As the shutdown continues, many are worried about our service men and women in the military working without pay. According to Congressional aides, lawmakers would have to pass a bill by Monday, October 13, to ensure that our troops are paid promptly on October 15.

As in past shutdowns, troops continue reporting to work as their roles are considered essential for national security.

President Trump has said he would support a separate bill to get the troops paid until the Senate dispute is resolved with a continuing resolution.
“We’ll take care of it,” Trump said Wednesday. “Our military is always going to be taken care of.”
President Trump previously promised members of the military that they would be paid despite the shutdown. Speaking last weekend at an event celebrating the Navy’s 250th anniversary, he said, “I want you to know that, despite the current Democrat-induced shutdown, we will get our service members every last penny.”
The President is not the only work working to get our troops paid. Representative Jennifer Kiggans introduced the Pay Our Troops Act last month, but it didn’t pass before the shutdown. The legislation would have authorized “continuing appropriations for military pay during a government shutdown,” according to Breitbart. As it stands, soldiers will receive back pay once the government reopens, but they will serve without pay until then.
Breitbart notes that military members are already taking out loans to make it through expected pay delays. As our service members struggle, let’s pray for a swift end to this shutdown, as well as for God to provide for them!

Heavenly Father, thank You for our service members whom have answered the call to serve and protect. Keep them near to You at this time. Let the assurance of Your precious word be their place of refuge, strength and peace. Romans 13:5-7 reminds each of us of the responsibility for the positions we have been given. 5 Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God’s wrath but also for the sake of conscience. 6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing. 7 Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed.
Please remind our elected officials that they are held to a higher accountability for the roles they have been granted and thank You for those representatives whom do. Remove false rhetoric, dismantle tactics of deception, override plans of destruction for dividing this nation. Loosed words of truth, conviction, restraint, honor and service to others as this shutdown comes to an end. We are one nation under God and Your word stands ‘supreme’. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.

I will also continue to pray for everyone in office to be convicted-first spiritually, if that does not work, try morally, then criminally! I’m afraid the 3rd option will be the only deterrent.
Lord may they be reminded of the Continental Army who froze, starved, fought, walked for seven years and often went without pay or were paid with worthless Continental paper. At Valley Forge, one fourth of the Army died of starvation, disease, or frostbite. Above all men, soldiers must understand and embrace sacrifice. God bless our Beloved troops.🇺🇸❤️
I don’t know why those who continue to work don’t get paid…..it’s the politicians who made the decision to shut down that made it. They should be the ones not getting ANY MONEY during this event PLUS get dinged for not showing up. A normal worker would have that done to them. I think they oughta be responsible for the other’s pay also. Of course ALL politicians are corruptly making extra.
Lord, we pray for leaders who have our best interests at heart, not the big corporations, conglomerates, lobbyists, globalists or foreign nationals. We pray that you would raise up men and women to represent us with books tenacity and have the bsckbone to say no to bribes, threats and smears. Post your angels around those who are standing firm and protect them of every ploy of the enemy.
