I sat in the front row of a U.S. Senate hearing this week and watched something unfold that I believe deserves far more attention than it is receiving.
Pray for your fellow intercessor.
The hearing was titled Hidden in Plain Sight: Confronting the Muslim Brotherhood Network in America. It was convened by Sen. Ted Cruz before the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Federal Courts, Oversight, Agency Action, and Federal Rights.
I went there as an intercessor. I’ve been covering the growing Islamic issue for over 10 years and urging prayer and action by Americans of faith.
Sitting just feet from the witnesses, I listened, watched, and prayed as testimony was entered into the congressional record about the Muslim Brotherhood and organizations witnesses alleged are connected to its ideological and organizational network in the United States.
But almost immediately, something else became impossible to ignore.
Half the committee was missing. Not simply one senator. Every Democratic member of the subcommittee declined to participate.
Senators Sheldon Whitehouse, Richard Blumenthal, Mazie Hirono, Alex Padilla, and Peter Welch were absent. Senator Cruz was the only senator sitting on the dais — not just the only senator on his side of the aisle, but the only senator in the room, period.
The empty chairs told a story of their own.
This was not a last-minute absence. The five Democratic senators announced their boycott in writing before the hearing even began, calling it a “political creepshow” and accusing Cruz of “scapegoating Muslims” to energize Republican voters ahead of Texas primaries. They stated plainly that they had no intention of engaging with the substance of the hearing at all.
Cruz noted the empty dais himself in his opening remarks, calling the absence an embarrassment and asking why not a single member of the minority thought a hearing on terrorism financing was worth attending.
Three witnesses testified. Their backgrounds were serious, and so was their evidence.
Retired FBI Special Agent Lara Burns, now a senior research fellow at George Washington University’s Program on Extremism, had worked on the Holy Land Foundation investigation — one of the most consequential terrorism-financing prosecutions in American history. That case resulted in the Holy Land Foundation and five of its leaders being convicted in 2008 of providing material support to Hamas. Burns testified about the evidence uncovered in that investigation and what she described as a long-term Muslim Brotherhood infrastructure that continues to operate inside the United States.
Attorney Arielle Klepach of the National Jewish Advocacy Center addressed a different problem: what happens when an organization tied to terrorism financing shuts down, only for the same individuals and networks to reorganize under a new name.
Kyle Shideler of the Center for Security Policy laid out, in detailed written testimony, what he described as the Brotherhood’s long-term strategy inside America. He told the subcommittee that the Holy Land Foundation trial produced an “extraordinary body of evidence” — wiretaps, internal memos, organizational charts, meeting transcripts — that laid bare a sprawling domestic infrastructure. Prosecutors in that case identified a broader network of organizations they alleged were part of it, including the Islamic Society of North America, the North American Islamic Trust, and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).
Shideler testified that Muslim Brotherhood members — including individuals later convicted on terrorism charges — worked for decades to influence leaders in both American political parties, that affiliated organizations recruited and trained chaplains for American prisons and the military, and that Brotherhood-linked organizations operated on college campuses across the country. He described CAIR specifically as growing out of what the government identified as a “Palestine Committee” network — created, he testified, to build political and media support for Hamas inside the United States.
Cruz connected this directly to recent history, telling the subcommittee that the unrest that erupted on American college campuses after October 7 “did not emerge from nowhere,” but was, in his words, the product of decades of organized institutional influence-building.
The most sobering thread of the hearing, for me, was not historical. I have known the facts and details of the history of the Muslim Brotherhood’s actions, funding, and influence in our nation. It was the fact that just the day before the hearing, Abdul El-Sayed won Michigan’s Democratic primary for U.S. Senate, defeating Rep. Haley Stevens and Mallory McMorrow — a significant win for the progressive wing of the party.
During the hearing, Cruz asked Shideler directly whether he believed a Muslim Brotherhood branch is operating in the United States. Shideler answered yes. Cruz then asked whether El-Sayed’s candidacy concerned him.
Shideler testified that it did not because of anything alleged against El-Sayed personally, but because of the network around him. He told the subcommittee that El-Sayed’s father-in-law, Jukaku Tayeb, has ties to two Brotherhood-linked organizations: he formerly served as president of CAIR-Michigan, and he has sat on the Islamic Society of North America’s Founders Committee — a body Shideler described as reserved for the organization’s most committed backers and largest funders, alongside other individuals he identified as known Brotherhood members. Shideler also raised El-Sayed’s association with Emgage, a Muslim political mobilization and candidate-recruitment organization that he testified maintains close ties to CAIR.
While El-Sayed deserves focus and scrutiny, so also does the larger pattern we are seeing. Organizations with documented, testified-to Brotherhood lineage are no longer operating only on the margins of American civic life. They are embedded in donor networks, founders’ committees, and get-out-the-vote infrastructure that touches campaigns for the United States Senate. Candidates aligned with those networks are not protesting outside the political system anymore. They are winning primaries inside it. That is not a fringe development. That is a shift in who holds power in American government — and it is happening with remarkably little scrutiny, in no small part because half the committee charged with providing that scrutiny chose not to show up.
As I sat in that hearing room, I had clarity of three of the biggest threats facing our nation, with the shifting embrace of radical ideologies. One, Islamic candidates who espouse a radically differing worldview and values that are antithetical to our founding principles and Constitution. Joining forces with them sometimes is also the second group—the rising influence of the Democratic Socialist agenda and candidates who are increasing their position and voice in the Democratic Party. And the third threat that may be uncomfortable for many of us to hear is the inactivity of people of faith in the conservative movement.
It is easy for Christians to identify the movements we believe threaten our nation. It is much harder to ask whether we have contributed to the vacuum they are filling.
