The following is the story of a mother, Amber Wade, whose life was changed thanks to support from her local pregnancy center. Praise God for these centers and all they do for women!
From The Federalist. From my very earliest years, my life was set on a negative trajectory. … By 14 years old, I was on my own, and deep trauma and a sense of abandonment permeated every part of my life. To cope, I turned to drugs and sexual recklessness that quickly consumed my life.

As an adult, I entered into a relationship with a man who, like me, was a drug addict. My addictions intensified the more time I spent with my now ex-husband, and I struggled with poverty and chronic homelessness as he went in and out of prison. …
The government soon took my children … and terminated my rights to them. …
Knowing I needed help, I sought treatment. … During this treatment, I discovered I was pregnant with my third child. I had my son and was living a responsible life until my ex-husband was released from prison and wanted to move in. In my codependency I allowed it, and we quickly relapsed. I then lost my rights to my third child. …
I stopped caring for myself and, just like my ex-husband, ended up incarcerated. Walking numbly, I waited for my life to be over.
Turning My Life Around
But to my surprise, it was in prison that my life began to turn around. There, desperate and hopeless, I finally prayed to God for help for myself and my children. It was then that I promised myself I’d get back up and fight for recovery.
Once out of prison, I got involved at a local church and discovered I was pregnant a fourth time. Terrified of losing a child to the state again, I expressed my fears to my church community, and they connected me with a local maternity home. The decision to seek help at Bethlehem House has transformed every facet of my life …
Bethlehem House wasted no time in making me feel welcomed, loved, and cared for. They gave me a free place to live so I didn’t need to work and could focus on building countless skills I had never acquired, like how to budget money and properly care for my son. Through therapy and sober support groups, I learned how to have healthy relationships and reject the addictions that had formerly ruled my life.
I realized I didn’t have to be on my own anymore — I had a strong, supportive, and patient group of people that ended up becoming family. They helped me find the stability I had always desired …
My Future
I cannot change my past, but it gives me great hope and joy to know my purpose for today and for the future: to love others and share my story with people who are going through similar situations. I want them to know that real, life-changing help does exist, and it begins with faith and the loving family environment at maternity homes like Bethlehem House. …

Father, Thank you that you are the God of new beginnings, and second chances. The God of all grace! You are a faithful, true and loving Father to the fatherless – and to their Mommys. Thank you that we know you’ll never quit, give up or leave us…and that you absolutely love us. Father please give courage and strength to “single parents”, and remind them that they are not alone. Never alone. That your promises hold, and you are holding them. You hear their cry. And you can supply whatever they need, as they learn to trust and lean on you.

Thank God for Bethelem House and other organizations like it who help women to be convicted of their need to straighten up their lives, giving them confidence and helping them to take responsibility for themselves. I pray that Amber will be a blessing to someone who is walking the path she once walked. I pray for Amber as she seeks God’s wisdom, continually walking the straight and narrow path to Him.
Father, thank you for pro-life pregnancy centers! Protect them from the enemy who would destroy them and the hope and help of many women. May women find them when they need them. Protect the women and their unborn children. We praise your name for your love and care.
Amazing Amber Never give up keep fighting for your life. You are worth it and so are the babies.
Father God thank you for the safe havens for unborn children and their mothers thank you for all the people that talk to these mothers help the fathers be included as well father God they are always being pushed out as women make decisions that they should not father God let us rise up and help these women when they become pregnant in Jesus name I pray your kingdom come your will be done on Earth as it is in heaven continue to save the babies through us that work for you
Pray for the evils being proposed in the Vermont State legislature as they have a super majority and think they can do as they please. There are several bills attacking pregnancy resource centers attempting to silence and shut down our services to those who need it so desperately. Victory is the only option here!
God bless Amber and all women who like her have grown up in very bad situations. But threw the grace of God and Christian pregnancy. centers she turned her life around. We need to support these pregnancy centers, so they keep helping the women who need assistance.
Thank you for sharing this article & encouraging prayer for pregnancy centers. I serve at a pregnancy center & it is always a joy to see how God uses us to bless others.
God bless Amber and all those like her who have fulfilling and productive lives because the intervention of Pro-life Pregnancy Centers. May every desperate pregnant woman know about the options available to them and be able to get help. as such centers–which means we in the community need to be supporting them and making their services known!
Praise God for the pro-life pregnancy centers! Lord, please bless them with many supporters so that they will be there for women and children who need their help. May many women be directed to them and find the help they need.
