I Prayed have prayed
God, restore our homes, our families, our communities. Restore our hearts, Lord, and prepare us for revival — and for holy combat.

Many today are feeling that America is beyond hope. We can acknowledge that the times are unpredictable and evil. To be sure, the Church is not without some blame. And yet, something is shifting. Desperation is driving people to the Lord — and there is a remnant crying out. We can easily fall into despair, but as long as we have Jesus Christ, we will always have reason to hope.

Recently, a 20-year-old Generation Z pastor inspired me. He began hosting weekly worship services in his city. The message was loud and clear: God, we are not going anywhere until You bring revival to our city. This began as weekly prayer and worship services and grew into a citywide gathering that included pastors from all over Texas. Various churches came together, and everyone was welcome.

I believe that as I watched churches gather to exalt Jesus, the Lord was showing me a prophetic picture we can pray into: My eyes were surveying Gen Z and Gen Alpha members worshiping. I was captivated by the worshiping women waving banners and flags alongside their husbands and families. There was no divide in that moment. It wasn’t about any church in particular; it was all about Jesus, and it was a powerful time.

I was reminded of the Exodus under Moses: He was called and commissioned to lead the people out of Egypt, and we know he did that. But ultimately, it wasn’t Moses who took possession of the promised land — it was Joshua, his younger aide. Joshua was to lead the younger generation to go in and take the land. This is how I feel about Gen Z.

It’s apparent that the Enemy is after our children, and this can generate a mix of emotions, including anger and fear. However, it’s also encouraging and exciting to see young people who are hungry and filled with zeal for Jesus. They will be at the forefront of a move of God. This is exactly what we need.

It’s going to require young people unashamed of Jesus to boldly confront the lies coming against their generation. Many have prophesied that Gen Z will play a huge part in the next spiritual awakening, and I believe it.

Let me also clarify that just because God is moving among and using these young people to do great exploits doesn’t mean the older generations don’t have work to do as well.

God of Every Generation

When Moses led the people through the Red Sea, Miriam and all the women under her leadership danced, sang, and worshiped before the Lord: Then Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women went out after her with tambourines and dancing (Exodus 15:20).

Just as I saw women worshiping with flags and tambourines at the City Hall, women of God, it’s your time. Rise up, worshipers! Don’t be who the world is telling you to be, just be who God created you to be. You are not defined by who they say you are. You are defined by who God says you are. You are a daughter of the Most High. Choose to be a woman of worship and not a woman of the world. Your praise is a weapon. Your dance is a weapon. Your voice is a weapon. Your shout is a weapon — so use these. Refuse to sit back and be silent. It’s going to take worshipful women of God, filled with the Holy Spirit and fire, to confront the lies of the devil coming against us.

In Moses’ day, the men were given a specific task from the Lord: “… ‘drive out all the inhabitants of the land before you. Destroy all their carved images and their cast idols, and demolish all their high places’ ” (Numbers 33:52 NIV).

This charge remains today. We need men of God to rise up. We need you to lead and not count on the women to do everything. Lead your family as you are called to. We need men who are battle-ready, men who believe the Lord’s report rather than any bad report. Will you see yourself as a grasshopper, or as a warrior? Are you willing to confront the giants in the land? Are you ready to take back what the enemy has stolen from you? If so, armor up and take your place.

Both the men and the women had a responsibility to teach their children to remember the great things God had done (see Deuteronomy 4:9–10; and 11:19). We are to teach our children about the works and the words of the Lord — because if we won’t, the world is more than willing to teach them its own sinful values.

Some of the older generation that was with Moses went into the promised land with Joshua as well: Caleb was about 85 years old when he entered Canaan, and he was still more than able to do battle.

“Now, as you can see, the LORD has kept me alive and well as he promised for all these forty-five years since Moses made this promise — even while Israel wandered in the wilderness. Today I am eighty-five years old. I am as strong now as I was when Moses sent me on that journey, and I can still travel and fight as well as I could then. So give me the hill country that the LORD promised me. You will remember that as scouts we found the descendants of Anak living there in great, walled towns. But if the LORD is with me, I will drive them out of the land, just as the LORD said” (Joshua 14:10–12 NLT).

Share Your Faith and Wisdom

Caleb represents the mature men and women of God who have paved the way before us. We honor those mature ones who have set an example and are now departed and in glory. And we also honor you mature ones who are still with us. The younger generations need you. They need your wisdom and faith.

