The statement comes as the organization resumes receiving federal Medicaid reimbursements and reports continued growth in both abortion and transgender-related services.

Planned Parenthood said abortion is “gender-affirming care” Monday in a social media post declaring that “reproductive freedom means every person gets to decide what’s right for their own body. No exceptions.”

A recent report from Concerned Women for America Legislative Action found a 40% increase in so-called “gender-affirming care” services at 14 of Planned Parenthood’s biggest affiliates from 2024 to 2025.

At the same time, Planned Parenthood recorded 434,450 abortions in fiscal year 2025, up 8% from the previous year and 34% since 2014. That comes as Planned Parenthood has pushed for more abortions via pill.

Planned Parenthood’s transgender services include prescribing cross-sex hormones, providing puberty blockers, and referring patients for transgender surgeries. According to annual reports cited by Concerned Women for America Legislative Action, several of the organization’s largest affiliates saw significant increases in these services over the past year. One California affiliate also highlighted its support for legislation expanding legal protections for so-called “gender-affirming care” for people of all ages.

The organization’s statement also comes shortly after it regained the ability to bill Medicaid for non-abortion services following the expiration of temporary funding restrictions. Although Medicaid reimbursements have resumed, Planned Parenthood says it continues to face financial challenges after the closure of approximately 50 facilities during the funding interruption. Meanwhile, pro-life lawmakers and advocacy groups are urging Congress to include new provisions in upcoming spending legislation that would once again block federal funding for the nation’s largest abortion provider.

For many Americans, this debate extends beyond healthcare funding to broader questions about the sanctity of life, parental rights, and the medical treatment of children experiencing gender dysphoria. As Planned Parenthood continues expanding both abortion and transgender-related services, these issues are likely to remain at the forefront of national policy discussions. Let’s ask God to protect the unborn, bring truth and healing to those struggling with identity, and give lawmakers wisdom as they consider future funding decisions.
