray. Amen!
LORD, though we are highly disappointed in this SCOTUS decision, we want to PRAISE you for shining your light on this issue in two ways. First, thank you for shinning light on what is going on with the Christian Supreme Court Justices, who wouldn’t take a STAND for YOU!! We PRAY that the HOLY SPIRIT might break through to lead them to correct this terrible decision against YOU. Second, we PRAISE YOU LORD for also shining a light on the two Justices who stood up for LIFE, and therefore YOU; Justices, Thomas, and Alito.
We understand what has happened time and time again in scripture when a Nation hasn’t followed YOUR ways, and we now prepare for that wrath. Please LORD place a fence of protection around YOUR children in this Nation who “STAND UP” for YOU, and please help to bring us all together in PRAYER, so that we might ask for YOUR forgiveness, so that YOU might HEAL our LAND.
Using drugs for anything is dangerous no matter what. We don’t seem to talk about the alternative to abortion, which is stop having sex, or at least use protective measures if you’re going to copulate outside of marriage. There are so many voices in our world about so many issues.
Lord, I pray that the issue of sin vs. holy living would resound in our land once again. Let the voice of righteousness, repentance, turning to Jesus, and doing what’s right in God’s sight be the voice that is not only sounded but also heard. Amen
