From The Washington Times. New York City Mayor Eric Adams landed in critics’ crosshairs Tuesday after an emphatic address to an interfaith prayer breakfast Tuesday in which he said that he walks and talks with God.

Mr. Adams, 62, said church and state are not, in fact, separate and claimed the end of school prayer led to a rise in gun incidents at schools.
Earlier, mayoral advisor Ingrid Lewis-Martin told event attendees, “In government, many times, it is said that one has to separate church from state. … We have an administration that doesn’t believe in that.”
Both comments drew immediate fire from the New York Civil Liberties Union and other advocacy groups, one of which claimed the Black chief executive was “promoting right-wing, Christian Nationalist talking points.”
The first-term mayor addressed about 300 guests at the event and said, “Don’t tell me about no separation of church and state. State is the body. Church is the heart. You take the heart out of the body, the body dies.”
He said, “When we took prayers out of schools, guns came into schools.”
Perhaps the mayor’s most controversial comment came when Mr. Adams said, “I can’t separate my belief because I’m an elected official. When I walk, I walk with God. When I talk, I talk with God. When I put policies in place, I put them in with a God-like approach to them. That’s who I am.” …

Mayor Kevin Adams has a good heart. No doubt he walks and talks with God every day as we all should. Let’s pray that when God speaks to him and tells him that his children are being slaughtered daily by the horror of abortion, that he will listen.
Praise the Lord for moving in the heart of Mayor Adams of NYC for he sees God and working for God’s righteousness for serving his people to see and God was honored spiritually not on worldly view a part o f his service for this nation with integrity as chosen to this position as the NYC Mayor. May 14, 2022 live footage of Mayor Adams’ was posted on Fox News where his comments include: he supports abortion at any stage. It is the woman’s right, no man has a right concerning this. What happened to the right of the unborn, innocent child? Jesus said “choose life”. He defeated death on the cross. God forms us in our mother’s womb. Politicians change their message depending on who they speak with, in order to garner/get votes and stay elected. Only truly sons and daughters of God, rely on the word of truth in order to take their position and esteem God’s word. We are to be in one accord with our Father who is in heaven. Please take a look at past positions to give an idea of current positions. He also states all children should visit all types of denominations. Where is that found in the Bible? Love people, but defend the Gospel. James 3:11 Does a spring pour fourth from the same opening both fresh and salt water? Seems he is trying to please men rather than God.
This man has stood for CRT, covid mandates and lockdowns, LGBTQ issues, and a host of other ungodly agendas. He gives lip service to God once and we are supposed to stop looking for his fruit and just take him at his word? Disappointed in the lack of discernment with those who wrote this glowing article about a man who is clearly not walking with Jesus.

It would appear people are not aware of this man’s actions – support of abortion – lack of support for police, law and order, easy on criminals, – he says what is expedient in the moment – but like you said – “where is the fruit?” – show us the fruit – Jesus said we will know a tree by its fruit. Your word is written, Righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a disgrace to any people.. Ignite a hedge of boldness to stand to govern and walk from biblical principles. Concerning Life and Marriage these are settled. The purity and teachings of all children in every place must be protected.. Wonderful words. I wonder if they will translate into actions of supporting life – all life – preborn life included. I wonder if they will translate into supporting law enforcement, enforcing laws, promoting public safety, and realizing the “victims” who need their rights protected are NOT the ones committing the crimes but the ones who are the actual victims of soft on crime policies, that do not punish the perpetrators of criminal acts but protect them instead. The mayor is absolutely right, you cannot separate your public or private life from your beliefs. Every government official is a representative of the government. As such, they must embrace the role of government (that’s why the role of government should be specifically defined.) However, they are also individuals, and as individuals they have to do their jobs in a way that reflects who they are.
The government as a body should not dictate any particular religion or belief as the religion or belief of our nation. But it also should not hinder or interfere with anyone’s right to worship as they choose. The government’s role is to protect the rights of it’s people and that includes the right for each of us to worship and believe as we choose and the right to carry on our lives in a way that reflects who we are.

When prayer was taken out of schools God’s hand of protection was removed from our schools as well. Lord as Mayor Adams seeks after You daily give him the wisdom, knowledge, and discernment he needs in carrying out his responsibilities as mayor of NYC.

I just looked at the Wikipedia article on the mayor, and saw that his approval rating fell from 63% to 29% recently, possibly due to increased crime. So I really agree with the prayer for wisdom and strength for him. Also humility, which we all need to be effective Christians. I have been praying for revival in New York City, where I lived 1971-74, before moving to New Jersey and becoming a Christian.
Very thankful he is bold in his witness and sadly ACLU will come after him. I pray for his protection from the enemy.
Not sure what to think of his remarks when he has a city overrun with crime and does not support law enforcement. The Bible speaks of obeying our laws

We can complain or we can help him more by praying. Mayor Adams’ comments indicated he has a relationship with God. Those comments sent up fireworks to NYC liberals. He probably knows his step of faith and courage may lead to his party not endorsing him for re-election.

It is good to read this info about Eric Adam’s words. However, I wish abiding by common sense laws of prosecuting criminals at all levels walk would go along with his talk.
