Louisiana Gubernatorial Veto OVERRIDDEN!
Louisiana Gubernatorial Veto OVERRIDDEN!
This week, the Louisiana Legislature corrected the unforced error of Governor John Bel Edwards by overriding his veto of HB648. This measure protects children from harmful medical procedures and unscrupulous profiteers who seek to manipulate children suffering from anxiety. The Legislature sent a very clear message by a vote of 75-23 in the House and 28-11 in the Senate – Governor John Bel Edwards does not have the authority to allow harm to come to a child!
Louisiana Intercessors for America joined forces with Louisiana Family Forum and churches in collaborating, praying, and communicating with Louisiana representatives and senators to promote the override. There was prayer and worship on the grounds and within the Louisiana Capitol in Baton Rouge throughout the day as prayer groups petitioned heaven for this historic synergy of believers as we stood arm in arm for the children of our great state.
The STOP HARMING KIDS ACT protects kids from sexual politics and unscrupulous profiteers.
HB648 enjoyed overwhelming support in both houses of the
2023 Legislature. But Governor Edwards ignored Louisiana values and the will of the people as expressed by elected representatives.
HB648 by Rep. Gabe Firment protects minors from medical experimentation in the form of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and irreversible surgeries. By enacting this policy, Louisiana joins 20 other states which have approved similar legislation. State lawmakers recognized their duty to protect the health and safety of children. Minors who experience discomfort with their biological sex deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. This was a great victory for our state and its most impressionable citizens, our children. Thanks be to God who gives us the victory through Christ Jesus our Lord!
Does this encourage you to keep fighting for what’s right even if it seems the battle is over?

Father, righteous men and women are rising for the children! We thank you for Holy Spirit conviction in them to cast a life vote and overrule the wrong of the governor . We pray for his salvation, in Jesus name. Amen!
Thank You Father for the victory for the children!!!
Praises and deep thanks go out to you, Lord God. You heard the fervent prayers of Your people and brought justice for impressionable children. (Acknowledgement and thanks also go out to the representatives who overwhelmingly voted in favor of Family Values to include protection for our little ones.) Let the governor see his defeat here with a loud thud, and may it happen thoroughly at the polls next time for him, should he run.
20 other states? Father, please move like-minded people to join together in the other states to pray in unison and act, that their children would also be protected from these harmful intentions.
Thank you for each and every victory in the battle against evil. May this example inspire more states to pass like legislation to protect our children. Raise up Your warriors, LORD, in prayer and action to accomplish Your purposes.
Thank you, thank you Lord for the Louisiana legislature and the people of God, churches and Intercessors and all who gathered together and prayed and talked and the good result it brought. Dear Lord we need much more of this type of fighting the evil one. Thank you Lord for this encouragement. Let us all stand up and do much more in defense of your values. ❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹
Have you heard anything about how this impacts education? I’m an educator and saw another bill in which teachers would have to tell kids about gender identity and sexual practices- please tell me that this is not true- wasn’t this one defeated too?
