Amy Coney Barrett is the most recent conservative to land on the censorship chopping block. Why are people today so opposed to free speech?
From Jonathan Turley. We have been discussing the rising support for censorship on the left in the last few years. Silencing opposing views has become an article of faith for many on the left, including leading Democratic leaders from President Joe Biden to former President Barack Obama. What is most distressing is how many journalists and writers have joined the call for censorship. However, even with this growing movement, the letter of hundreds of “literary figures” this week to Penguin Random House is chilling. The editors and writers call on the company to rescind a book deal with Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett because they disagree with her judicial philosophy. After all, why burn books when you can effectively ban them?
Who is praying on the wall?
The public letter entitled “We Dissent” makes the usual absurd protestation that, just because we are seeking to ban books of those with opposing views, we still “care deeply about freedom of speech.” They simply justify their anti-free speech position by insisting that any harm “in the form of censorship” is less than “the form of assault on inalienable human rights” in opposing abortion or other constitutional rights.
Yet, the letter is not simply dangerous. It is perfectly delusional. While calling for the book to be blocked, the writers bizarrely insist “we are not calling for censorship.” …
Nevertheless, there are many editors and publishing figures who list their companies (including HarperCollins, Random House and other companies) and university presses (including Cambridge, Harvard, Michigan Northwestern, Oxford) with their titles in calling for censorship. …

Father, I come humbly before you. I cry at what the devil is doing to our society, our world. We pray for the defeat of Baal, Ashtorath, and other gods who are causing people to act to destroy people, families, communities and our nation. I pray that your Holy Spirit would draw many people to you during this hard time. and change what is happening in our nation. During this election, may people be elected that are serving not just our nation, but you also. Send a spirit of repentance on our states and on our nation that we may be healed and spread your light.
People need to really understand that Biden, and mostly iris handlers including Barack Obama, are out to destroy this country. Everything that they have done is detrimental to the well-being of ordinary Americans. From rampant crime to open borders to inflation – everything they have done was crafty and deliberate, and their lapdog media has lied for them and covered it all up, blaming Trump for most of it and when that did not work they started in on Putin.
Christians, who only vote at a rate of 25% of their numbers, need to vote. Prayer is great, but God gave us this system and we ignore it thinking God will part the Red Sea so we don’t have to bother which may indeed put an end to this once-great republic., we could be in for a nasty surprise, one that could well mean the end of this once-great Republic
I pray for protection and freedom of speech for our Supreme Court justices as well as for all in our nation. Change THE hearts and minds of our media and Govt and I pray that Elon Musk has a positive influence on this continual banning on anything that contradicts the lefts views allowing Christians and all of faith to stand strong in their values and stand up for their rights of freedom in our nation. Praying that the upcoming elections bring candidates to victory who stand for the Bible, freedom, the Constitution and open their hearts to see your Son. In Jesus mighty name, Amen!
Father in the name of Jesus , We bind the spirit operating over this nation trying to silence the VOICE of freedom. We are a nation founded on freedom and freedom SHALL remain in our land. It’s time to create businesses to print banned books. It’s time to create new businesses that provide a place for free speech (this is happening). It’s time. We are a creative and innovative people in this nation. Lord, raise up those with the creativity to do so. Unite them with people of like minds who have the funds to support and create these new businesses. It’s time to separate. Let God’s sheep and those who are patriotic and love the freedoms offered by our Constitution unite as one and move forward to establish these businesses.
