I Prayed have prayed
Lord, thank You that You have given us everything we need to be the weapon-not the target! Strengthen us to utilize the weapons You have given us. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Reading Time: 4 minutes

I don’t know about you, but for me the past couple of weeks have been a challenge.

I have been personally, once again, pressing through some areas I thought I had already overcome. It has not been fun.

One night over the weekend I was sitting, reading, and thinking. I was thinking about how this thing I thought was over had cropped up again and I was once again fighting symptoms. I was praying and asking God if I had opened a door somewhere to allow this attack.

My granddaughter Brailee was sitting beside me playing with a toy. We were not talking. I had not shared how I was feeling with anyone. As God often does, He spoke to me through her, a little ten-year-old girl.

She looked over at me amid my silent questioning and said these words…

“Nana, if you don’t want to be the target, then you will have to be the weapon.”

In stunned silence, I just looked at her. I asked, “What did you say?” She simply repeated her sentence and continued to play.

Be the weapon – if you don’t want to be the target. In other words, get off the defensive and run at your enemy. Like David did.

The Bible tells us in 1 Samuel 17, David picked up five smooth stones and ran at his enemy.

This was no normal enemy, he was a giant, the most feared in the land. Still, David knew the power of his God and he was not afraid.

As I pondered on Brailee’s words God took me to this story of David and Goliath. I began to think about David’s weapons, five smooth stones.

Here is what I feel God is showing me. Five Smooth Weapons…what would they be?

The Word of the Living God

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12 NIV)

The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever. (Isaiah 40:8 NIV)

The Word of God is the final say. Remember, Jesus Himself, when tempted of the devil, declared, “IT IS WRITTEN.” He stood firm on what the Word of God says and so must we.

Prayer

The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. (James 5:16 KJV)

And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him. (1 John 5:14-15 NKJV)

Pray without ceasing – prayer is our connection to God. We know if we continue in prayer, God hears us. We cannot stop praying and we cannot stop believing in the power of our prayers.

Fasting

So, He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.” (Mark 9:29 NKJV)

That your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. (Matthew 6:18 ESV)

Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke? (Isaiah 58:6 ESV)

There are times we must add fasting to our prayers – and if there was ever a time for fasting – I believe that time is now.

Communion

For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. (1 Cor. 11:26 ESV)

Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. Matthew 26:26-28

And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” And likewise, the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood. (Luke 22:19-20 ESV)

There is great power in communion – as we take communion, we partner with all Jesus did at the cross. I have witnessed the power of communion breaking attacks in my own personal life. If you don’t take communion often, you may consider making this part of your weekly time with God.

Peace.

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all. (2 Thess. 3:16 NIV)

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. (Isaiah 26:3 ESV)

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. (John 14:27 ESV)

Peace is a weapon. Just as fear is a weapon of the enemy – peace is God’s weapon. A person who walks in continual peace is hard to devour. Make peace one of your weapons. Refuse, absolutely refuse fear and confess and declare peace daily.

These are the weapons God has shown me. I am sure there are many more. Remember, David picked up 5 stones, but it only took one. One of these weapons will hit the mark and bring down our enemy. It did with Jesus, it did with David, and it will with us. God is no respecter of persons.

There are indeed giants standing before us. It can no longer be denied. The only question is…will we be the target or the weapon? For me, I choose to be the weapon – how about you?

Thank you for your article! I am reminded of the statement,”out of the mouth of babes.” I have been blessed!!!

In contemplation regarding the five smooth stones I’m reminded that Jesus is The Rock that was in the wilderness. That solid Rock that gave Life giving water. The children of Israel were being washed and sustained by that Spiritual Rock. 1Peter 2:5 states “Ye also, as lively stones are built up a spiritual house.”

The story of David versus Goliath gives us insight into the battle Jesus versus Satan. Jesus turned his battles into victory by hurling the words “It is Written”at Satan.

In gathering five stones from the brook we have an analogy of the five fold ministry in Ephesians 5:11 being immersed in the living water of Christ.
These ministries, as lively stones, help perfect the faith of the saints, who are the lively stones and holypriesthood.
1Pe. 2:5

2Cor. 10:4-“for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;
5-casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalted itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to The obedience of Christ.”

