A group of more than 100 Democratic politicians, including a governor and members of Congress, have signed a letter urging the Democratic Party to soften its stance on abortion.
Democrats for Life of America released an open letter on Friday urging the Democratic National Committee to moderate its views on abortion.
The letter, which was emailed to the press earlier this week and embargoed until Friday morning, expressed concerns that the Democratic Party’s position on abortion was “alienating voters.”
“Many Democratic leaders support abortion at any time, for any reason; this position is opposed by 79% of Americans,” read the letter in part. “The 2016 Democratic Platform endorses taxpayer funding of abortion, opposed by a supermajority of the population.” . . .
The letter went on to say that in “389 out of 435 Congressional districts, a majority of voters support a ban on abortion after 20 weeks.”
“When Democratic leaders support late-term abortion, they push many voters into the arms of the Republican Party. Many people holding pro-life views are single-issue voters,” the letter added.
“An extreme position on abortion rights violates our commitment to inclusivity and diversity. Polling consistently shows that one in three Democrats are pro-life. We must respect and include these 21 million Democrats.”
The letter called on the DNC to avoid passing a federal law codifying the United States Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade and to maintain the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits taxpayer dollars from paying for elective abortions. . . .

In a statement sent to supporters on Friday, Democrats for Life of America Executive Director Kristen Day said the letter represented an unprecedented call for change on the DNC’s abortion stance.
“Never before in history have so many Democratic politicians challenged their own party on abortion,” said Day, adding that she believes the party is at a “breaking point.” . . .
Last month, around 100 faith leaders and pro-life activists released an open letter to the DNC, asking them to end their endorsement of “abortion extremism.”
“Some of us are registered Democrats and some of us are not, but we appreciate the Democratic Party’s stated commitment to human rights, equality, and fairness,” read the July letter.
“Accordingly, we urge the Democratic Party to embrace policies that protect both women and children: legal protection for pre-born children, improved prenatal care for women in need, especially women of color, alternatives to abortion, and a comprehensive culture of life free from violence, poverty and racism.”
As part of the effort to reelect Republican President Donald Trump, supporters have highlighted the Biden campaign’s positions on abortion.
When presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden announced that Sen. Kamala Harris was going to be his vice-presidential running mate, Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser described the campaign as the “most pro-abortion presidential ticket in American history.”
“If elected, they will immediately begin rolling back President Trump’s pro-life gains, as well as longstanding policies like the Hyde Amendment,” said Dannenfelser, whose organization endorsed Trump.
“They will stack the Supreme Court with pro-abortion ideologues, setting the pro-life cause back for generations. Together, Biden and Harris constitute the most pro-abortion presidential ticket in American history.”

When I first read this I thought they don’t care about babies, they just care about votes and that is true. However, if they can stand up against abortion even if for the wrong reason, at least it’s the words going out. If they begin to have a voice against abortion even if it is for the wrong reason then perhaps others may be persuaded (we are all like sheep)to have a voice against abortion. When I first became a Christian I had many wrong viewpoints but God began to show me His truth and I changed my opinions about many things. It was a process. So as they speak out against abortion, I pray that those words may take greater hold in our culture, but most of all I pray for a change of heart. As Simeon prophesied over Jesus in the temple (Luke 2:34 & 35) “Behold, this Child is appointed for the fall and rise of many in Israel [and we are the Israel of God], and for a sign to be opposed — and a sword will pierce even your own soul — to the end that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed.” This is what is happening today, Christ is a sign to be opposed to the end that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed. May this happen and may many be given the power to repent and turn to Christ. Praise God and Amen.
As I read this article I thought… The Democrats realize that their platform of Extreme Anti-Life is one huge reason that they can loose the election!!! Pro-Life is gaining strength, as Christians wake up to this evil! It’s only a new strategy that Democrats are using to try to get some Christians support! Democrats have an ungodly platform & we must stand with Our President that has not flip flopped just for votes!
Father, I pray that any person who is pro-life and supports the Democratic Party would seriously consider changing parties. I know there are people who have been Democrats for years who don’t want to change parties and yet they claim to be pro-life. I pray that they will be confronted by the Holy Spirit to see the evil of abortion and no longer be able to support the killing of innocent lives. Nothing is impossible with You, Father. We know You hear our prayers. Your Word says we have not because we have not asked. Father, I am asking and I am sure there are others who agree with this prayer. Thank You, Father. Reveal the TRUTH to every voter. Let them know what they are condoning if the vote for abortion & infanticide. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen

I don’t know how anyone could support the democratic platform knowing what they stand for. How could you vote for a candidate who approves abortion, among other ungodly issues. When you vote for a Democrat you need to find out what the platform stands.I pray for the people who are voting in this election to seek God’s counsel especially Christian’s.

