I Prayed have prayed
Reading Time: 4 minutes

Pray for truth in our nation about sexual sin! For years television and movies have normalized extra-biblical sex of all kinds. This movie goes further, attacking Christians who want to help their children/other Christians live holy lives.

For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. (Titus 2:11-14)

Living in the Nashville area, I’ve had three divine appointments with Nicole Kidman who is an Academy Award winning actress, married to music superstar Keith Urban. I’ve given her one of my books and my personal testimony tract. Although she was once wed to Scientologist Tom Cruise, she’s now Catholic so I hope she relates to my similar upbringing.

When she lends her star power to a film you can be sure it’ll draw lots of attention as well as big audiences. Her current movie is one where the “buzz” is already out for an Academy Award nomination. Her co-star is another Academy Award winner Russell Crowe.

Giant posters declare of the just released, first run film, “Stunning achievement… One of the year’s best pictures… Magnificent… Story demands to be told… Breathtaking… Four stars!”

Boy Erased is a heartbreaking story based on a teenager’s supposedly real experience with same sex attraction; his rape by a gay college freshman; the traumatic interaction with his supportive mom and dad who is a Baptist pastor; his experience in a “Christian” rehab center; and, his eventual realization that “I’m gay… I’m not changing… You’re going to have to be the one to change!” Hence the byline on the movie’s poster, “The Truth Cannot be Converted.”

Similar to the biopic Bohemian Rhapsody ending on a Hollywood inspirational moment minimizing the horrific AIDS-related death at 45 of Freddie Mercury, Boy Erased concludes with young Jared, successful and glowing alongside his gay partner in “marriage” while the minister who directed his “conversion therapy” team of robotic, mean-spirited and legalistic individuals is exposed as a hypocrite who happily returned to his former homosexual lifestyle and now is with his gay partner too.

One unfortunate, hulking teenager who told our central character that, “God will not love you the way you are” ends up killing himself. Moviegoers cannot help but cringe that this is what happens when we don’t celebrate and encourage people to “come out” and be who they were “really meant to be.”

The movie is convincing and communicates a compelling story. It will influence millions to accept homosexuality as normal while Christian attempts to encourage people (as Alcoholics Anonymous does) to yield totally to God and admit their inability to overcome their struggles in their own strength is obviously evil, manipulative and totally ineffective. The credits roll reminding us that there are still over 30 states that still allow this type of degrading conversion therapy.

What is the Truth?

Throughout America there are compassionate and skilled counselors who are committed to helping those struggling with same-sex attraction. They convey God’s unconditional love and His design for men and women so they can live in freedom and enjoy the “abundant life” (Jn.10:10) that Jesus promised all who follow His way.

They work tirelessly assisting people identify root causes; how to deal with ongoing temptation; plus, guide them graciously to walk victoriously in the power of God’s grace amidst supportive, authentic Christian community.

When a person genuinely repents and perseveres in the process, he or she experiences the incontrovertible truth of the glorious freedom and a new life in union with Christ. “Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature.  Old things have passed away. Look, all things have become new” (2 Cor. 5:17).

Recently dozens of former gays and lesbians held uplifting rallies in California honoring God for their deliverance and longstanding lifestyles of freedom from homosexuality. I personally know a woman who left the lesbian lifestyle after 42 years and several male former homosexuals who today are happily married with numerous children. Organizations and churches helping gays find freedom through compassionate counseling are filled with the testimonies of thousands of real people who really have changed.

This movie unfairly and blatantly portrays a treatment center as a sterile boot camp with a cult-like leader and heartless, abusive figures engaged in behavior modification and manipulative techniques. Forcing young people to publicly confess intimate sexual sins in a mixed setting of guys and girls will repel average moviegoers who lack discernment. The shameful bullying and beating of unrepentant teens by bashing them with Bibles in exorcisms not only strains credulity but makes one wonder how much of this young person’s journey was embellished to disgust impressionable and uninformed people.

Here’s the deal: Boy Erased is a superbly produced and acted presentation of propaganda.  It will unfortunately mislead multitudes to reject attempts at helping those struggling with same-sex attraction plus reinforce the notion that change isn’t really possible.

The real “truth that cannot be converted” comes not from Hollywood but from the Holy Bible when it  conveys hope and freedom. “No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, and He will not permit you to be tempted above what you can endure, but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it” (1 Cor.10:13).

May this commentary awaken pastors who still remain silent rather than speaking on the moral issues of today! Do you know that Scotland just became the first country in the world to mandate full LGBTQ curriculum be taught all children in all public schools?  As salt we must counter the deception with truth!

Thanks be to God for freedom found in Jesus who promised, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free… Therefore, if the Son sets you free, you shall be free indeed!” (Jn. 8:32,36).

I want to thank you, Lord, for my brothers and sisters who work tirelessly helping homosexuals find there true selves in Christ. We are not our sex, and yet that is what there focus has been made to be. Lord God, i thank you for this article, so very well done. I ask that the great deceiver would not be able to lure anymore children away from freedom in Christ. I pray that the healed gays and lesbians would be given a voice to help their fellow sufferers. I pray that homosexuals would be welcomed into any fellowship of believers. I pray that any homophobic response to homosexuals by believers would lead the believer to check with God as to why they are threatened. May you be successful in breaking all our bondages, Lord. In Jesus name, Amen

I believe this article shows what is wrong with our nation in that we except Nicole Kidman and her husband Keith Urban as Christian Catholics! Except that this film Kidman is in is one of the most ungodly unchristian Wicked nasty Etc kind of movie that no actual Christian would have any reason to take part in! So we must sacrifice the good Kidman gives in other films so to show how wrong it is for her to be in this movie! And not only her but anyone else who is part of such ungodly things as this movie is must be rejected totally! No matter how good they otherwise show themselves in church or other good works! Which can be a lot to sacrifice made easier by knowing the good we are doing in such a protest will be worth the cost when we become more like Jesus and see the other results of our work! Which we can only do by Assurance it is God’s will by and in the blood and name of Jesus

— The Righteous Shall Stir-Up This Nation

Father, I pray that the righteous shall rule. The word of God is the will of God. The Lord changes not. We have the mind of Christ (the Messiah) and we do hold the thoughts of His heart. 1 Corinthians 2:16. We are made righteous through faith. We are the righteousness of God in Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:21

I pray that the Holy Spirit intercedes for our Nation that man would speak and do every deed wholeheartedly operating in righteousness. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). His blood cleanses us from all sin. Righteousness gives us confidence. Righteousness gives us boldness. Righteousness is the scepter of the Kingdom(Heb. 1:8). The righteous are as bold as a lion (Prov. 28:1).

God uses ordinary people to accomplish His purposes. Our ability comes through grace. Two important revelations every believer needs are an understanding of power and authority. This is not based on feeling but on faith. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. We must combine the power of the Holy Spirit with the authority of the name of Jesus to move our enemies.

Father, I pray that your word will draw those in need of salvation to Christ shall receive salvation when they confess the word of God: “Belief in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved” (Acts 16:31). “If you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9). “By grace are you saved through faith, and this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God—not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8). “I have been crucified with Christ; We receive the power through the Holy Spirit Acts 1: 8.

The Lord will teach the righteous to war using His Word (Ps. 144:1). The Word of God is the sword of the Spirit and our source of wisdom. Speaking the Word of God becomes like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces (Jer. 23:29).

May the Word of God bestow fire and divine grace upon the righteous and the Holy Spirit interceding for us in the name of Yeshua HaMashiach. Amen.