When I realized everything that transpired at the gathering, I believe I saw a picture of the greatest need of the hour: that as an act of unity during times of prayer, believers of all ages would link arms together and pray as one.

What stood out to me most were the various ages: young children, youth, young adults, the middle-aged, and the elderly — all locking arms; all generations came together. It didn’t look like several different churches, or even like one church. No, in the moment, we were one big  family.

God also said to Moses, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is my name forever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations” (Exodus 3:15).

The Lord is always recorded as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, because He is a generational God.

Of all the names of God in the Bible, my favorite is Father. There are 64 scriptures that call Him Father directly, and some others that address His fatherly nature.

The Enemy is seeking to destroy generations, but you can be sure that Father God cares about what is happening to these children. He has not forgotten them. He is going to raise these kids up. So be ready.

Before they occupied the land, as described in Numbers 33:52, the Israelite men were instructed to tear down the heathen high places. Those were false altars of worship to idols that had been erected in the land. And in Joshua 4:21–24, after the Israelites had crossed the Jordan River, the Lord instructed them to build a memorial altar.

Today there are many false altars in this nation that need to come down. One thing is certain: We need to raise up altars of true worship to the Lord. We also need to rebuild and return to the family altars.

Marriages are under attack, and youth and children are being targeted. Family values that were once esteemed are now mocked. We need all generations to come together, side by side, for one purpose: to see Jesus Christ exalted in our families, our cities, and our nation. When generations thus work together, it’s called synergy. We remember the sacrifices and prayers of our loved ones who have paved the way for us to do what we do. We train and empower the next generation, and when they’re ready, we send them out. This is an ongoing legacy.

There is a move of God now being birthed. Thank You, Lord, for signs, wonders, miracles, and deliverance. We certainly need those things. Those manifestations display Your power and glory for all to see, resulting in freedom and salvation. We will never stop contending for lost souls, because that is what revival is about.

A Family With Foundations

My prayer is that this next move of God would bring a revival of restored families as well. It is going to require families with a firm foundation built on Jesus Christ to withstand the coming storms and confront the lies of the Enemy. The younger generations need family. We, the Church, need to step up and be that supportive family as well. After all, as some have said, it sometimes takes a whole village to raise a child.

God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure (Ephesians 1:5 NLT).

Jesus did more than die for our sins, though we can never thank Him enough for doing just that. He also died to make us the family of God. This family is no man-made institution; it was God’s idea.

I believe in the power of the blood of Jesus; I believe in the name of Jesus Christ. I believe that He is who He says He is. He is a restorer. He came to reconcile all things through the cross (see Colossians 1:20). He calls us to the ministry of reconciliation as we plead for people to come to Jesus.

All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God (2 Corinthians 5:18–20 NIV).

Maybe some of you reading this do not have strong ties with your biological family, and this is where the spiritual family comes in: God sets the lonely in families … (Psalm 68:6 NIV). The Church serves as a hospital for the broken and the sick, but it also serves as a family unit for the lonely. Some people come into church alone. If we are the hands and feet of Jesus, we should extend His love to all who enter His house.

COVID did a great job of isolating and dividing not only the Church, but families too. Some people never recovered; they chose to stay isolated. That’s what the Enemy wants: isolated believers, divided churches, and broken families. But today we say: Enough!

It’s time to come back, prodigal — come home. Come back to family. Christian, come out of loneliness and isolation; come back to the house of God and to family. I pray that if you are not connected, you will get connected. You can’t do it alone; none of us can. We need each other now more than ever. If you want to be a part of what God is doing, let’s spiritually link arms right now:

Father, we praise You because even in the midst of darkness, Your Spirit is moving. You are calling Your body to link arms as one and to be not just the Church, but also the actual family of God. We see the Enemy coming for our families, and we say: Enough! We take our stand as watchmen on the wall, and we contend not only for revival, but also for the recovery of our families. We are standing in the gap for restoration of marriages and homes. There is no home or marriage so broken that You can’t restore it. There is no wound so deep that You can’t heal it. We call forth every prodigal. You said there’s nowhere they can flee from Your presence. We know they were raised in Your house, and You said that if we train our children up in Your ways, they will not depart from those ways when they are old. We cling to that promise with confidence because You are faithful. Spirit of God, remind these prodigals of Your truth, and be the light in their darkness. Bring healing and restoration. There is nothing impossible with You.

