Newsom Order Cities to Clean up Homeless Encampments
California Governor Gavin Newsom is taking steps to fix his state’s homelessness crisis, ordering cities to clean up homeless encampments.
Get prayer updates from IFA.
From Just the News:
Newsom laid out a plan to eliminate the homeless population from his state in a news release, instructing cities to adopt policies that help end the encampments and pointed to a Supreme Court ruling last year that allowed the state to resume its efforts.
…
The order encourages cities to ban persistent camping in one location, placing encampments on sidewalks that would block people from walking, and instructs local officials to “provide notice and make every reasonable effort to identify and offer shelter prior to clearing an encampment.”
But why is Gov. Newsom doing this? Many blame his policies for the initial rise in homelessness. Perhaps he is doing this to make himself more likable and electable, considering that many anticipate a presidential run from him in 2028. Whatever the Governor’s reasons are, this is an answer to our prayers.
We’ve watched for years as California cities have become less and less livable due to drug usage and homeless encampments. Let’s pray these cities would be successful in clearing our homeless encampments, and that their effort would make the state of California safer!
