Lord God, there is none like You. We praise You and thank You for showing us how to pray in accordance with Your will, hearing us, and answering our prayers.

On the evening of Monday, August 12, 2024, which was also Tisha B’Av or the ninth of Av, intercessors joined Liberty Counsel and IFA to pray for Israel in light of the threats against the nation. Many historical atrocities have been committed against Israel on the ninth of Av. During the prayer call, intercessors prayed that God would deliver Israel in a miraculous way so that they would know that He did it and not their own strength. That night, a 5.4 magnitude earthquake hit Syria and Lebanon, thwarting a planned attack on Israel. This is a direct answer to prayer! Read more . . .
Excerpt from opinion by Duvi Honig in The Jerusalem Post. In our collective memory, Tisha B’Av has always been a solemn day, marked by the destruction of the First and Second Temples. This year, however, the day bore witness to what many of us view as a modern-day miracle—a testament to divine intervention that could not have come at a more crucial time.
Reports confirmed a 5.4-magnitude earthquake that struck Syria and Lebanon, profoundly impacting the region. This was not just any seismic event; it may have served as an unanticipated yet divine act that thwarted a grave threat against the Jewish nation. Hezbollah, an established proxy of Iran, had been preparing to launch an attack on Israel—a direct affront planned deliberately for Tisha B’Av. Many of the group’s underground tunnels, teeming with armaments, may have been reduced to rubble by an act of God to protect His children, which could effectively halt Hezbollah’s nefarious plan before it could materialize.
It is hard to perceive it as mere coincidence that the earth shook on the very day Hezbollah had intended to send Israel into mourning once more. With tunnels collapsing and their arsenals buried, what could have been a devastating assault turned into a day of bewildering relief and gratitude.
Throughout history, Jews have faced adversaries who sought to dismantle our spirit and our faith. This recent event is yet another example that, irrespective of the gathered forces against us, divine protection remains steadfast. Tisha B’Av, usually a day of sorrow and reflection, was transformed into a moment where we could see the hand of God in action, turning our potential despair into potential reassurance.

Is there any proof that tunnels collapsed? We certainly prayed for God’s hand to be done in His Will, His Way. Are there any links that show tunnels were destroyed?
Logic plus maps can be proof. Therefore:

Logically, if tunnels were in the area of the quake, it’s unlikely they would survive a 6.2 mile deep earthquake. The deepest tunnel the IDF has found in Gaza is 230 feet. One mile is 5280 feet, 6.2 miles is 32,736 feet. IDF intelligence is usually pretty good. In fact, according to The Times of Israel,

I had a dream of a devastating earthquake. It was so real. The ground was all torn up. I saw no trees. It was desert, big boulders, caves destroyed.
As we were praying on Monday in the IFA zoom, succor hallel, was praying in accordance with their prophetic declarations the Lord gave them with lightning proclamations over Turkey, Iran and Russia. Rick Ridings was proclaiming psalm 29 that states with lightening God shakes the earth, He quakes the earth and splits the cedars in Lebanon. This was a sign, God is crumbling the thrones of darkness with his might hand.

Thank you, Chuck – this is what I was hoping to see addressed – the question of whether or not this earthquake genuinely did provide protection to Israel as the JP author has speculated that it did. The timing has a significance that makes me want the answer to be a clear “yes”. At the same time, the strength of the earthquake doesn’t seem to have been enough to cause the kinds of disruption that the JP author was speculating to have happened. It may be that there was indeed just enough disruption to prevent an attack which otherwise would have happened – but we may never hear the actual details from those who were there in the tunnels that night.