Even now we pray for Christians who became disconnected during COVID. Bring them back into fellowship with Yourself and with the family of God. Give us Your heart for the Church and for every single person who comes into the church building. We also pray for those we come into contact with daily, that we might extend the healing ministry of reconciliation. We have seen Your power and glory moving in the Church, and we praise You. We want to see Your power in our families, too. Prepare our hearts for what You are about to do. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Lord I pray that no weapon formed against our families and the family unit would prosper. I pray you would tear down all walls of evil and put up walls of good around us. You are our creator, Master and God. Restore and reunite broken homes, deliver us from evil, have mercy, cause the demons to flee. May we have the freedom and sound mind to choose you, when you call. We call on the Name of Jesus, Elohim,, Adonai, El-Elyon, Jehovah-Shammah. I AM. Save us and we will be saved. You are my comfort Lord and i pray for the healing of this nation and nations and thier families. Do not pass us by or forget us. We NEED YOU Lord, our source of everything. Thank you for keeping us thus far. Snatch us out of the fire, you do! Love you Lord. Amen

We give you all the praise. 🙌

I went through a divorce (that I didn’t want) 25 years ago when I still had 3 children at home. I wanted nothing to do with the divorce & fought against it the best I knew how, trying to keep our family together. Knowing that wasn’t what God wanted for our family, I still lost the legal battle. Due to battling depression (on account of the divorce) & a lack of resources to fight back, my financial world was devastated through a loss of good job, home, relationships & horrible financial judgements placed on me, etc. It was both the worst & best time of my life. It was “best” because God met me in a way I’d never experienced before, though I’ve known & walked with him since I was 13. It was the worst due to all the fallout from a divorce, as I’m sure some of you have perhaps experienced. I ended up having to move out of state to find work to support my children & ex-wife. My children never seemed to forgive me for that move, but I had no choice as financial responsibility had to be met & nothing was opening for a job close to home. It took over 15 years to pay all that I owed (I got way behind due to the loss of income – I just couldn’t meet what they were asking me to pay, even once I started working steady again).
I’ve tried to restore my relationships with my children, but without success. They let me in for a brief second but then shut the door in all ways again. Recently, a pastor that I’ve known for many decades said that he sensed that a root of bitterness had become a part of my children, passed down from their ongoing exposure to it for years.
I would just ask that, as each of you read this, you would pray for the miracle of restoration to take place between my biological children & I. For total healing to come to our family. I know God wants that for us but our enemy Satan has put many roadblocks in the way. All my children are Christians but I’m not sure how their walk is (today) with the Lord. Thank you.

    MN,

I lift your prayer to our Heavenly Father for complete healing and restoration of your relationship with your biological children. Praying that he will soften their hearts and they would be open to a new beginning with their earthly Father. I pray this in Jesus name, Amen. I want to encourage you to keep praying and trust in God’s plan and timing. My husband made some poor decisions when going through a divorce that also lead to his children becoming distant in his life. His son and daughter are both grown, married and have children now. I have been praying for years for restoration over these relationships and my husband now has a really good relationship with his son and things with his daughter are continuing to be better also. We have 5 grandchildren between them that we adore and they know who we are and love spending time with us. I pray over each and every one of them and that my husband and I would be a light and an example of God’s love to them every chance we get. Don’t give up and continue to pray and fight for the relationship and wait and watch what our God does. He is Amazing 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

    MN,
I grew up without my dad. They divorced while I was pretty young. I had so much bitterness and unforgjveness towards my dad well into my adult years. I won’t get into every single offense I had, but the bottom line is I battled being rejected by him. After I became a Christian, I still had issues with him. God brought me through a process of healing i needed. It didn’t happen overnight, but I have a functional relationship with my dad and I have completely forgiven him, as have my siblings. If he did it first me, He can do it for you. I will pray for restoration in your relationship with your family and that they would encounter Jesus as their savior, if they already haven’t.
    Thank you for sharing.

I grew up in a dysfunctional family, long before that term was even known or used. To this day, I still have no ties with biological family members; and my church family feels just as bad. Try as I might, I can’t form any meaningful connections; and, although I know that God has a purpose and plan for me, it seems to be growing increasingly dim rather than clear.

    Tess,
I was moved by your post and have prayed for you. What a hard road you have traveled! The Lord is near to the broken hearted and saves the crushed in spirit….Psalm 34:18 I pray He will open a door for you, an opportunity to find meaningful connection. Jesus stands at the door of our hearts and knocks, wanting to be intimate as one sharing a meal. May it be so for you!

