I Prayed have prayed
Lord, give this nation Your justice so that we may learn the fear of the Lord. We know You know each one of our hearts and we that You reveal our pride, wickedness, evil, and sin to us so that You can transform us into Your likeness.
Reading Time: 3 minutes

For the past few years, believers have consistently quoted 2 Chronicles 7:14 as the benchmark for national repentance. But, there is a backdrop and context to this verse that should challenge us in how we judge the present crises we face as a nation.

In the preceding chapter, Solomon leads the people in dedicating the Temple after years of preparation. They had done everything required and were determined to walk in the ways of the Lord. In his prayer, Solomon makes a deal with God. He wanted to make sure the people stuck to their promises and asked the Lord to hold them accountable…

Then hear from heaven where you live, and forgive. Give your people what their actions deserve, for you alone know each human heart. Then they will fear you and walk in your ways as long as they live in the land you gave to our ancestors. (2 Chronicles 6:30 NLT).

Solomon told the Lord to give His people what their choices and actions “deserve” – good or bad. He does not ask God to bless the people without merit or to overlook any future bad choices out of mercy. Instead, he asks God to follow through with any negative consequences of sin committed by His people – SO THAT they will learn the fear of the Lord.

It’s in THIS context that the Lord responds in the next chapter with our oft-quoted verse:

At times I might shut up the heavens so that no rain falls, or command grasshoppers to devour your crops, or send plagues among you. Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. (2 Chronicles 7:13-14 ESV)

This famous promise was not in response to an enemy attack or some random declaration from heaven. It was God answering Solomon’s petition for accountability – “OK, you want accountability? Here’s what I’ll do… “ The only way the people would walk in the fear of the Lord would be for them to taste the results of their rebellion and learn the dire consequences of disobedience. Confronted with disasters and crises, they would be faced with their own limitations and hopefully turn back to God. Though this deal with heaven may seem drastic, it was necessary in order for the nation to maintain their covenant with the Lord.

Today, our nation is truly getting what we have deserved because of some bad choices we’ve made. Because of the Church’s lack of engagement in the public square and our apathy in voting, we are now reaping the results of our inaction. Though many are waking up to this dilemma and wanting to turn things around, there are yet sleepers and those who walk in unbelief. But, I believe God is at work, bringing them to the place of seeing the consequences of their choices so that they, too, can yield fully to the Lord. We must pray this happens so that our collective unity will be strong, steadfast, and secure.

Though it means that even the righteous must bear the consequences of these wrong choices for a time, I believe we will triumph if we understand the Lord’s greater purposes. He doesn’t want some glib acquiescence or forced submission. He is going after the doubters and those who have yet to wake up. He wants our full surrender and wholehearted devotion and He’s willing to take the time needed if it means He has us – completely.

As much as we want the swamp to be drained, we might all have to take a dip before the plug is pulled. But, take heart. I hear mud baths are really good for you.

Your blessings of riches be depleted. We pray that the MSM will report what is truthfully we are facing as a country. We in America have replaced Jesus with these idols: Man, mammon and pride. We have forgotten how we got to be what was the greatest nation. We give thanks and bow down to MAN; we believe that our RICHES (MAMMON) save us; we walk around with our heads held so high (PRIDE) that even Jesus cannot touch us. Oh, America, if you only knew. PRAISE GOD FROM WHOM ALL BLESSINGS FLOW; PRAISE HIM ALL CREATURES HERE BELOW. PRAISE HIM ABOVE YE HEAVENLY HOSTS. PRAISE FATHER, SON, AND HOLY GHOST!!! AMEN!!!

Amen, Amen, Wanda
What an important response to the misinformed!
What you have written needs to be said! God with His merciful judgment is offering a means to correct the error of our ways & unless we listen & become obedient He will apply His righteous punishment.
God spoke to Jerimiah (Chapter 18) & paraphrasing, stated “does not a potter have the right to destroy what he is making & start over..” Also, when speaking to Jerimiah God makes a point to say “if – A – nation” & not a reference to Israel (the Jews) as He does in 2 Chronicles.

Wanda stay strong & continue to speak the truth, for “The truth will set you free.”

Dear Lord please help us to be humble, to pray, turn from our wicked ways and seek You. We as a nation can often be arrogant, not prayerful, wicked and too proud to seek You. We need You to turn us us around. Call us to You Father. I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Such a true article. I trust that God is doing exactly what is spoken. We must endure, take a standance and draw close to our Father. We are in his Army. Keeping each other held up in prayer for those attacks will come and we must have trust and Faith in the Word of God.

Pastor Jentezen Franklin of Free Chapel Calls For Nationwide 21-Day Fast and Prayer Until Aug 21st…
.
“In moments like these the church prays, and the church acts,” Pastor Franklin said. “We pray for a vaccine, we pray for those facing economic challenges, we pray for our children whose education and lives have been disrupted. We pray for those who are lonely and who feel lost in anxiety. We also act: giving to those who need help, protecting our vulnerable loved ones, tutoring children who are behind in their studies, and helping people register to vote.”
.
“I’m asking every Christian in every city in America to pray and to fast,” Pastor Franklin explained. “In Jesus’ name, we will find the strength to persevere through challenges and to ensure a bright future for our families and our communities. “Now is the time. This is the hour to fast and to pray for our nation and for its future.”

I’ve been praying for the Body of Christ to fast and pray. Thank you for your call. Pray it will be shouted from the house tops and Christians all over America will hear the call and fast and pray, confess our corporate and individual sins before God, and seek His forgiveness and cleansing.

Yes, the condition of healing is the result of God’s people turning from their wicked ways. I have received a scourging and purging from the Lord that has opened me up to receive also His healing and grace. Mainly, to put away the pointing finger and pray for our enemies and God’s redemptive plan, as He opens our eyes and hearts to be One in Him.

In Jesus’ Name, Heavenly Father, thank you for the privilege of prayer. Thank you for allowing Your people in Jesus’ Name to enter the Holy of Holies and pour out our prayers in Your presence. Thank You for well researched knowledge given on this website. Thank You for the Revival You have sent to America. Thank You for Your Word revealing the need for ongoing examination and repentance on the part of followers of Jesus and His Church in our day just as the need existed in Solomon’s day. Thank You for hearing our prayers. Bless those You have placed on the frontlines to “drain the Swamp”. Strengthen, renew, guide them according to Your will.
Lord have mercy on America, Christ have mercy on America. We don’t deserve Your mercy, Lord. So thankful that Your love and mercy “endures forever”. Amen
