I Prayed have prayed
Lord, we pray for your protection on the life and liberty of our brothers and sisters in Christ suffering intensely for Your Name around the world.

“Antisemitism, Christian persecution, anti-Muslim hatred, and other forms of intolerance are on the rise,” Rashad Hussain, President Joe Biden’s nominee to fill the role of U.S. Ambassador for International Religious Freedom, told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. In fact, he said 80 percent of the world’s population live in places with serious religious liberty restrictions. As an example, Hussain highlighted “the plight of the patriarch of the Eritrean Orthodox Church unable to leave his home to tend to his flock.”

“Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:10)

Hussain was referring to Patriarch Abune Antonios, who refused to bow to the Eritrean government, particularly when it demanded the excommunication of thousands of worshippers and when he protested the arrest of priests. Government agents placed Antonios under house arrest in 2006, abducted him from his home in 2007, and continue to force him to live detained to this day.

Sadly, Antonios’ suffering is only one example of many in that small nation by the Red Sea. Open Doors ranks Eritrea, a small nation in the Horn of Africa, #6 on its list of most dangerous nations for Christians, and it says the situation for non-Orthodox Christians is even worse. According to Open Doors:

Government security forces monitor phone calls, scrutinize activity and conduct countless raids which target Christians, seize Christian materials and damage house churches. Christians can be arrested and imprisoned without trial. Many Christians are held in inhumane prisons because of their faith, and their loved ones often do not know where they are or even if they are still alive.

The non-Orthodox, as well as those who have converted from Muslim backgrounds, also face discrimination when they seek social services.

Eritrea’s case is, unfortunately, just a taste of the increasingly intense persecution around the world. Open Doors says over 340 million Christians are facing this extreme peril for being followers of Christ. To put that in context, that is 1-in-8 Christians worldwide! It’s also a number bigger than the entire population of the United States.

So what can we do to help? Well, we can certainly advocate for our brothers and sisters in Christ. And we can press our national leaders to actively do the same in international arenas.

But right now — this weekend, in fact — you can join a global call to prayer.

Sunday, November 7, is the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church. This annual event is in its 25th year after being launched in 1996 by the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA). It’s now a rallying point for churches and ministries around the world.

“When you meet with persecuted Christians, the first thing that they ask of you is to pray for them,” said Godfrey Yogarajah, WEA’s Ambassador for Religious Freedom, in a recent press release.

WEA added, “Discrimination and persecution take on many forms, such as being outcast from society, verbally or physically abused, slandered, wrongly accused of coercing others to change their faith, abducted, forcibly married, imprisoned and even martyred.” And those attacks can come from both government agents directly or societal antagonists allowed to mistreat their Christian neighbors.

Yogarajah, added, “As a global family of believers, let us not miss this opportunity to unite in prayer for our brothers and sisters who share our faith, but not our freedoms.”

We know there is power in prayer! This Sunday, let’s pull out our prayer points (like this resource from Open Doors), and pray in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Christ facing intense fire around the world.

How are you praying for the persecution that is happening in the world? Let us know in the comments below!

A heart breaking source of the pandemic truth of Christian persecution is ‘The Voice of the Martyrs’ at http://www.persecution.com. The ministry was founded by Richard & Sabina Wurmbrand in 1967 and has done outstanding relief efforts worldwide to date. These two suffered enormously for their faith with Richard spending 14 years in prison under severe torture and malnutriton. Please study their website along with Open Doors, and allow the LORD to impress your hearts in prayer as to partnering with these ministries. Fasting and prayer are needed in greater measure than ever.

The current persecution of Biblical Christianity sadly includes our current Federal government tyranny. Please review the updated exposé here: https://zionsgate.wordpress.com/2021/09/16/it-is-time-to-free-america/

ABBA Father, Your Divine Justice and Vengeance are needed in this very traumatic time in which we all live. Remove ALL the evil doers and those who reject your Sovereignty in the affairs of men. May we see a Revival in Your church and a Great Awakening throughout the nations. For Your Glory Alone, in Jesus’ Name, AMEN.

If you want to know more about Rashad Hussein, I found an old article which explains his background. https://patriotpost.us/opinion/5035-who-is-rashad-hussain-2010-02-18.
Then, pray.

Father, I ask that you would expose Rashad Hussein for who he really is and what he represents. Lord, I ask that his nomination to this position be rejected.
Lord, so many of our brothers and sisters in the Lord are running for their lives, are in hiding, have given their lives to the glory of God.
I Peter 5:8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 So resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brothers and sisters who are in the world. 10 After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
Father, help the persecuted to be on the alert. May we all resist the devil standing firm in our faith. Our brothers and sisters are suffering but the God of all Grace will Himself perfect, confirm, strength, and establish us all. Hallelujah. Amen.

Lord,
Your are God, All powerful and All knowing. We trust in Your Soverign will. Thank You for the opportunity to intercede for our brothers and sisters who willingly stand for Christ. Strengthen and comfort them. Grant them great courage and resolve as they stand for You! Lord, May we too show courage and resolve when we face circumstances that require us to stand for Truth. May we seek Your approval over man. May we follow the example of Christ to stand against the culture! Give us courage just as You gave Ester, Daniel and Stephen! We ask in Jesus Name

How sad that any Christian anywhere be persecuted for his or her faith, and put in jail for years and mistreated because they believe in Jesus. How sad that one person wants to overtake and control another because of their beliefs!
Lord God we pray for these, your people, your people Lord who go to do good in your name! Please set them free, you see they are remaining faithful to you in these horrible circumstances. Please come to their rescue! And give them freedom supernaturally! Surround them with your angels to help them!
In Jesus’ name I pray!

Hello Brothers in Christ,

My heart is melting and my eyes are in tears whenever I read and see such persecutions against our brothers and sisters in Christ. It is good to see that there are some really kind hearted people who pray and take actions through this portal. As a first step we must pray for the persecuted and at the same time we should also need to think that in what way that we can help them. As given in Acts, when persecution broke out in early Church, they flee to different locations and also in other passage we see that when Paul was caught up by the mob, some brothers helped him to escape from the place. Likewise in many other places that we see how the fellow brothers helped the persecuted. So in similar lines I was thinking that why not we ask the government to take these people as refugees into the country and give them an opportunity to work there after giving the necessary training. The country is importing people every year through different visas for various employment opportunities, so why not doing this way? This would help both government and our persecuted community, even such things also could act as way of showing humanity to the world.

Regards
John
