A Texas court has delivered a joyful win for free speech and religious expression, dismissing a lawsuit filed by the East Plano Islamic Center (EPIC) in the Dallas-area that sought to block Christian missionaries from sharing the Gospel near the mosque.

The lawsuit, filed in October 2025 against Landon Thurman’s Testimonies of God (TOG), Heritage Grace Community Church, Jason Osborne and 20 other unnamed defendants, aimed to prohibit distribution of Evangelical pamphlets, fliers, letters or other documents offensive to the Islamic faith on public property.

The court ruled on March 23 under the Texas Citizens Participation Act (TCPA), a law protecting free speech, allowing the missionaries to continue their activities. Evidence showed that the preaching did not disrupt mosque services, complied with sound regulations, and was done respectfully and peacefully.

A spokesperson for EPIC admitted during court testimony that the preaching is not audible inside the mosque.

“[They] do not want to disrupt or prevent religious services at the mosque but to proclaim the truth in love. They want to exercise their rights to free speech and to respect every person, regardless of what they believe, because each person is made in the image of God, and Christians are commanded to love their neighbors as they would love themselves,” the filing stated – The Christian Post.

“This lawsuit was an extraordinary demand by EPIC to ban missionaries from peacefully, and on public property, handing out religious flyers and preaching the Gospel,” said Lea Patterson, attorney for the defendants.

The dismissal is a clear victory for freedom of speech and the declaring the Gospel in public spaces. For the missionaries, it is a moment of relief and celebration, ensuring they can continue their mission without fear of being silenced.