Weapons have their distinct power.
Communion, the Living Word, prayer, fasting, and peace are the analogy the author so beautifully gave of the stones in this article. These are strong weapons the Father can utilize from obedient servants.

Psalms 22:3 States
“thou art Holy,oh thou that inhabitants the praises of Israel.” God
Lives in our Praise’s. This produces Devine Love.
Consider 1Cor.13:1-3, If I have tongues, gifts of prophecy, understanding mysteries, all knowledge, all faith, bestow all my goods to feed the poor, or give my body to be burned, if I do not have Love it profits me nothing.
Communion then is our starting stone which brings into anointing the other weapons of our warfare.

Spiritual desire from the heart of the Father brings us into the responsibility to be equipped. In communion the Intercessor Warrior is conscripted by the Spirit to choose the Anointed Weapon for that specific hour toward the Target.

I am encouraged by the reminder that God is on the throne and we are well equipped.

Father thank you for your Holy Spirit inspiring the truth in your peoples hearts and mind. In Jesus name I pray.

This report comes as I am coming out of a very dark period. I have had my home attacked and damaged by raccoons, me personally by a Christian friend for not being vaccinated, and many other strange and out of the ordinary distressing events. I have become accustom to expecting the unexpected. The Holy Spirit is telling me my prayers are effective and I need keep my house in order, no hate no anger no sin, I need to be peaceful. The events of the last several months has both worn me down, but given me strength through all of the “trials” God was with me, blessing me. I see and know God will never let me down ~ He is with me now. That renews me to keep up my prayers as an intercessor, I know I am over the target. Your post Kim, confirms what the Holy Spirit was telling me this morning, keep up your prayer, do not let my heart be troubled. God is with us! May the Peace of God be on all his people!

Included in prayer should be praise and worship! In 2 Chronicles 20 and other places in Biblical history, it was “as God’s people sang and praised Him” that He brought them victory.

Yes that’s so true. Praise and worship preceded those going into battle. There were even times that was all that was needed. Let’s praise. Let’s worship. Let’s pray. Let’s declare His word. Let’s march out with our orders…He has never lost a battle.

The Lord has told me that comfort is for fresh wounds. Incision is for old festered wounds. Don’t give comfort where infection is present.

Was this ever so encouraging to me, got me over into the ‘Strong’s’ and deep study about the words “it is written”. As the little girl said, ‘If you don’t want to be a target, be a weapon!’ Now I am amazed at how many ‘weapons’ were brought to front of GOD’s Army this morning! “Thank you, Father, for this word for me this morning, especially after reading of those who are in Afghanistan in harms way. Thank you, Father, I am able to sit here in NE TN in my home and read and speak YOUR WORD with no physical person trying to stop me, and a way to ‘beat up ‘ on the spiritual enemy with YOUR WORDS! I can yell out loud day in and day out at the enemy with YOUR WORDS, because YOUR WORDS in my mouth have the same effect as YOUR WORDS IN YOUR MOUTH! In JESUS’ Mighty Name, Amen and Amen!”

O my goodness did I need to read this word of encouragement today!! Yes!
Thanks so much for this and for the corroborating scriptures! I am putting them into a new notebook called “Divine Weapons”.
You have brought a renewed revelation of the POWER of the WORD of God which of course is Jesus. I was just seeing a picture of Him commanding us- His troops to arise and put those stones (Word of God) into our pouch and to go out and meet the enemy head on as assuredly the victory IS ours by His foreordained will and power!! Yes! You have revived me! Thank you!!
As David had been anointed to be king and as yet he was not king, Your word Lord allowed him to know the victory was assuredly his . Your word to us is the same as to David. We are seated with You in the heavenly places- our true seat of ruling and reigning with You and IN You and THROUGH You!!
Circumstances are not truth. Your WORD is truth! O Lord thank You for awakening us or at least me to once again come out to the battle with assurance of Who You are and clothed in the full armor of Jesus Christ the Victor! You have already won Lord!

Thank-you kindly for encouraging us!
There is power in prayer.
We don’t always see the results right away, but in the end God shall continue the good work He has started !!
Keep pressing in, because God uses your prayers to establish His kingdom. Prayer is the Holy Spirit intervening though us. We are His hands and feet.
We should not give up hope, no matter how bleak the situation seems, because prayer restores and brings
redemption to a dying hurting world.
The Holy Spirit never grows tired or weary, He is very faithful.
