Two days earlier, FOXBusiness pointed out: “At the heart of the fight is transshipment .” They’ve been buying goods, like steel, from countries like China and selling them to the U.S., so those countries don’t have to pay the tariffs.

When President Trump followed through on his threat to rename the smallest of the Great Lakes, many along the political spectrum expressed their fury.

Many asked if President Trump could do such a thing. According to Apple and Google Maps, he could.

Renaming

It’s been going on for a long time. Victor Davis Hanson said:

Going back to the Roman age, every time an unpopular emperor died or was executed or was exiled, the Roman puppet Senate issued a damnatio memoriae. …And what that meant was all of his images and his name placards all over the empire — 70 million people, a million square miles — were erased.

Dr. Hanson pointed out that President Obama renamed Mt. McKinley as Mt. Denali, which was the Indigenous name.

The Long March of Marxism

Renaming has been used far more on the left.

It’s a key tool in breaking down the Judeo-Christian society in order to prepare the way for total control by Marxists.

St. Petersburg was renamed Leningrad, and Tsaritsyn was renamed Stalingrad, after the first two chairmen of the Council of People’s Commissars of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, which used to be called Russia.

Wokeisms

The Soviets divided their society by class so they’d be easier to control, but in America, capitalism has gone a long way to leveling out class division, offering people of every income level the opportunity to pursue the American Dream. Because communists knew they couldn’t take over America by force, they began to infiltrate our schools, courts, and media. As Marxists rose up leaders on every mountain of influence, they began to divide by race. A big part of that has been to make Americans feel bad about our racist past.

So the name changing began:

• The Washington Redskins are now the Commanders

• Columbus Day was changed to Indigenous Peoples’ Day

• Aunt Jemima is now Pearl Milling Company

We can’t sweep it under the rug, but many of our founding fathers wanted to abolish slavery.

The Sexual Revolution

I’ve heard that term so often, but I don’t remember having the epiphany that this renaming of immorality is actually in its name, a facet of the Communist Revolution.

In 1963, the 45 goals of the Communist Party USA were read into the Congressional record.

Four directly attacked sexual purity:

#24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them “censorship” and a violation of free speech and free press.

#25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

#26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy, and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy.”

The very word “gay” is a name change intended to fulfill that one.

#40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

“Living in sin” is now called “living together.” Because we abdicated responsibility with that name change, it opened the way for a flood of degeneracy and promiscuity.

Though it may not be obvious, this one opened the door to an attack on sexual purity:

#39. Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals.

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), which counselors rely on to assess how they can help people, stopped calling homosexuality a mental illness in 1973.

Before the Supreme Court ruled that it’s unconstitutional to forbid counselors from helping minors who want to rid themselves of same-sex attraction or the desire to change genders, 22 states and Washington, D.C., had made that illegal, and five other states restricted counselors.

They weaponized compassion, calling those of us who care for their eternal souls and what’s being communicated to our children “haters.”

A Warning from 250 Years Ago

The Continental Congress called for a Day of Humiliation, Fasting, and Prayer on May 17, 1776, exactly 250 years before America was rededicated to the Lord at Rededicate 250. On that Friday, two months before our nation’s birth, Rev. Dr. John Witherspoon preached a sermon that, when published, became a key motivator for Congress calling for a Declaration of Independence. I portrayed him at IFA’s Rededicate America event on the third and Fourth of July at the Museum of the Bible. In the monologue, I read from Rev. Dr. Witherspoon’s sermon of that day:

Nothing is more certain than that a general profligacy and corruption of manners make a people ripe for destruction. A good form of government may hold the rotten materials together for some time, but beyond a certain pitch, even the best constitution will be ineffectual, and slavery must ensue.

Slavery to what?

As we’re watching Democratic Socialists of America win primaries for the upcoming midterm elections, we can’t forget that Chairman Lenin wrote, “The goal of socialism is communism.”

I was out on a bike ride in New York City, where Muslim Marxist Mayor Mamdani paved the way for other DSA candidates across the country to win their primaries. I saw clear evidence that many are encouraged to make that name change from socialism to communism in a hurry. On the bike lane, there are yield signs where pedestrians may cross. On every block for about two miles, someone had put up this flyer on those signs:

The Revolutionary Communists of America (RCA) chose Chairman Lenin to rally the comrades (a term they actually use on their site). Five million died in those first seven years of communism under their poster boy. RCA reports to the Revolutionary Communist International, active in 70 nations.

The site www.CommunistUSA.org boasts, “There are thousands of revolutionary communists in the US ready to organize and fight for revolution.”

They are “committed to the overthrow of capitalism in our lifetime,” and they say, “Now is the time for action.”

Lake America

President Trump’s name change — to bookend the Gulf of America, which he changed on day one of his second term — may not be just a poke in the eye of an unruly neighbor. Maybe it’s a stand against those who have been changing names for decades and want to tear down the fabric of our society “now.”

Lord, wake up those who are lost in the distractions of this age and those who think communism could never take a foothold here. May Your Church rise up and stand for You! May they get to the polls and vote for candidates committed to biblical values. This nation was rededicated to You! May we pray and live like it!
