I Prayed have prayed
Lord, we pray for wisdom for our lawmakers as they work to avoid a shutdown. Let them hear Your voice and, above all else, let Your will be done!

As a key funding deadline fast approaches and the nation careens toward a government shutdown, one top Democrat is insisting that his party isn’t budging. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is demanding concessions before any vote is passed.

From Fox News:

All but one House Democrat rejected Republicans’ plan for a roughly straightforward extension of FY 2025 funding levels, through Nov. 21, aimed at giving appropriators more time for a longer-term deal.

Jeffries blasted the measure — called a continuing resolution (CR) — as partisan and has demanded that Republicans make concessions on healthcare in exchange for Democratic support.

He signaled during a last-minute news conference on Monday that Democrats would reject anything less than a written plan to extend Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies enacted during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This press conference came ahead of White House meeting on Monday afternoon between President Trump and top congressional leaders.

If Congress cannot agree on a funding deal by midnight on October 1, the government will enter a partial shutdown, according to Fox. This could lead to losses for the economy and the American people. At the same time, it could also hurt legislators, especially with the midterms coming up next year.

President Trump, for his part, seems prepared for the worst. Vice President JD Vance insisted that the White House does not want a shutdown but, if one were to occur, it would give the President immense executive power while the rest of the government is out. In a recent memo, the White House’s budget office directed federal agencies to aggressively slash jobs and programs in the event of a shutdown.

As the deadline approaches, neither side seems willing to budge. Senate Majority Leader John Thune recently accused Democrats of holding the country hostage with their demands for health care concessions. Speaker Johnson, meanwhile, has maintained that those concessions must be discussed later in the year after a funding resolution is passed.

The deadline is tonight, and lawmakers will likely be working all day to try to avert a shutdown. Let’s pray for wisdom for them, and let’s pray for God’s will to be done!

I read online that Trump’s administration has already met and decided to cut many offices and jobs of bureaucrats that have needed to go and that this crisis will enable them to do this , so it would be a great way to clean house of many unnecessary positions and people that are not on board with President Trump’s agenda for America. I pray that the Lord’s will be done in this matter and not the willl of man in Jesus’s name.
