I Prayed have prayed
Father, command Your angel armies to protect presidential candidates and all others involved in the election process from violent acts and intentions.
Reading Time: 4 minutes

On Saturday, July 13, everything about this year’s presidential election changed in a split-second when a bullet aimed at former President Trump’s head grazed his ear at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, a mere two days before the start of the Republican National Convention. Amid the questions and the probes of how such a despicable act of violence could happen and who might be behind it, a story emerges that supersedes all others: God answered our pleas for divine protection. President Trump himself was quick to credit God’s intervention for his survival in the assassination attempt. “Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers yesterday, as it was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening,” he posted on Truth Social, “We will FEAR NOT, but instead remain resilient in our Faith and Defiant in the face of Wickedness. Our love goes out to the other victims and their families. We pray for the recovery of those who were wounded and hold in our hearts the memory of the citizen who was so horribly killed.

According to the Gateway Pundit, a prophet by the name of Brandon Briggs had prophesied that there would be an assassination attempt on Donald Trump involving a bullet grazing his ear. In the video, which was uploaded on YouTube three months ago and is now going viral on X, Briggs states: “I saw Trump rising up, and then I saw an attempt on his life. This bullet flew by his ear and it came so close to his head it busted his eardrum. He fell to his knees during this timeframe and started to worship the Lord. He got radically born again during this timeframe; people are saying he’s saved now. But he becomes really on fire for Jesus.”

This prophecy and Trump’s miraculous survival indicate that God has allowed a tragedy He foresaw and warned about for good: the intensification of Trump’s devotion to Him and the multiplication of His glory as the supernatural intervention of His hand is being made known.

Even the death of rally attendee Corey Comperatore, a former Fire Chief who shielded his family from harm against the incoming bullet, appears to serve a higher purpose. His heroism is inspiring many, and the touching tribute written by his daughter Allyson touched many hearts before its post went from public to private. “The media will not tell you that he died a real-life superhero,” she wrote. “They are not going to tell you how quickly he threw my mom and I to the ground. They are not going to tell you that he shielded my body from the bullet that came at us.” His heroism is an inspiration of a father’s warrior-protector-courage, much needed in a society that is rapidly destroying God-designed manhood.

All these are answers to prayer for divine protection, Donald Trump’s spiritual life and growth, and spiritual awakening. People are being shaken awake by the need to unite, renounce hatred, and move forward with faith and courage.

Another answer to prayer is unfolding as I write this: Judge Cannon has dismissed the classified document case against Trump, citing the unlawful appointment of special counsel Jack Smith. Some believe the assassination attempt partly prompted it, and it may have a residual effect on other cases that are all expressions of the lawfare we have been praying against.

There is another dimension to the July 13 events we need to consider as intercessors: Divine protection supersedes human protection. There is a full investigation underway into possible security lapses that made it possible for the shooter to take aim from the roof of a nearby building. As good and thorough as the United States Secret Service is, the assassination attempt on Trump shows that nothing put together by humans is foolproof.

Only God’s protection is.

How to Pray

That encourages and compels us to persist in prayer for divine protection over the election process as it unfolds:

  • For both candidates and their running mates, as well as their families.
  • For other high-profile Americans involved in campaigning.
  • For the Republican National Congress taking place this week in Milwaukee.
  • For the Democratic National Congress in violence-plagued Chicago August 19-22.
  • For the near-successful assassination attempt and God’s visible protection to prompt many to seek God during the election season.
  • For faith in God to take center stage in both conventions.
  • For protection over the voting process, that faith will triumph over fear of violence.

Father, we thank You for the clear evidence of Your protection over Donald Trump last Saturday. We pray for great comfort of the Comperatore family, who lost their hero father. May His story inspire many to seek You and become people of courage. We pray for a dome of protection over every event and convention and every candidate, in this election season. May Your Divine Hand restrain and nullify every violent intention and act. We pray that our election season will be as much a season of choosing You as it is choosing a new president. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
