Senator Dave McCormick (R-Pa.) has raised a sobering warning: America is in a race with China over who will dominate the future of artificial intelligence. At the POLITICO AI & Tech Summit, McCormick emphasized that China is closing the gap in key areas of technology, and unless the United States takes bold action, it risks losing its leadership role.

He described China as an adversary unlike any America has faced in modern times—an opponent not only in military and economic strength, but also in the realm of technological supremacy. McCormick believes the U.S. is still ahead, but only if the nation continues to attract the brightest talent, invest in innovation, and prioritize the responsible use of artificial intelligence.

McCormick also acknowledged that the coming AI boom will bring massive disruption, calling it “the industrial revolution on steroids.” Like past technological revolutions, this one will reshape economies, industries, and even daily life. The challenge for America is not only to lead in developing AI but to lead with wisdom and integrity.

For Christians, this is a moment to pray earnestly. Technology itself is not evil; it is a tool. But tools can be used for good or for harm. If AI falls under the influence of regimes that reject God and liberty, it could become a force for oppression. On the other hand, if America stewards this gift with faith, responsibility, and moral clarity, it could be harnessed to bless humanity, preserve freedom, and even bring justice.

As McCormick noted, the Trump administration’s emphasis on energy independence and AI advancement is a critical step in ensuring America’s strength. Yet ultimately, no strategy will succeed without God’s blessing. The Church must intercede now, asking the Lord to raise up leaders who will pursue truth, protect liberty, and honor Him even in the age of machines.
