American jobs and our economy have been hung out to dry as the Democrats in the House, too busy to do their jobs, continue their reckless pursuit of President Trump. A bill “stuck” in the House will create over 100,000 new jobs if it is ratified before the congressional term ends.

The Democrats are willing to sacrifice these new jobs and the trade agreement for their own selfish reasons. Simply put, they don’t want President Trump to have a “win.”

We are at the end of the 2019 Congressional Session, but unfortunately the only activity that seems to be taking place in the House of Representatives is the impeachment inquiry. Other bills and issues have taken a back seat as the Democrats continue their hijack of the schedule of the House. The Democrats have devoted hours to their determined effort to remove the President, while a very important bill sits waiting to be ratified.

The USMCA,  which is the new, bipartisan trade agreement between the U.S. Canada and Mexico, has been sitting in the House now for months waiting to be ratified by a vote.

The bill replaces the old NAFTA agreement and has received a “thumbs up” from Mexico, Canada, environmental groups, unions, and the Senate. In September, numerous trade groups wrote a joint letter urging the House to take action so that this opportunity is not lost. And yet, still it sits.

Rep. Kevin Hern (R-OK) shared his concerns regarding the holdup, “While a vast majority of Americans – and a bipartisan majority of Congress – support the USMCA, Speaker Pelosi refuses to allow a debate or vote on the House floor out of spite for our President. This goes beyond partisan games; this deal will create 176,000 new jobs and stimulate more than $68 billion in new economic growth. Simply put, the USMCA is good for America. It’s time to put the American people ahead of politics and pass the USMCA!”

The trade agreement, which leaders from the United States, Mexico and Canada signed in November, must be ratified by lawmakers in all three countries. Mexican lawmakers have already done so.

And yet the Democrats of the House continue to let it sit refusing to ratify this beneficial agreement, even though Speaker Pelosi has called it the “easiest trade deal.” Why? Because they don’t want to give President Trump a “win,” even though Speaker Pelosi denies that the impeachment inquiry is affecting the bill timeline. Reports suggest Speaker Pelosi may sit on the bill until 2020.

This bill needs to be “unstuck.”

The Democratic leadership may hope we won’t notice, but we DO notice…and we need to let our representatives know that we notice. This bill needs to be released to a vote and the stall tactic stopped. Vice President Pence has travelled around the country to encourage the House to bring this bill to a vote. Politico reported that these efforts have not been successful. Let’s stand with VP Pence and add the power of prayer to his efforts.

Lord, we ask that you would contend with those who contend with us. We ask that the USMCA bill be released to a vote so that it is able to bring forth fruit and benefit for all three countries. We ask you to break the bars of the yoke of the Democrats over the House. Lord, their refusal to do their work for the good of the American people is harming our nation. Deliver us, O Lord, from senseless delay and inaction.
