I Prayed have prayed
Father God, Your Word says that wisdom is the first thing we should seek. We come to You today to intercede for our nation. Give our people wisdom, Lord, that we may live righteously and that we may have peace. In Jesus’ name.
Reading Time: 5 minutes

Did you know that the Bible contains a specific word about how to handle rioters and arsonists in cities? It’s true! That word is found in Proverbs 29:8:

“Scoffers set a city aflame, but wise men turn away wrath.”

Over the last few years, we have seen rioting and burning of cities at an unprecedented level. Rioting and burning has been used as an unholy political tool—one which God’s people MUST disavow and reject with all our hearts. We are not to participate in such activities.

But God HAS given us a solution—a solution not only to stopping the rioting, but also a solution that will stop all the other wicked and lawless activities in America today!

The solution is His wisdom! Proverbs 29:8 tells us that scoffers set a city aflame, but it also tells us that  people who are full of God’s wisdom can turn away the wrath of the scoffers. Can you imagine what would happen if every government official, community organizer, and activist were filled with the wisdom of God?

James 3:17 says, “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.” If every person at every level of government and community leadership were filled with the wisdom from above, then we would have peace. Righteousness would rule and reign; mercy and kindness would cover our nation from sea to shining sea.

Although it may feel like we don’t see God’s wisdom active very often in government or leadership right now, as intercessors we can pray it into existence.

We can stand in the gap before the Lord, asking Him to pour out His wisdom on our nation by His Spirit.

Will you join me in praying for an outpouring of wisdom today?

Pray this:

“Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus’ name.

Father God, thank You for Your Word. Thank You for giving us all the solutions we need, even when we think Your solutions are too simple to be effective. Thank You for Your mercy, for You are ever teaching us how to pray and stand in the gap before You for our land.

Abba Father, Your Word says that wisdom is the principal thing we need. Your Word tells us that wisdom is from Your Spirit; You are Wisdom Itself. And since You are all we need, and Your Spirit of wisdom is a manifestation of You, we intercede before You today for America in this matter.

Lord, we need wisdom. In Jesus’ name, we ask that You would pour out Your Holy Spirit of wisdom on America. Let every person in every government seat be suddenly filled with wisdom. The kings’ hearts are in Your hands, Lord, and You turn them wherever You wish; so let them be filled with wisdom even if they don’t want Your wisdom. Like Balaam, even if people desire to reject You and Your wisdom, turn their hearts to embrace it instead.

Father, we also ask that, as You pour out wisdom on America, You would remove unwise counsel from the ears of every person. Surround every person in America, particularly those in government, with wise counselors. Deliver them from every unholy counselor. Let the righteous who operate in Your wisdom increase in influence and favor, but remove every bit of influence and favor that the wicked, lawless, and foolish have.

Father, we pray also for wisdom and discernment for the American people.

Let us see things how they really are. Give us understanding according to Your Word! Let the wool no longer be pulled over our eyes, Lord; let us see through every plot, trick, lie, and machination of the enemy with the wisdom You give us—the wisdom from above.

Father, we ask that, as You pour out Your Spirit of wisdom upon this nation, You would bring great revival.

Your wisdom always points to Christ, so we ask for a massive visitation of Jesus as You do give us Your wisdom. Let Jesus, the Man in white, appear to every person who has rejected Him but still has a chance at salvation. Let every lost soul bow the knee and make Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior. Turn every ungodly activist, community leader, government official, and influencer of every kind toward Your wisdom and toward Your Son.

Father, we ask that Jesus would be lifted up in every home in America:

  • Let every adult and every child have dreams and visions of Christ while they sleep at night.
  • Appear to people at home, at work, on the road.
  • Break through drug highs and reveal Jesus.
  • Break into hurting marriages and reveal Jesus, bringing conviction, salvation, and restoration into those homes and families.
  • Break through depression, hopelessness, and despair and reveal Your Son.

In Jesus’ name, Holy Father, we ask that You would pour out Your Spirit of wisdom in every home, church, school, store, and office in America:

  • Let prayer meetings and Bible studies begin at offices, stores, restaurants, and coffee shops.
  • Let the revivals and worship services that have begun in the parks and parking lots spread like wildfire. Let it be Your WORSHIP that spreads, instead of rioting, looting, burning, and every form of ungodliness.
  • Let employees, business owners, and workers at every level begin testifying to those around them of their saving faith in Christ.
  • Let healings, miracles, signs, and wonders go forth as You work with Your people, confirming their witness with Your mighty deeds.

Father, we need Your wisdom from above.

Your wisdom from above “is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.” It is Your wisdom, and Your wisdom alone, that can turn America around. So do it, Lord. We ask; we believe; we take and receive Your promise for our very own—that if we ask for wisdom, You will give it generously and without reproach.

Thank You for Your wisdom, Father. We give You all the praise and all the glory, and we thank You for saving America.

In Jesus’ name we pray, amen!”

Beloved, we need an outpouring of wisdom in America. If wisdom is the principal thing that each individual believer in Christ needs to obtain, then certainly it is the principal thing our nation needs as well! Will you continue praying for the Spirit of wisdom to be manifest in our nation every day?

This is exactly what we need in America—wisdom that comes from God! So much confusion and division has been caused by the enemy. It’s wisdom from God that will bring unity. I loved these words: “Let the wool no longer be pulled over our eyes, Lord; let us see through every plot, trick, lie, and machination of the enemy with the wisdom You give us—the wisdom from above.” I am praying in agreement.
I have been praying for quite a while for revival to sweep across America and spread around the world, for the glory of the Lord God Almighty!