Lord, help Tess to experience oneness with you and with the Body of Christ. You do set the lonely in families…Psalm 68:6. Knit her heart into the Family of God. Allow her to experience your help and wholeness.

    Your sister in Christ,

Tess I also grew up in a dysfunctional family as well. I often see my church family more than biological family (aside from my siblings). Christianity can often be very lonely. There were times I felt I couldn’t go on, it was in those moments that I didn’t quit that I found Jesus as the friend closer than a brother. He is with you, and remains your anchor and hope when you feel hopeless. You are right, God absolutely has a plan for you. You didn’t make it this far to quit. I’m so sorry for what you have been through. I pray for healing from those wounds, even the ones no one will ever apologize for. I pray for restoration in your life and that the Lord would connect you with the right people.

I grew up in as large family, eight brothers and sisters. We were all different, yet we each had jobs to do. It is a great joy to me as we look around the body of Christ, to see all ages and people stepping up to do their part in this Family. As I commented to our local body this, many were encouraged. Yes! GOD is waking us up!!!

I was very encouraged by this. For years, I have been praying for Christians to awaken from sleep and be bold in the present darkness. Jesus said people love darkness rather than light because their deeds are evil. Okay. This is our time to shine and trust God for all He’s doing.

Lord I ask that you will protect the members of your body who are single, but none-the-less vitally important to your kingdom and purposes. I ask that the church will repent of the tunnel vision that sees only families. ALL of your children are under attack; the enemy does give singles a pass in his desire to kill and destroy. I ask that you will change the heart of church leaders so that they will take a stand for singles as well as families because YOUR WORD allows for nothing less.

Thank you. I love that you see the need of recognition for the singles in the Body of Christ. You echoed my thoughts about how the church very often overlooks single people in exchange for their exuberance and cheerleading for godly families.

I loved this. Yes, our God uses beautiful collective terms to describe who we are. We are His family, adopted through the blood of His Son. Collectively we also constitute the Body of Christ, the Body of the Messiah, the Anointed One of God. He works on the earth today through His Spirit and through His Body — little us! And the New Testament term for the word translated as “church” is “the called out ones.” We are the ones who have been called out of the world to be adopted by God and be set apart — be holy — for His purposes, for Him to work through.

Everyone in my very large family and extended family is a Christian, but we are SO divided politically! And I know I’m not alone! I see it as a work of the enemy. There is no way we would all stand in prayer together for anything other than people’s salvation. I am praying that “as The Day approaches”, people will see the need to draw together and stand arm in arm for truth.

Chills all over. I believe this is TRUTH. I’ve witnessed thr enemy blatantly attack my kids since toddlerhood, unfaithfulness has shattered my marriage, it’s a lonely road, but Jesus. He is with us. Suffering. Prevailing Savior. My kids are seeing the unearthing. They know government leaders are being corrupted too. My 3 year old knows about Jesus, and says He is sad that he died for us, but he also knows Jesus is GOD. And has prayed without prompting in the middle of the living room… 🙏 🙌 ✨️ we will see fruit explode and the generation’s YOUNG and OLD preach life and ❤️ love, and truth in a presently a compassionless world.

““You are a king, then!” said Pilate. Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”” John‬ ‭18‬:‭37‬ ‭NIV‬‬

As image bearers of God filled with the Holy Spirit, please give me the conviction of Christ when speaking “TRUTH” to my family, my neighbors, friends, coworkers, and in the community. God’s truths our trustworthy and true and in our culture please let me not be ashamed of the gospel that I hide or misrepresent God’s Truth by being a coward. So, Father God reveal my unconfused sin. so I can be forgiven to be humbled when I address your people for your glory. May I Fear God and Love his people.

Our Father in Heaven, We ask for your forgiveness. We have sinned in word and deed. We have sinned by failing to obey the clear teaching of scripture. We are guilty of not reading Your Word and not learning to listen to the still small voice of Your Holy Spirit. We have been too busy to pray. Too busy to attend church services. Too selfish to tithe and bring our offerings to the church to help the poor and needy. We have not loved our neighbor as ourselves Father and our sins reach to the sky. Our precious children are tempted to take drugs and many lives are being lost. And precious babies continue to be murdered in the womb while childless couples would provide them a loving home. We have been silent when we should have been shouting from the housetops that Jesus saves! Holy Spirit of GOD visit us today we pray and show us the error of our ways and grant us the grace of true repentance that our prayers would be heard and our petitions granted in Jesus Name and for Your glory. Amen.