Harris is the person who brought lawsuits against Christians such as David Daleidon. She has also been quoted as saying that one of her first orders of business will be to label all Christians as a hate group. 🤯🤯🤯

It’s a step…….but so little, so late. If they are truly pro life, I don’t know how they can support any candidate, let alone a party that’s platform endorses progressively more and more, the brutal slaughter of the most innocent and helpless of us all? There is no other issue that is on par with this one, by far.

I don’t want to be the spoiler, but abortion isn’t the only issue that the Democrat party is wrong about. I think these Democrats are trying to hold on to their Catholic voters. I still could not support them. Power hungry and too many lies.
The main reason why these Democrats ask to ease off on the abortion issue, doesn’t seem to be because of conviction that it is murder, a horrible butchering of totally helpless, innocent human beings, created in God’s image and likeness, who are not part of the mother’s body, but a separate, individual body! They just fear that the extreme position taken will make them lose voters. This is not about values, but a humanistic, cold-blooded calculation to satisfy their ambition to win at any cost. If they were honest, they would not have approved of Joe Biden as the representative of their party, much less of Kamala Harris for Vice-President. They knew what these two stand for, so why pretend to represent different values now, when all the decisions about the candidates are already taken? They didn’t speak up nor came out to the public before, did they? What credibility do their words have now? Absolutely none! These hypocrites are just trying to fool the American people, as they have done all along! Let us all pray fervently for an overwhelming majority for Donald Trump, voting sincere, honest values proven from the beginning of his presidency up to this day!May the Lord open up the eyes of the understanding of all voters for them to see the truth and not be fooled any more.

I pray for Gods truth to be revealed and that we can vote with the dignity that God has put in us. We as a nation need to stand for Justice and peace in a Godly way and stop all the lying. God is and should always be first in our lives. Down with wrong words and actions from all people.