The Holy Scriptures are clear that the Holy Fear of the LORD is the beginning of Wisdom. The children of the Kingdom, all the sons and daughters- our brothers and sisters… and we specifically must learn to walk in the Holy Fear of the LORD. I so appreciate and agree with Jamie’s essay and prayer~ AMEN!

Let’s ponder what level of Wisdom is imparted to each of us with a clear understanding of the Holy Fear of the LORD:

And let us be wise about the truth of what is happening to America & our wayward planet:

These two verses are a couple of my favorites:
Proverbs 9:10
The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning (the chief and choice part) of Wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight and understanding.
Proverbs 4:7
The beginning of Wisdom is: get Wisdom (skillful and godly Wisdom)! [For skillful and godly Wisdom is the principal thing.] And with all you have gotten, get understanding (discernment, comprehension, and interpretation).

Lord, forgive us for leaning upon our own understanding and upon our own “smart-thinking.” Impart to us humility of mind and heart. We seek wisdom as our sister. Holy Spirit, send wisdom to our minds and our souls. Overshadow this nation with the spirit of wisdom and understanding from above. In Jesus’ name. Amen

Lord I pray you grant us all wisdom and discernment as well as boldness and clarity in our speech. Lord let us all endeavor to spread Your word, and May we all, at the very least, plant the righteous seeds of Your wisdom in the minds of those we encounter every day. May the scales be lifted from the eyes of the deceived and May our nation again be a beacon of Your light and truth in this darkening world. In Jesus precious name I pray, O’ Lord, Amen.

Riddle: What does this mean? “The knowledge of wisdom is understanding” 🙂

Maybe this verse from Proverbs in the Amplified version will help:
    Proverbs 4:7
The beginning of Wisdom is: get Wisdom (skillful and godly Wisdom)! [For skillful and godly Wisdom is the principal thing.] And with all you have gotten, get understanding (discernment, comprehension, and interpretation).
    Here’s another one:
    Proverbs 9:10
The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning (the chief and choice part) of Wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight and understanding.

Great article, as usual, Jamie. You are a great encourager. We obviously need wisdom in all that we say or do in the times that we find ourselves living in. I pray for revival on a daily basis. It is so desperately needed in our nation! I pray for salvation for the multitudes of lost people, especially the people in all governmental capacities in our nation. Lord, please , give people abundant wisdom. Cause Your children to hear the still, small voice of Holy Spirit as You speak into their lives and impart wisdom to them. In Jesus’ holy name.

Whole Duty Of Man

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. Ecclesiastes 12:13

And how are we to “keep His commandments”?

One way is in the acquisition of Wisdom.
Therefore…
What Is Single Duty Of Man
W I S D O M
WISDOM

Rene Descartes on Common Sense:

“Common sense is the most fairly distributed thing in the world, for each one thinks he is so well-endowed with it that even those who are hardest to satisfy in all other matters are not in the habit of desiring more of it than they already have.”

Substitute “wisdom” for “common sense” and one begins to witness the true malady of man. As my brother Jerry taught me to pray; Lord, that we would seek you as much as we need you…”

Wisdom reposes in the heart of the discerning and even among fools she lets herself be known. Proverbs 14:33

The First Chapter of Proverbs teaches us its purpose:

To have knowledge of wise teaching; to be clear about the words of reason: To be trained in the ways of wisdom, in righteousness and judging truly and straight behaviour: To make the simple-minded sharp, and to give the young man knowledge, and serious purpose: (The wise man, hearing, will get greater learning, and the acts of the man of good sense will be wisely guided:) To get the sense of wise sayings and secrets, and of the words of the wise and their dark sayings. The fear of the Lord is the start of knowledge: but the foolish have no use for wisdom and teaching. My son, give ear to the training of your father, and do not give up the teaching of your mother: For they will be a crown of grace for your head, and chain-ornaments about your neck.

Both James and Jeremiah exhort us in this fashion:

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5

“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” Jeremiah 33:3

We are further encouraged in the writings of the Proverbs:

“Incline your ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply your heart to my knowledge,” Proverbs 22:17

And finally as only the apostle Paul can express it:

“For Christ sent me, not to give baptism, but to be a preacher of the good news: not with wise words, for fear that the cross of Christ might be made of no value. For the word of the cross seems foolish to those who are on the way to destruction; but to us who are on the way to salvation it is the power of God. As it says in the holy Writings, I will put an end to the wisdom of the wise, and will put on one side the designs of those who have knowledge. Where is the wise? where is he who has knowledge of the law? where is the man of this world who has a love of discussion? has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For because, by the purpose of God, the world, with all its wisdom, had not the knowledge of God, it was God’s pleasure, by so foolish a thing as preaching, to give salvation to those who had faith in him. Seeing that the Jews make request for signs, and the Greeks are looking for knowledge: But we give the good news of Christ on the cross, a hard thing to the Jews, and a foolish thing to the Gentiles; But to those of God’s selection, Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power and the wisdom of God. Because what seems foolish in God is wiser than men; and what seems feeble in God is stronger than men. For you see God’s design for you, my brothers, that he has not taken a great number of the wise after the flesh, not the strong, not the noble: But God made selection of the foolish things of this world so that he might put the wise to shame; and the feeble things that he might put to shame the strong; And the low things of the world, and the things without honour, did God make selection of, yes, even the things which are not, so that he might make as nothing the things which are: So that no flesh might have glory before God. But God has given you a place in Christ Jesus, through whom God has given us wisdom and righteousness and salvation, and made us holy: So that, as it is said in the holy Writings, Whoever has a desire for glory, let his glory be in the Lord.“ (1Corinthians 1:17-31)

From the Tree of Live in the garden to the Tree of Life in a vision on Patmos… there is no shadow of turning…
