I Prayed have prayed
Dear Heavenly Father, we lift Your holy Word up to You. Please rise up and have mercy on our nation, as You said You would do. Cast down every evil thing while You prosper the righteous and heal our land. Thank You. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
Reading Time: 4 minutes

Several weeks ago, we began praying through the Psalms for America. You can find the prayer points from Psalms 1-2 here, and those from Psalm 3-4 here.

Have you taken your place on the wall?

Remember that the Word of God is the highest and best vocabulary for prayer.

Psalm 12:6 tells us that the Word of the Lord is pure:

The words of the Lord are pure words, like silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times (Psalm 12:6 NKJV).

And Psalm 138:1-2 tells us that God has actually magnified His Word above all of His name:

I will praise You with my whole heart; before the gods I will sing praises to You. I will worship toward Your holy temple, and praise Your name for Your lovingkindness and Your truth; for You have magnified Your word above all Your name (Psalm 138:1-2 NKJV).

If God has magnified His Word above even the name of Jesus—that name that is above every name—then His Word must be pretty important! And truly, it is. His Word clearly tells us what His perfect will is. Therefore, when we pray His Word back to Him, we pray in symphony and agreement with what He already wants to do—and visible results follow!

Today, as we return to the Psalms, let’s pray the following points from Psalm 5:

  • Pray that the Lord would once again wake up Americans with a fervor to pray—morning, noon, and night.
  • Pray that Christians will not regard iniquity in our hearts (see Psalm 66:18), so that the Lord will hear and heed our prayers.
  • Pray that the Lord would either change the hearts of OR remove from government all those who are wicked, boastful, workers of iniquity, liars, bloodthirsty, and deceitful.
  • Pray that the Lord would fill every governmental worker at every level with His Spirit of Truth, and that He would guide them into all truth.
  • Pray that the mercy of the Lord our God would be upon us, and on this nation.
  • Pray that an outpouring of worship—and actual worship of God in spirit and in truth—would break out in America, from sea to shining sea.
  • Pray that godly churches would be full again of people who are seeking the Lord with all their hearts.
  • Pray for an outpouring of the Spirit of the fear of the Lord upon every politician and government worker in America.
  • Pray for every godly official that the Lord would lead them in His righteousness because of their enemies; that He would go before them, and would make their way straight before their face.
  • Pray that the wicked would fall by their own counsels, and would be replaced by godly servants of the Most High who have America’s best interests at heart.
  • Pray for good news. Pray that the move of God in America would be evident to all, and that praise report after praise report would come forth in the news and would glorify the Lord.
  • Pray that all those who trust in the Lord would rejoice and shout for joy because GOD has risen up to defend them. Pray also that His defense of the righteous would be obvious, rapid, and evident.
  • Pray for every godly politician that the Lord would bless them, and would surround them with favor as with a shield.

From Psalm 6, let’s pray the following points:

  • Pray that the Lord’s mercy would be on America, instead of His rebuke and discipline.
  • Pray that all of us His people, who are called by His name, would humble ourselves and pray and seek His face, turning from our wicked ways—so that He can hear from heaven, forgive our sins, and heal our land. (See 2 Chronicles 7:14.)
  • Pray that, even before and during the time that He heals our land, He would heal every godly person—for even our bones and our souls are greatly troubled over the wicked state of our nation.
  • Pray that the Lord would show us (everyday Americans) AND every politician what the times and the seasons are. Ask Him to pour out on us the anointing of the tribe of Issachar—that we would know the times and the seasons, and what the nation ought to do.
  • Ask the Lord to pursue every wicked person in government with visions of Jesus. Pray that He would convict them and give them no peace until they repent and bow the knee to Jesus.
  • Pray that the Lord would deliver every person in political office from ungodly counsel, and would bring them only godly counsel instead. Pray also that they would only listen to and heed godly counsel.
  • Pray that all the enemies of the Lord would be ashamed and greatly troubled; that they would turn back; and that sudden conviction would be upon them. Let God arise, and His enemies be scattered!

Beloved, as you pray the Word of God back to Him, His will can prosper in our land—and He will make this country flourish again.

It’s time for a revival of love for God’s Holy Word in our nation. As you pray according to the Word, I believe He will answer and bring that revival, holiness, peace, and prosperity of every type back to our land!

Hebrews 4:11-13; Psalm 19 “The Witness of Creation and Scripture”

O, My God! I love Jamie’s word, bless her! I love Your Word, it is alive, effective, penetrating, judging, and IT exposes to YOU every idea and thought of our heart… it is:
perfect instruction
righteous precepts
reliable
pure, bringing us to fear and be in awe of You alone!
Your Word enables us to pray and believe that You will keep us from willful sins; You will not allow any sinful rule to dominate us and You will keep us innocent and cleansed from blatant rebellion. I praise You Father, Son and Holy Spirit… continue to convict hearts and draw all people to Your Word. Amen

That interpretation doesn’t sound right; God isn’t going to put anything above Himself. In John chapter 1, The Word came down and dwelt among us, and in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God, so THAT I can see, that Jesus Himself is exalted above His own Name. We need to worship HIM, not His Bible, not His Power, not His Name, no we need to worship Jesus HIMSELF!

Hi Michele. To clarify: The Scripture does not say that God magnifies His Word above Himself. It says specifically that He magnifies His Word above all His name. Jesus is the same thing as the Word; and, in fact, Jesus was actually called “The Word” before He came to earth as a baby. The Word of God equals the Person of Jesus, and John chapter 1 tells us this specifically. So yes, He has magnified His Word above His name because He has magnified His Person above His name.
    Blessings to you.
