As a tireless advocate for children, a supporter and encourager to our military, a trusted advisor to our President, a wife, mother, businesswoman, entrepreneur, and style icon … our First Lady, Melania Trump, is enormously important both to our nation at large and to our President. So, how can we pray for her today?

Who is Melania Trump—not the public figure, but the person?

Mrs. Melania Trump was born in Slovenia, which was then part of Yugoslavia. She was baptized as a Roman Catholic, and she remains Catholic to this day.

Mrs. Trump’s mother worked as a patternmaker for a children’s clothing manufacturer in their city. Because of her mother’s work, the young Melania got experience with fashion through modeling at local shows for that clothing company.

At age 16, she was discovered by a fashion photographer, and her professional modeling career took off. Her modeling career eventually took her to Paris and Milan, and she then moved to New York in 1996.

Mrs. Trump met her future husband, Donald J. Trump, in 1998. After dating for several years, they got married in 2005. Shortly thereafter, in 2006, their son Barron was born.

According to WhiteHouse.gov, Mrs. Trump is the first FLOTUS to be a naturalized citizen of the United States. She is also the second foreign-born FLOTUS in our nation’s history.

What type of role has the First Lady taken on?

As First Lady of the United States in two different terms, Mrs. Trump has focused first and foremost on being a wife to President Trump and a mother to their son Barron. She has worked hard to make the White House a home for her small family. She is also known for her calming and supportive influence on President Trump as he deals with the daily rigors of his own role.

Mrs. Trump has always been concerned about the well-being of children, and she advocated for children in various situations even before she became FLOTUS. Since her entrance into the political realm, she has continued and expanded her advocacy for children, both through the BE BEST initiative she sponsored during President Trump’s first term and with her recent initiatives helping young adults transition out of the foster system and move into successful, independent adult life.

Mrs. Trump is also known to be an advocate for and encourager of our nation’s military personnel. She is known for inviting military families to participate in events at the White House. She has also traveled to various military bases both at home and abroad.

What challenges is she facing in her role?

In the past, Mrs. Trump has been relentlessly attacked by the fake news mouthpiece of the wicked. It’s clear that these ongoing attacks have been challenging to navigate. And while she certainly is strong enough to weather the storm, it is this writer’s opinion that one of the biggest challenges she may face—and, therefore, one of the biggest things that we, as intercessors, can pray about for her—is that the Lord would protect her and her family from the attacks and stresses of these attacks from the left.

Also, President Trump rightly considers Mrs. Trump to be a trustworthy advisor for himself personally. However, obviously, the challenges that President Trump faces each day are on a much higher level than the challenges that an ordinary person who is not the President of the United States would face.

Therefore, the topics that Mrs. Trump may be called on to discuss with her husband from day to day could be things of far greater impact than we could ever imagine. We need to petition the Lord to give her wisdom in all things, but especially in her wise counsel provided to her husband in private.

How can we pray for our First Lady, Melania Trump?

Here are a few prayer points to remember as you pray for Mrs. Trump:

• As we pray for all people, pray first and foremost that Mrs. Trump would know God more intimately than ever before, and that she would be close to Jesus Christ, her personal Lord and Savior.
• Pray for her physical safety and protection, as well as that of her family (including her and President Trump’s son, Barron).
• Ask the Lord to give both her and her Secret Service detail great discernment everywhere they go.
• Ask the Lord to give her His wisdom—for personal aspects of her life (such as her mind and heart); for her role as a mother; for her role as a supporter and advisor to her husband, President Trump; for her role as a businesswoman; and also wisdom for her public initiatives, public appearances, and public image and communications as First Lady of the United States.
• Pray that she would hear the voice of God in all the ways He speaks, just like the wives of various political figures in the Bible also heard the voice of the Lord.
• Ask the Lord to guard Mrs. Trump’s heart from all the attacks of the fake news and of the hateful left.
• As she is passionate about the well-being of children, ask the Lord to show Mrs. Trump and her staff how she can best make a difference in this area.
• Pray that her voice will be heard, and that children everywhere, most certainly in the United States, will benefit more than ever from her tireless advocacy for children’s causes.
• Ask the Lord to show her how she can continue being a source of encouragement and advocacy for our nation’s military, since that is also a cause near and dear to Mrs. Trump’s heart.
• Pray that the Lord will guide her regarding what official initiatives she should or should not develop during her tenure as FLOTUS.
• Pray that the Lord would help her to raise Barron in the way he should go; so that, when he is old, he will not depart from it.
• Pray that the Lord will continue to protect her 20-year marriage with President Trump, and that both she and President Trump will continue to love and honor one another as Christ prescribes.

Friend, our amazing First Lady is known the world over to be an icon of style, but there is so much more to her than that.

Mrs. Melania Trump is in a position of great influence, even if she focuses primarily on being a wife and mother, rather than on trying to garner her own media attention. She has a vital role in our nation. Therefore, will you join us in lifting her up to the Father in prayer today?
