I Prayed have prayed
Father God, align our emotions to Yours. May what angers You anger us. May what causes You to grieve cause us to grieve.

IFA Board Member Larry Tomczak has devoted the last 50 years to evangelism and honesty about the cultural decline. He has been a culture warrior with a deep understanding that our society has barreled down a way that seems right to some, but it leads to eternal death (Proverbs 14:12). Here are his reflections on the state of the nation.

In the aftermath of the assassination attempt on President Trump, we need to take stock of our toxic environment in America where podcasters, politicians and pundits’ traffic in hate corroding our culture. We know it’s a sin to be angry about things God’s not angry about, but do we realize that it’s also a sin not to be angry about things He is angry about?

Last week the world watched a demonically inspired 20-year-old discharge his weapon with murderous intent on a U.S. President, kill a devoted husband and father at the scene, recognize an inexcusable lapse of security on the grounds, plus continue having to put up with those  incessantly  bombarding us with rage-filled rhetoric and imagery of violence…it’s time to do as the Bible directs: “Be angry yet do not sin” (Eph. 4:26).

Pastors can no longer play it safe trying to avoid addressing cultural issues but instead must warn their flocks of what’s impacting them and their families as the “watchmen on the wall”  and “salt” Jesus told us we were to be.  Salt prevents societal decay.

“If the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, that person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand” (Ezek. 33:6).

Exposing Evil

Hate mongers drum up vitriol on both right and left sides of the political spectrum. Pundits and influencers branded former President Trump as “Hitler… Nazi… racist…Fascist dictator…the enemy of democracy… MAGA extremist”… So should we be surprised when someone fueled by incendiary statements steps up to “take him out?” After all, Biden recently told donors on a phone call “We’re done talking about this debate. It’s time to put Trump in a bullseye!”[Note: Later he admitted it was a “mistake“ but the damage was done].

We can no longer look the other way or plead ignorance. Lives are literally at stake! The grieving sister of the husband and father shot as a bystander in the Butler, PA event said, “This hatred for one man took the life of the one man we loved the most.” The hatred is irrational, and the rhetoric is dangerous.

Speaking Specifically

Consider the irresponsible cover of the once respectable New Republic magazine portraying Donald Trump as Hitler with the headline “American Fascism. What it Would Look Like?” How about  Joe Scarborough  pontificating on his “Morning Joe“ show that “Trump kept Hitler’s speeches next to his bed…you hear it in his words and see it in his rallies-Fascist Hitler-like rhetoric!”

One of the panelists on “The View” (started by Barbara Walters as a fun and stimulating time for “lady chat”) twice labeled former President Trump as the  “Antichrist!” How about Stephen Colbert – CBS? Joy Reid – MS NBC; Joy Behar – ABC; Jim Acosta – CNN? And how about political race baiters with animosity on steroids like Lynne Cheney, Maxine Waters and Adam Schiff? The ongoing drumbeats of invective and insidious personal attacks must stop, and we need righteous anger motivating masses to speak up.

Time to Turn

Conservative, patriotic zealots on the “right” are not exempt from hateful speech. They likewise must turn and curb the vitriol [ I’m not referring here to comical parodies done by the likes of Babylon Bee-Christian counterpart to Saturday Night Live].

Mr. Trump is known for being bombastic and a “street fighter” but since his brush with death scores are praying not only for his safety but more of a statesmanship. Perhaps we saw some of that in his speech at the RNC.

Franklin Graham spoke at the Republican National Convention and has made a personal appeal to Mr. Trump to remove the inappropriate cuss words in his rallies. Maybe he’ll also soften some of his trademark  sarcastic “nicknames“ plus steer clear of spontaneous mockery that squirts out of teleprompter speeches (I cringed when he poked fun at Pelosi‘s 82-year-old husband hammer- attacked at his home). All of this is corrosive to our culture and should be stopped.

“Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outburst, and blasphemies with all malice, be taken away from you“ (Eph. 4:31). Proverbs 6:16–19 identifies six areas God hates because they bring enormous harm to individuals, marriages, families, relationships, reputations, careers and society itself. In this list is “pride, lying, hands shedding innocent blood (one example is abortion), and sowing discord.”

Here’s the Deal

In a similar seriously divided time in our history, another president, Abraham Lincoln, set an example for us to follow when he said, “With malice toward none” meaning there should be no intention to harm others, “and with charity for all” meaning we should demonstrate God‘s love to all, including enemies and opponents. The brilliant, black statesman and Christian leader, George Washington Carver,  left his legacy by challenging us with these words, “I will never let another man ruin my life by making me hate him.”

It’s time for all of us to draw upon the grace of God and do our part. With the 2024 presidential election drawing near, let’s lower the toxic temperature in our nation and elevate civility as we engage in respectful and robust discussions with those whom we differ.  In our quest to restore America to the vision and values of our Founders our time is rapidly running out.

Are you ready to call on the grace of God to do in you what’s needed so that you can do what He calls you to do in your nation?

Immediately following the assasination attempt on President Trump, I sent a group text to 13 people; I was allowing room empathy & discussion. Instead one person responded – “Jesus is loving and he would be dissapointed with your message.” My text cited the bible and trustworthy sources sounding the alarns! I also listed
several opposites to denote good versus evil. The evil is inherent in the word liberal; the veil must be lited. m Since 2015 I supported Trump. I posted the election was good versus evil – Ephesians 6:12 then and now.

