Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson signed a law Tuesday to ban the killing of unborn babies in abortions throughout the state.
Prior to signing the law, the Republican governor expressed hopes that it will prompt the U.S. Supreme Court to reconsider Roe v. Wade, KNWA News 5 reports. . . .
The Arkansas Unborn Child Protection Act (Senate Bill 6) passed the state legislature by a strong majority. If enacted, the bill would ban all abortions in the state. The only exceptions would be if the mother’s life or health are at risk. Abortionists who violate the ban would face up to 10 years in prison. Women would not be punished.
“Arkansas is the most pro-life state in the nation and never have our constituents or Arkansans ever voted for abortion in Arkansas,” said state Rep. Mary Bentley, R-Perryville, the lead sponsor of the bill in the House.
The law could protect nearly 3,000 unborn babies from abortions in Arkansas every year. However, the American Civil Liberties Union already has promised to file a legal challenge. . .
State Sen. Jason Rapert, R-Conway, the lead sponsor of the bill, said the legal challenge is part of the point, and he hopes it will prompt the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade. But some pro-life leaders expressed concerns about the possibility of a legal challenge backfiring, saying the courts could instead decide to solidify the so-called “right” to abort an unborn baby.
Some pro-lifers have renewed hope that the Supreme Court will uphold an abortion ban and overturn Roe v. Wade. . . .
Though the high court currently has a conservative majority, Chief Justice John Roberts, who was nominated by a Republican president, has sided with the liberal justices on a number of occasions.
In 1973, the Supreme Court took away the states’ ability to protect unborn babies from abortion under Roe v. Wade, and instead forced states to legalize abortion on demand. Roe made the United States one of only seven countries in the world that allows elective abortions after 20 weeks. . . .

Father, in Jesus’ Name thank you for Arkansas’ stand on abortion. Lord, I pray you will move all people in America to value the lives of the unborn, and create an atmosphere of “reverance for life”. PRAISE GOD FOR THIS LIFE-SAVING STATE! Praying every single state in the USA does likewise!
In our constitutional republic, and codified in the tenth amendment, the U.S. Supreme Court never had the right to pass any sort of judgement regarding abortion. It is not part of their enumerated powers and states need to just nullify anything the Supreme Court says in this regard. Do not let the Supreme Court dictate whether a state can or cannot make laws protecting the right to life of the unborn! States MUST learn to stand up to the federal government and start operating in accordance with the constitution!! This applies in so many areas, gun rights, free speech, etc etc. God gave us a magnificent gift in our constitution, are we brave enough to start standing firm in support of that wise contract between the sovereign states?

May God give courage, common sense, and fear of God to every state legislature and to every Governor (Republican or Democrat) that live in a society of human beings created in the image of God (with a soul, body, and spirit): we do not murder our babies in cold blood. The very act is barbaric as human sacrifice in previous societies who worship idols and offered their children to false gods. Governor Asa Hutchinson is to be applauded. May many more states follow in those courageous footsteps.

In 1966 I went through Dachau, the death camp in Munich. From that moment I have hated abortion with all my being. Whether Jew or unborn, all in HIS image. Pray for Northam, governor of Virginia too, talks to mother of a baby that is born in spite of attempt to abort by him. My sincere hope and prayer is that the election was fraudulent, so many godly folks in that state. Truly an event worthy of praise. This is the most encouraging piece of news I have heard in a very long time. The debate needs to remain alive until it is won and the right to life is protected forevermore.
Lord, please continue working on and in the hearts of Americans to respect life, especially of those least able to protect themselves. In the name of Jesus.
This is such wonderful news! Praise the Lord! We all need to pray that all the other states in the US, including California, will follow suit. I know that California is the most liberal state in the country, but there are conservative Christian areas of this state, too, including the San Joaquin Valley where I live. Right now, we are very close to recalling our governor, Gavin Newsom, and I just pray to God that we can replace him with a conservative Christian. From what I understand, John Cox is up for the job. I will be voting for him. It’s high time for California to change it’s far-Left liberal ways and come over to the conservative side. With God, all things are possible.

Hopefully, we can vote out other liberal Democrats in California like Dianne Fienstein, Nancy Pelosi, and other California liberals in office. They are no better than Gavin Newsom, and it’s time for them to go, as well.

Praise Jesus! This is wonderful but so far to go on this. Lord Jesus help! What happens when someone brings a claim up against the state and it goes to the Supreme Court? The Supreme Court has proven that they are not to be trusted. Pray for the Supreme Court. For some demonic reason those conservative justices appointed go in conservative and end up siding with the those on the left. Not the other way around. Why is this? It’s proven. Perhaps some say it’s pier pressure or they were never really truly on the “right” side. But I give glory to God and thanks to those in Arkansas defending life. I do not believe it will be the end of this thou. Satan’s favorite tool for power is child sacrifice and he wants all of us involved, whether thru tax payer funded abortions, our food, sodas and vaccines, our medical procedures, teaching our children about it at earlier and earlier lives as acceptable to kill an unborn child, corrupting our children’s morals. Finally some body has done the right thing, NO ABORTIONS PERIOD! As for the supreme court, it no longer exists, they are traitors to the american people now. This past election has proven that. President Trump is still president and all 75 million plus should stand up for him!
I hope all of the other states take the same action and tell the so called supreme court to go to hell, along with the demecrates!
