America, a beacon of hope and opportunity, has always opened its doors to those seeking a better life. Yet, a recent report from the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) indicates a surge in the U.S. immigrant population that is unparalleled in history.

Unprecedented Growth

The CIS report reveals that as of March 2024, the U.S. immigrant population, both legal and illegal, has swelled to a record 51.6 million, making up 15.6 percent of the total U.S. populace. This signifies a growth of 5.1 million over the past two years, the most significant biennial increase ever recorded in U.S. history.

Employment Among New Arrivals

Interestingly, less than half of the immigrants who have arrived since 2022 are currently employed. In the early part of 2024, only 46 percent of those who arrived in 2022 or later were gainfully employed. Moreover, a mere 8 percent of the 2.5 million new arrivals who are unemployed are actively seeking employment.

Impact of Current Policies

The immigrant population has seen an increase of 6.6 million in the 39 months since President Biden assumed office, in January 2021. It’s estimated that almost 58 percent of this increase can be attributed to illegal immigration.

The Road Ahead

If the current trends persist, the immigrant population is projected to reach 62.5 million by 2030 and 82.2 million by 2040. This has the potential to radically reshape our culture and greatly affect our elections.

3 Ways to Pray

• Pray for the border. Pray that our federal government, especially the executive branch, would take the steps necessary to secure our open southern border.
• Pray for our economy. Our government has been paying money to help these immigrants, especially those who do not want to work. This puts a tremendous strain on our resources. Pray that those who come here would arrive legally and seek gainful employment.
• Pray for our elections. As you are reading this, legislators at the state and federal levels are working to protect our elections from those who are not citizens. Pray that the large foreign-born population would not be weaponized to unfairly alter our elections.
