Even as many Republicans are calling for change, President-elect Trump has endorsed Mike Johnson to keep the speaker’s gavel. What do you think?
(The Center Square) — President-elect Donald Trump on Monday endorsed Speaker of the U.S. House Mike Johnson to keep his leadership role when a new Congress is sworn in after the first of the year.

Trump’s endorsement comes after conservative members of Congress criticized Johnson for his handling of a continuing resolution to keep the federal government open until March, saying he initially caved to Democrats’ spending wishes.
“The American people need IMMEDIATE relief from all of the destructive policies of the last Administration,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Speaker Mike Johnson is a good, hard working, religious man. He will do the right thing, and we will continue to WIN. Mike has my Complete & Total Endorsement. MAGA!!!”
Trump, Vice President-elect J.D. Vance, billionaire Elon Musk and conservative members of Congress opposed the first resolution Johnson unveiled, which included billions of dollars of new spending.
“The last CR we did was 21 pages,” U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., wrote on X. This [one] is 1,547. Let that sink in. More pages, more taxpayer dollars flushed down the drain.”
Johnson quickly regrouped, and introduced a scaled-back, 118-page version that was approved by the House and the Senate and signed by President Joe Biden.
The new Congress is scheduled to be sworn into office Friday, Jan. 3.

Heavenly Father, I am grateful to you for keeping Mike Johnson as Speaker of the House in our government here in the USA! You know, Lord, that this man is truly a praying man and we need so many of his kind directing this government for such a time as this! Thank You, also, Lord, for making our recent election a true and powerful one without the disgusting corruption that was 2020. I pray that Your Holy Spirit will guide and direct President Trump in his decisions of love, mercy and justice for this nation. We elected Trump; he knows the entire situation from the inside better than we do. I think we should trust his decision to support Mike Johnson. Mike is a Christian. We need to hold him up in prayer as he works in a very difficult situation. As well we need to hold Pres Trump and each one up in prayer. We live in a crazy world and we need to cover them with lots of prayer.
Like to add that everyone remember how Paul Ryan betrayed us with obamacare which is a money pit that continues to drain resources down the toilet. Then cry baby mccain thumbs down he might as well flipped us off. I thank him for his service but he lost all respect with me and many others for his thumbs down action. Sorry, God forgive me.

LJW, we have all experienced this kind of disappointment, whether with people in politics, or in the institutional church, or at our place of employment, or . . . numerous places – even within our own families. But even in that disappointment, there is One who only “appoints”, and never “disses” us. The danger is becoming bitter or cynical. Your plea for forgiveness tells me you are not there yet, and your tender heart doesn’t want to go there. Sometimes we just have to go back to these words from the old hymn – Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus – “the arm of flesh will fail you, ye dare not trust (even) your own”. Keep trusting in God alone, for He and He alone is worthy of our trust.
Father God, we pray that the Speaker of the House will remain Mike Johnson. We know that he is a praying man, and we need a lot of that kind. May You have the final word on this. Let Your perfect will be done in the House of Representatives, as it is done in Heaven! In Jesus’s Holy Name above all names, Amen! We declare it and ask that You decree it!
I have very little faith in Johnson he has shown he is a politician. If Trump’s picks are not people of faith to the one true God or surrender to do God’s will then we are destined to repeat the history that happened to the Jews by Nebuchanezzer (sp?). I trust in God only and pray that He will protect all who pray and follow His laws. Be safe and be kind.

Dear Father, give Pres. Trump insight and confirmation on who needs to be the Speaker. If Johnson will not follow your way, I pray you take him out of the way and so be it on every level that your will and your country founded upon and for you will flourish and prosper while keeping your ways.

We pray against unhealthy discord or disunity in the House of Representatives. We seek civil discourse, the Spirit of Excellence and humility from each representative. This position belongs first to You LORD. Let Your words come forward in every meeting and assembly, putting to action and work Your divine will. Remind each appointed representative to be at work for You. Thank You LORD! We give You all the praise and glory. In Jesus’ mighty name.

Speaker Johnson has a very difficult roe to hoe keeping this congress and nation on the right track. He needs all the prayer support we can muster, so that good and righteous policies are inacted from the representatives of the people, and not party politics.
Johnson is a meathead and has sold us down the river repeatedly. Trump is not correct here in my view, and will be dealing with a Speaker who has lost credibility with his own majority much less a very large contingent of Christians that see Johnson as ineffective, weak and gutless against the Democrats and have actually partnered with Dems and their programs to get budgets or continuing resolutions past. We continue to fund programs and activities with our Conservative Tax dollars that we abhor!! We need to wake up!!!

I agree with President Trump! He has a great relationship with Johnson and a change will hinder President Trump’s progress to accomplishing the Plans that he was elected by God to carry out for the American people! I am praying that Johnson will be reelected!
I’m praying for all newly appointed government leaders to be led by the Holy Spirit, to receive power and discernment to restore what the enemy has stolen and uncover any lies so all people will love and look to Jesus, do what’s right towards towards mankind and help one another and our country give them wisdom beyond measure. I’m in favor of keeping Mike Johnson – this is not a time for the Republicans to appear fractured in any situation- President Trumps leadership will guide rbis new Congress and Rep Johnson will follow the lead as should all republicans right now- the first 100 days are critical to getting the agenda proposed started

There have been so many politicians that start out looking like they are for good. I believe God gives us the infinite wisdom when we ask for it, especially for his will in prayer. I, personally believe praying that Mike Johnson first be not deceived. That if he is confirmed, that he be bowing his knee only to righteous acts and not be bought. That if he will not stay the course, that God will remove him and place another that will serve Gods purposes. Whomever gets the speakers gavel will be lead by the Holy Spirit and humbly serve.
YHVH, please lead and direct in making this decision. We want Your choice for Speaker of the House! Please bless Mike Johnson for his service in this role.