Wonderful article Gloria!
As a 81yr old Vietnam era U.S. Army Veteran with Grandchildren it resonates on multiple levels. One historic point you mentioned, in certain cases, it does “take a village”, but may I add that it takes a Godly Village. I.E the “Village of Peace” in the Revolutionary War era. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gnadenhutten_massacre

The villages visited by Dr David Livingstone in Africa which can be examined in his diary found on guttenberg.org (use the digital search engine to drill down to “Lake Tanzania” to read a vivid account of Islamic slave trade debaucery).
The villages set free in Uganda by Bob Goff (Love Does – Everybody Always)

There are also powerful prayer-based villages like Hernhutt, Germany with their incredible 100yr long 24/7 prayer vigil, and LeTourneau University in Longview Texas founded by the genius whose credo was “God has a bigger shovel than I do”. He kept only 10% of the fortune he made and seeded the other 90% to the Kingdom. Little surprise that the “Heartbeat” movement in Texas began in Waskom which is only a stone’s throw from Longview…

In summary I guess “Godly Villages make Godly Nations'”
This diatribe was meant as an affirmation of your article and definitely not a criticism.

Oh Lord Jesus! I claim this prayer for healing and reconciliation for my family. Father, I pray that the leadership of our church would take seriously their ministry of reconciliation and seek to reunite our family instead of driving us apart. That they would correct our daughter in her rebellion and rejection of us instead of enabling her and that she would be returned to us. Spirit, I ask for your cleansing and purging of our church, of its leadership, and of the other workers and ministries involved. I pray that we would together with one voice glorify you as Lord and Savior.

HEAVENLY FATHER, we stop and realize that as long as there
is life and breath in a person—THERE IS HOPE……And SO IT IS WITH AMERICA… We cannot allow our hearts to fail us, even though so much seems dark and hopeless.

The birds have seemed so confused this year…..I was terribly disturbed by this….as I realized they too know things are different—not normal…..Some say: What is Normal?—The TRUTH is we only find out what is Normal when we read and study our Bibles daily and walk out each life and their “situations and choices” in life.

In GOD’s Holy WORD, we see him use animals, eagles, etc. in many cases to protect us, to lead us, to guide us when we act foolishly on our own…..WE EACH CAN DO SOME REALLY FOOLISH THINGS AS TIMES IN OUR LIFES.

GOD LOVES AMERICA, and HE is grieved by our present condition—It is the result of decades of sin upon sin—piled on top of each other like a stack of pancakes.

HEAVENLY FATHER, Send YOUR CONVICTING POWER OVER EACH OF US EVEN THIS VERY MOMENT…..Awaken us from sleep, if necessary—However—Whatever—SHOW US THE ERR OF OUR WAYS INDIVIDUALLY AND AS A NATION.

FATHER, We are Desperate for godly leadershjp from the national level all the way down to the local level…..We cry out for JUSTICE to Prevail.

Send an old hymn to play over and over in our heads and our hearts, and draw it out of us to sing along its words and let its Convicting Power do its work.

SAVE OUR CHILDREN, O LORD…Speak to their hearts….Let this Summer be a Turning Point for them, as they cry out for HELP……And let this Summer be a Turning Point for each of us adults from the oldes to the youngest who are weighing in the balance right now.

HOLD US CLOSE, FATHER, FOR WE ARE DESPERATE FOR YOUR HELP AND YOUR COMFORT. i pray this as humbly as I know how in the Precious and Holy Name of my Saviour and my LORD, JESUS CHRIST. Amen and Amen

Amen Lord! Let this summer be the turning point, that we as a nation turn back to You. Please bring justice. Please save our leaders Lord. That is not too hard for You. Please forgive us, Your church for not praying for them with Your holy love and faith filled hope in Your faithfulness. Forgive our impatience, fear and general disobedience. Thank you Lord for those brave, trusting souls You have raised up over the years, to fight the good fight publically, believing bakers and florists for example, who love You and people who are captives in sin, to love them but not their sin.
Lord, like Nehemiah’s generation, You are calling us to remember Whose we are, to have our sword in one hand and whatever You have given each of us in the other, to work together, follow You as You build Your kingdom.
Help us to hear You, trust You and obey!
Oh, for you moms, aunts, sisters, grandmas, check out MomsInPrayerInternational….wonderful prayer ministry that is great for discipleship/fellowship.
