Liberty University’s Executive Committee, acting on behalf of its Board of Trustees, issued the following statement today:
This past week challenged all of us to the core. While we had been willing to extend grace and understanding to Jerry Falwell, Jr. before, once the revelations about his past personal life came more fully to light, we acted swiftly and decisively to ask for his immediate resignation, which we received.
Some may say that all the signs were there for a long time before last week. It’s certainly fair to say that there were questionable comments made, worrying behavior, and inappropriate social media posts, but all the signs were not there until the start of last week. While we still didn’t know the full scope of the matter, we have learned enough about the past to know that we had no choice but to take the leadership of Liberty University in a new direction.
We are also committed to learning the consequences that have flowed from a lack of spiritual stewardship by our former president. One of the leading forensic firms in the world has been retained by Liberty University’s Board of Trustees to conduct a thorough investigation into all facets of Liberty University operations during Jerry Falwell, Jr.’s tenure as President, including but not limited to financial, real estate, and legal matters. . . .

Of course, moving forward, we are very mindful that we must seek leaders who demonstrate a full commitment to the spiritual mission of Liberty University by words, actions, and example. That is why, in addition to starting a search for a new president, we are also reviewing options to establish a new role in the top leadership of the University for someone who will serve as a spiritual coach, mentor, and guide to help ensure that every member of the University leadership fulfills his or her spiritual responsibility to live out the Christian walk expected of each and every one of us at Liberty.
Lastly, we are charging Jerry Prevo to use the full range of his presidential authority to implement any changes necessary to improve the ongoing operations of the University, and to enrich the spiritual mission of Liberty University, not only for its students but also for every executive, administrator, faculty member, and the entire staff, and for a prospective new president, as well.
We ask for continued prayers as we all manage this transition and for a continued commitment by us all to fulfill our spiritual mission here at Liberty University today and always.

Father, you have promised that your love will be a shield around your people. We pray that your Mercy and Love surround all students, staff, professor and leaders at LU. In the mist what it seems like a dark cloud over their heads. Remind them that they are resting under the shadow of your wings. In the Precious Name of Jesus. Amen 🙏🏽
Father God thank you for the cleansing of Your church. We know that a great shaking is coming to Your church because YOU LOVE us more than we can understand. Judgement starts in the House of God. You are the Righteous

You cannot believe anything the mainline media puts out there – Can someone inform me? What did Mr. and Mrs. Falwell do that caused this immediate release from Liberty U.?
My prayers are for healing for students, faculty and all in current and future leadership roles. May the Lord continue to bless you and keep you and let his face shine upon you.
Father God, I pray for Liberty U, it’s administrators, faculty, staff, students and alumni. Heal their wounded hearts at this terrible time. Father, keep this miracle University in the palm of your hands. Keep it true to Jerry Senior’s vision, that it never departs from its spiritual roots as so many colleges have.
Father, I pray for Jerry Jr’s family. Only You know exactly what each one needs. Thank you for revealing what is wrong so the appropriate measures can be taken.
Help us all.

Lord we pray for continued guidance for Liberty. We pray for healing for the university and it’s entire body of students and teachers.
For Mr. Falwell and his wife, we pray that you would heal their marriage and prepare them for the peaks and valleys that lie ahead of them. We pray for their eventual restoration as they learn to rely on your forgiveness and grace. In Jesus name… amen.
Praying for this school’s purpose and those who attend and teach in the fear of the Lord, to have discernment and understanding.
Father we thank you for exposure and swift action resulting in removing unrighteous leadership at Liberty University. We do not condone Jerry Falwell Jr.’s and his wife’s behavior and pray that the matter will be dealt with with truth (sin is sin) and grace (save but the grace of God so go I).
We lift up the alumni and students who were under Falwell Jr’s reign as President and ask you to cleanse them with the water of your Word and the blood of the Lamb, Jesus Christ. We repent of iniquity that permeated Liberty University through the acts of the former Presidential family and ask for you to forgive and heal the souls and spirits of those affected.
Pour out upon this campus and people a pure spirit and use what the enemy meant for evil for good. Fan into flames the LIBERTY FLAMES and let revival flow from this campus to the world.