We must align with God and leave the consequences to Him. Fear is the weapon turning millions into complacent and lawless citizens. We have the Spirits of God and legions of angels to win the fight using our power and authority. We heard the command: “fight, fight, fight!”

Let’s not forget Trump was a democratic donor and watched as I did how democrats would call their opponents racists and other names. I am 69 and I have witness the hatred those on the left would display against conservatives with no regard to the truth and any consequences of their rhetoric may bring. The disgusting way they treated Bob Dole and then justify it. All the while the conservatives would refrain from responding in kind but would get hammered by a media that is mostly socialist. So President Trump shows the conservatives how the dems have been fighting and gives it right back at them the Americans that love God, traditional family values, and the United States that our founding fathers started rallied behind him. Finally someone who was willing to fight back. So all this hatred in our country sits squarely on the dems and the leftists in this country who have no respect for the working class and actually look down on us deplorables. So I do not put any blame on President Trump for responding in kind to those on the left who have the goal of transforming the US into a socialist state with them and the elites in control. But yes I agree it needs to be toned down and the violence unconditionally condemned by all, still waiting for all dems publicly condemning it. I am praying for all politicians to repent and ask for God’s guidance. I feel God guiding me to do this and I will follow God’s guidance. Be safe trust in God and God bless. 🙏😇🙏

Other than claiming anger is a “sin”, great commentary!

Where does it make it a “sin” to be angry? It’s not part of the 10 Commandments, but it seems “being slow to anger” is an instruction more than a commandment. Am I wrong?

Please look at when the vitriol begin. It began with Former President Trump. His 2016 campaign ushered in the spirit of strife, bullying, name calling, wrath by telling people to slug someone who was at his campaign. He said terrible lies about other candidates who were ruining as well. Some of the very people who is standing with him today spoke against Trump’s actions and words. They also prophecies what would happen if he was elected for president. We are now seeing the aftermath of not allowing evil to creep in.

I agree with some but not all of the things he stands for. Those things are also contrary to the Word of God. I’m praying for everyone involved. Both sides has some evil in It’s party and policies. Those type of solutions require heart changes that only God can do.
I don’t want to ve like Eli and know someone is doing evil and just let it ride. God was not pleased. We must stand for righteousness over personalities and parties. That is my prayer for the people and our government officials.

Is this something you heard former President Trump SAY or something taken out of context by the Left Wing Media? Hearsay is what listening to Left Wing rags saying, “Trump said this or that.” They were actually the ones then spreading hateful, divisive rhetoric blaming Trump to demonize a populist President! Let’s get the blame where it should be…on the corporate lying Propagandists in Media.

I have been angry for years over all this hatred and division and public humiliation against each other. I’ve been angry about division and name calling and indoctrination in schools and universities m. I’ve been angry about abortion and LGBQT and sex slavery with children and adults. I’ve been angry with our schools and taking away parental rights and teaching our children about sexuality at a really young age.
I’m also witnessing people praying a lot more and getting involved in what is right and wrong.
Keep praying and fighting with our Lord Jesus!
You are Gods Warriors!
Pull out your swords and fight for God and with God!
Prayer Warriors have been uniting and pleasing God!
Keep up the great work!

Father, thank you for my many blessings, thank you for your love and grace.
Lord, a few years ago, I witnessed hateful and name calling speech on national television and immediately thought to myself, “what are the leaders teaching our children by doing this?” It has continued and has become worse with time. I pray for others to respect and honor each other daily. This hatred has taken over America. I pray that people will respect and support each other even if their own ideals differ. You gave each of us our own personality and talents. I thank you for making me who I am and I pray you remind me of I ever dishonor another person. I love you Lord Jesus and I’m your name I always pray. Amen

Thank you, Larry, for this message. It is very enlightening. I have been very distraught and angry re our politics and didn’t know if it was right, but I do agree with the Lord’s ways and dislike what He dislikes so I guess I am okay. God bless you.

Anyone with a heart and mind knows this article is 100% correct. You have described the frustration and anger I have had with political leaders, social media and influencers over the last 20 years. It is horrible to see the decline in civility among friends and enemies.

Yes, we need to return to the stance by Carver: “I WILL NEVER LET ANOTHER MAN RUIN MY LIFE BY MAKING ME HATE HIM.”

Let’s all sound the alarm and see a shift in the rhetoric of this country.

I share all thoughts mentioned in the article. I pray Trump will cease his verbal abuse in name calling. I pray his encounter with Jesus increases his understanding and responsibility for his changed heart. May the Holy Spirit convict him and reveal his new heart. I know God has spared him for a time such as this. Thanks be to God Almighty 😇🙏

Thank you Larry for this wonderful word.
It may be that we as believers will need to do our own due diligence more thoroughly.
A number of eye witnesses are stating that shots came from several places that day – these interviews are ignored & covered up in most media narratives.
We must ask for discernment with regards to investigative journalists and not be naive in our interceding.
I respectfully share the following for consideration in our prayers for President Trump