Thank you for pro-life Democrats. I ask you to encourage them to vote their values and not vote for the Biden/Harris Ticket, or any other pro-abortion Democrat or other pro-abort party. We all see areas in the DNC where there is a violation of Scriptural principles, abortion and ‘homosexual/lesbian rights’ are just two of the more prominent ones. What we often have a harder time seeing is where the RNC has its violations: compromising on balancing the budget, unjust wars overseas, claiming to be for smaller government, then pushing the Patriot Act,(a violation of the Fourth and Fifth) and I could go on. As a former Republican, (who now is a third party member) I pray for the two major parties. Cause members of both parties to see where the party has gone astray from your principles. Restore James Madison’s idea of a variety of parties who all hold to principle, rather than the continual compromise of principle we see.
Unless there is something else in the letter that is not included in this report, I am not impressed. Where is their outrage that abortion is evil, that it is murder of a human being, that it is an abomination before God and humanity? Their only concern seems to be losing voters to the Republican Party. They are still only concerned with being in power and moving forward with the party’s evil agenda.
While I am glad that they are speaking up, I wonder why they are in the Democratic Party if they realize that they are supporting the party that makes it legal to abort a baby at 9 months. VA and NY allow the decision to be made after the baby is born.
Does that mean that they support same sex marriage and the new green deal and that if the Dems will soften the terms of Abortion they will be OK. How do you soften the end result of killing a baby.
When your eyes are opened that Abortion is killing a baby at any stage of development, and that is wrong…..then how can you stay and say I am in the Democrat Camp of Abortion.
If you don’t rob and steal and harm people, you don’t make application to join a gang that robs and steals and harms people….A rational person would separate themselves from such people and not want their name connected to them. EVERY TIME YOU VOTE FOR A DEMOCRAT, YOU SAY IT IS OK TO KILL BABIES. NO GETTING AROUND IT. I left the Democrat Party 40 years ago when they legalized abortion. The Democrat Party now is unrecognizable. How can you pray for God to protect you and your children and vote to kill others? If you will kill a baby, you will do anything unscrupulous. That is what you see in the Democrat leadership. They are willing to harm the Citizens of our Nation to gain power. I also believe that they are willing to write a letter like this to try to get the vote of those who oppose Abortion. Lord, I ask that you soften the hearts of these people, not just soften the way they kill babies. Open their eyes, that they are responsible for the platform of the party they vote for. It is not at an arms length. It is as if they did it themselves. Show these ones that wrote this letter, that they are still accountable if they vote Democrat. Voicing a complaint is not taking a stand and getting out. Just as Pontius Pilate could not wash his hands at the sentencing of Jesus crucifixion.
I don’t think it is necessary for them to switch party. Not all are “Los Angeles Democrats”. Here in Appalachia, there are so many conservative democrats. Don’t forget that Rev. Billy Graham was a democrat. We would be better pray that those God-loving democrats can crush the liberal or leftist democrat and thus retake the control of that party.
Jimmy Carter and others were too. But that was before the party went so far left. There comes a time to leave Babylon, especially since the DNC doesn’t seem to even care about their voice, and is actively excluding them by the platform. This is the most pro-abortion platform ever, and the DNC couldn’t care less that they are alienating more than half the population in this country.
One could pray they repent, and it is possible. I pray for the individuals in the party, but the party itself needs to repent, from Biden/Harris on down, and change the platform, for the party to be redeemed.
Lord, turn the Democratic party, and it shall be turned!
When you have joined an organization, spiritually you are aligned with their bi laws or platform.
No getting around it, if you are a member of the Democrat party, you give them power and say that you agree with their beliefs.
If you vote for a Democrat, that means that you are held accountable for their actions. That means that you vote for 9 month abortion.
That means that you vote for giving no aid to an aborted baby that is still alive, you agree to let it lay their to die outside of the mother.
That means that you may give the democrats the majority in the house of senate to make decisions.
That means that you support AOC and the squad as they attack Israel and are once again trying force Catholics to pay for contraceptives.
If you do not understand the spiritual implications of being aligned with or yoking up with everything that is against scripture. You do not understand how authority in the spiritual relm works.
Lord God, open the spiritual eyes of the anti-abortionists who label themselves as Democrats that they would see abortion for what it truly is, a sacrifice made to Baal, Satan’s strongman. Reveal to them that their leadership is demonically controlled and that they are willingly in agreement with Satanic plans for America’s destruction. Shine Your light into that evil agenda so that they may repent and be saved, them and their families. In Jesus Christ of Nazareth’s name, I pray.
Before I commit to any person in any race, I check his/her stands on abortion. To me, it is more than a political stand. We as a Nation have to justify this to the God of Glory creator of Life in the womb. To stand with a party with Pro-choice agenda & call yourself Pro-life is an oxymoron if I have ever heard one. I can’t even justify the means.
If they are serious, they would leave the Dem party. I question their motives.
I applaud these Democrats for standing up for Life, and I hope it is not just politically motivated. But the leadership of the Democrat Party is hard-over on Abortion. Last year the Senate Democrats refused to pass a bill that would provide care for abortion survivors — that amounts to infanticide.
I pray that every Christian will vote for the GOP and stand for Life for the Unborn, because the Democrat Party stands for Death.
GOD’S Word says “to call things that are not as though they were,” Also “life and death are in the power of the tongue.” So I invite all intercessors to decree God’s Word over the United States of America.
The Word also gives us this assurance:
Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee; and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
So we declare: We as one voice United for the lives of unborn babies decree a nationwide reawakening of the sanctity of life and the value of every human life. The moment is here and now that we with one voice proclaim that America is a culture of life, and we declare abundant life over all of God’s precious children from conception to birth! So be it. Yes! We have been praying that pro-life Democrats and believers in the party would stand up and speak up. Thank You Lord.
For our prayers and supplications (specific petitions) for the 100, is there an organization that IFA could tap to verify the voting records of each of the 100 on legislation pertaining to abortion and life issues? If those positions confirm pro life votes we could offer specific praise and even pray their group would grow. If the voting records do not confirm voting life is a real position for the 100, this could suggest a possible Ross Perot effort to draw votes away from our present Commander in Chief who has real and consistent advocacy and speaking out for the preborn who cannot speak for themselves. Either way prayer and fasting seems well justified for this issue and we don’t want to be boxing in the air while being innocent as doves but not wise as serpents.

. I prayed for truth in the hearts of the Democrats on the issue. This would seem like a political ploy to get the Democratic ticket more votes. Abortion needs to be banned. Respect for life needs to be in our hearts and a minor change on this subject for their platform is not enough. Please pray for the hearts of America to be softened and willingly subjected to our God for repentance, feeling the guilt of this horrendous sin and receiving forgiveness. Keep praying for truth to be revealed — not just for the good of the Republican ticket, but for the health of our nation.
And we thank You Lord for this administration to end federal aborted tissue research, to end tax dollars supporting abortion globally while trying foreign aid money to the LGBTQ agenda. In every state may title IX monies no longer support industry which profits from the blood of Your creation. Amen
Hallelujah. When I read this I knew our prayers are being heard and answered. Until we get this one thing right we can not expect God to continue to bless this land.
