I Prayed have prayed
God, we lift each and every lawmaker in Washington before You. We pray every man and woman in Congress would know and honor You, and we pray for Your will to be done in every election.

Kat Abughazaleh, a foul-mouthed, Gen Z, liberal influencer, announced a run for Congress last month, aiming to unseat one of Illinois’ older Democrat representatives. What do you think of this?

From The Hill. Progressive influencer Kat Abughazaleh announced Monday she’s launching a bid to unseat Rep.Ā Jan SchakowskyĀ (D-Ill.) in the northern Chicago suburbs.

ā€œDonald TrumpĀ andĀ Elon MuskĀ are dismantling our country piece by piece, and so many Democrats seem content to just sit back and let ā€˜em,ā€ AbughazalehĀ said in a video announcing her candidacyĀ on the social platform X.

ā€œSo I say it’s time to drop the excuses and grow a f‑‑‑ing spine. I’m Kat Abughazaleh, and I’m running for Congress in Illinois’s 9th District.ā€

Abughazaleh is a former video producer at the liberal watchdog Media Matters for America who has also garnered a TikTok following of more than 217,000 people. Though the 26-year-old declines to explicitly name Schakowsky, 80, in her video or on her website, the progressive influencer makes clear that the district needs a generational change. …

The district is reliably Democratic, meaning whoever wins the primary is the heavy favorite to take the seat in the general election.

Abughazaleh would be the first Gen Z woman elected to Congress if she prevailed in the district; Rep.Ā Maxwell FrostĀ (D-Fla.) was the first Gen Z lawmaker to be elected to Congress in 2022.

Those who make (idols) become like them…
they have mouths, but they can’t speak;

they have eyes, but they can’t see;
they have ears, but they can’t hear;

they have noses, but they can’t smell;
they have hands, but they can’t feel;

they have feet, but they can’t walk;
Those who make them will become like them, so do all who trust in them.
from Psalm 135

Idolatry extends beyond the worship of idols and images and false gods…included are pride, self-centeredness, greed, gluttony, a love for possessions and ultimately rebellion against God. GotQuestions.org

Katherine Abughazaleh has an interesting background. Her paternal grandfather came from Jerusalem to study in the US and eventually settled and raised his family in Dallas. It was there her dad met her mom, who is a 7th generation Texan. She was born into an affluent, conservative and Republican family and credits her ā€œchangeā€ to a move from a private school to one where many of the students enrolled were undocumented and low income. She turned 26 last month.

Dear Heavenly Father, You know everything about this young woman. You watched as she was being knitted together in her mother’s womb. You ordained each of Katherine’s days before she lived her first. I believe You can uproot whatever created the change in her life. Will You? I believe You can direct her to speak, see, hear, smell, feel, walk and live the days You planned all those years ago. I believe You can, will You? I pray in the Name of Jesus Christ, who is the Way, the Truth and the Life needed to make the change we all so desperately need. Amen
