“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior…” (1 Tim 2:1-3)

“…  President Trump gave his State of the Union Address tonight before a packed house in Congressional chambers.  This was a speech that all Americans could follow and relate to. It is perhaps President Trump’s most “presidential” speech ever, no controversial statements, nothing that could offend. It was peppered with personal stories that lifted the emotional content of the speech very nicely.

… Trump first made a summary of the challenges and accomplishments for the year. It was a good opening, what we would term “motherhood and apple pie.” At one point he said “Our country is strong because our people are strong” to great applause.

He spoke about:

– Some of the tragedies of this year, hurricanes in Houston and Florida, the Las Vegas shooting, fires in California.

– The shooting of Congressman Steve Scalise at the Republican softball practice, and thanking the police, and emergency personnel in the process.

 Economic highlights

— 2.4 million new jobs

— 200k in manufacturing

— rising real wages after years and years of wage stagnation

— unemployment at a 45 year low

— African American unemployment lowest rate ever recorded ….

— 401K, college savings, and other savings way up

– The biggest tax reform in history

– Business Economy is strong and optimistic –

— 3 million workers have gotten tax cut bonuses

— Apple will invest $350 billion in America and hire 20000 workers

— Exxon Mobil announced $50B investment in the U.S.

Then President Trump turned to his base and spoke of issues and events that appealed more to Conservatives.

– He emphasized respecting the flag and “In God We Trust” faith and family

– He called for support the military and police

– He called for support of the constitution as written

– He expressed support for 2nd amendment and religious liberty

– He noted that 1500 VA employees removed who failed to take care of veterans

– He challenged Congress to remove employees who undermine public trust or fail the American people

– He noted that his administration had eliminated more regulations in the first year than any administration in history of America

– He claimed to have ended the “war on American energy” and ended the war on clean coal

– America is now and exporter of energy to the world

– Detroit get motor city revving again, car companies are building and expanding in America

– FDA has approved more generic and new drugs than ever before in history

The President then began to set up the agenda for the next year

Health Care

– Patients with terminal conditions should have access to experimental treatment immediately – the right to try –

– Reduce the price of prescription drugs – one of top priorities for the year

Trade

Trump noted that we have turned the page on decades of unfair trade practices, “the era of economic surrender is over.” Trade from now on will be “fair and reciprocal.” He called upon Congress and intends to fix bad trade deals and negotiate new and good ones – protect workers and intellectual property

Infrastructure

– It is time to rebuild our crumbling infrastructure

– He called on Congress to bill generates $1.5 Trillion – partnering with local and private – streamline bidding and approval.  Trump wants to rebuild with “American Grit”

Workforce

– invest in workforce development and job training – open great vocational schools

– paid family leave

– reforming prisons to help prisoners get a second chance at life

Immigration

MS-13 (the notorious El Salvadoran drug gang infesting America) and other violent illegals, because of loopholes are ending up in the high school with teens. To make sure other families never suffer from this violence, Trump called on Congress to fix immigration to close loopholes that allow in MS-13.

He described his immigration plans as a “down the middle compromise.” It has four pillars:

  1. A path to citizenship for 1.8 million illegal immigrants who were brought by the parent at a young age. They will have to meet education and work requirements over 12 years.
  2. A fully secure the border, including a “great wall,” more ICE officers, closing loopholes, and ending the practice of catch and release on terrorists.
  3. End the visa lottery system, move to merit-based system, take people who are skilled and want to work
  4. Ends chain migration – limit new entries to spouses and minor children

Other issues

– Opioid and drug addiction – we have lost 64000 Americans to drug addiction, we must be tougher on pushers and implement more treatment

– Trump called on Congress to end the defense sequester and fully fund the military

– Trump called on Congress to modernize and rebuild our nuclear armament – as a deterrent

– Blasted North Korea and pledged “maximum pressure” to eliminate the threat of nuclear weapons in the hands of a rogue nation.

– Trump noted that last year he pledged to work with allies to extinguish ISIS, and that we have now liberated close to 100% of territory held by ISIS. He pledged to continue until ISIS is defeated….

The pundits actually found little wrong with the speech.…”(Excerpts from Joe A. Gilbertson’s article in The Post)

We are so grateful, LORD, for President Trump. He is a true servant and patriot of the American people and has demonstrated that in his boldness to uphold the rule of law as established in the US Constitution, and by not caving to the fear of man, has laid down his life for all, as patriots and brothers do for each other in a time of war. And it is a war to recover our initial God-established roots and freedoms. I pray that You, God, would light his lamp and enlighten the darkness. For by You, President Trump can run against a troop and leap over a wall. For who is God, except the LORD? And who is a rock, except our God? Please, God arm President Trump with strength, and make his way perfect. Make his feet like hinds’ feet that are able to stand firmly and make progress on the dangerous heights of testing and trouble, and set him securely upon high places. Teach his hands to make war, so that his arms can bend a bow of bronze. Give him the shield of salvation and hold him up by Your right hand. I pray that You will enlarge his path and that he will pursue his enemies and overtake them and that he will not turn back until the enemies are destroyed. Psalm 18:28-37. O Lord, You know the spiritual darkness we have been living under for years. I pray by the power of Your Holy Spirit, You will come and give glorious victory over the darkness and reestablish Justice, Truth, and Righteousness once again. May this nation bow before You and give You the honor and glory! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

I pray for president Trump and ask you to deal with the Democrats who are causing trouble with getting bills through congress that they will see the need to pass bills as written so Trump can get the job done. Give President Trump that you give Him wisdom and that the Holy Spirit will lead Him every step the way. I will intercede for him daily.

Immigration- return the oath to defend this Nation in applying for citizenship. To understand once and for all that believers in islam when giving an oath put their religion first and are not loyal to anything else. Immigration laws are important because we can’t tell who comes here or has been here if or not they are for this great country.Do we or do we not have a right to refuse business to anyone? We need a law that apply’s to everyone. all laws must be enforced for everyone! -Thank you from Mike Barry

Thank You for filling him liberally with Your skillful Godly wisdom and discernment so that he with Your leading will finish the good works You created for him to work, like cleaning the swamp in the White House and bringing respect and honor and the sanctity for human life back to our disillusioned, much deceived nation to Your honor and glory, Making America Great Again. In Jesus’,name I thank You for these things. Amen.

As a USMC Mom of a son who proudly served in Iraq, I’d give President Trump an A++ for his speech last evening. I was truly energized by his words, but unfortunately, the Democrats were not. I totally agree with Susan and Sandi’s words above and may God continue to Bless the USA!!!

Thank God we have a man who honors God and who supports Christian values. God is doing more than all we could ask or think, and we need to see this increase and continue this coming year. Nothing short of a Spirit led revival will bring this nation to it’s knees, and it needs to start with the church.