I believe there are powerful ideological forces working to reshape America. From a biblical worldview, I believe the ideas behind Islam — like the ideas behind Marxism and communism — stand fundamentally opposed to biblical understandings of human freedom, the dignity of the individual made in God’s image, and the proper relationship between God and government.
As I listened in that hearing, I wondered how we got here, where we have an active radical terror group operating freely under the guise of religious freedom in our nation. And a hearing that only garnered the interest and concern of one Senator of the committee. Who will stop these radicals? Who is doing something about this threat?
While the answer is multifaceted, one answer hits close to home. Millions of Christians do not vote. Others vote but never become involved in a civic action again. We watch school boards make decisions affecting our children, but never attend a meeting. We complain about the government while never meeting or engaging the people who govern us. We lament cultural change but remain silent while we let others shape the culture.
We pray — and don’t misunderstand me–prayer is absolutely essential and powerful— but sometimes we use prayer as our last action instead of looking at ourselves to take action as the answer to that prayer.
Intercessors for America has always believed that informed intercession matters. We’re about news, prayer, and action. We don’t want Christians to know what is happening in our government and nation, so we can become angry or fearful about it. We want to know what is happening so we can pray accurately and act faithfully.
Our prayer should lead us to ask a personal question: Lord, what are You asking me to do?
Here is where I believe He is leading us, and I want to be specific rather than vague:
- Read the testimony yourself. The written testimony from this hearing is public record. Click here to view the video and transcript of the hearing. Don’t rely on headlines or secondhand summaries — go to the source. This is information you are not hearing from mainstream media sources. It is important to know the full picture of the move of the Muslim Brotherhood in our nation. We must be aware of what is happening in our nation so that our prayers and actions are most effective.
- Know who represents you at every level, and communicate with them often (and politely!).
- Pay attention to down-ballot races, not just presidential politics. The networks discussed in this hearing are building influence through school boards, city councils, state legislatures, and, increasingly, statewide and federal campaigns. Christians who only engage every four years cede that ground by default. Your action opportunities are abundant when you consider that town council meetings, school board hearings, and more are ways you can go and represent your biblical and conservative values. Plenty of progressives do!
- Pray specifically and by name — for the brave witnesses and experts who speak out on these issues, for the senators on the committee, and for the officials at every level who are making decisions to allow these ideologies to grow within our nation—or to challenge them where they are counter to our Constitution.
- Don’t let “nothing” be your answer. Maybe God is asking you to attend a school board meeting. Maybe it’s contacting a member of Congress. Maybe it’s running for office yourself, or supporting someone willing to run. Maybe it’s simply becoming informed enough to recognize what’s happening around you. The answer will not be the same for everyone. But for the Church at large, it cannot be nothing. The nation needs our perspective, our prayer, our voice, and our action.
Sitting in that front row, praying only a few feet away, I was reminded that history is often made in rooms like these that most Americans never see. It doesn’t always arrive with flashing lights announcing that “history-making has begun.” Each of us is given an opportunity to decide whether we will simply observe what is happening — or answer the call to become involved, moved by the responsibility of every citizen to participate in government as our founders designed. History is made every day—not just by Congressional leaders or elected officials, but by the regular and courageous participation of everyday citizens like you and me.

I am a blood-bought redeemed by Jesus child of our Most High God. Because those of us that believe and know that fact, we have resurrection power inside of us. Our prayers are heard! We are ONE NATION UNDER GOD and no other power in heaven or on earth will shake that fact IF WE STAND TOGETHER AND PRAY! I am always praying Jesus, shine Your spotlight on the rats and expose them and their agenda to the light of day. To be aware and know how to pray is the first part of this spiritual warfare. God is not surprised. He is on the throne and His perfect plan is unfolding before our very eyes. Amen. Come Lord Jesus!
I’m trying to tell all my friends, especially church friends that we have to wake up and become informed and even speak up and take action. They know me to be outspoken about important issues. I have also gone in to meet with my pastor who is absolutely silent about Christians engaging in the culture, saying this past Sunday that “our role as Christians is to build the church, not change the culture.”! I 100% disagree. We need to get out of the church and go preach and teach and love folks, being salt and light as Jesus told us we are! Church has become a comfort zone for many believers, not a place to get equipped and propelled into ministry.
Sorry this is a bit off topic. I do speak with them about Sharia law being something that is seeking to come to a neighborhood near you. My 2 daughters live near Dallas (1 in Dallas), and there is a large Islamic population on the north side of Dallas seeking to create their own Islamic geographical territory there. I’m sure Ted Cruz is familiar with this and knows of it’s encroachment.
I tutor students and had 2 students who attended a Somali/Arabic charter school in Minneapolis and who were being brain-washed about why it’s important for them to become Global Islamists seeking to dominate and rule the world! I’m not kidding! And these are kids (3rd gr & 7th grade). I gave them many things to think about that are inconsistent with their “religion”, including what does the Muslim religion have to do with Communism? Well, if one doesn’t know that by now, then you have a lot of catching up to do. The Red and the Green are now partnering to accomplish their own objectives. However, the radical Global Arabists are going to eat the Commies for lunch, and then the rest of us at the rate we’re going.
I am praying in Jesus’ name against this growing radical Islamism and Sharai law to be stopped and brought into the light because of the shed blood of Jesus Christ. We must bind these Global Islamic and radical Muslim Brotherhood spirits and bring them to the cross for Jesus to send them where they need to go. I stand firm on the purposes that our founding fathers ordained for our nation. I choose to pray daily against these dark spirits that they be bound and brought to justice and judgment in Jesus’ name. Join me?

Thank you, Kris, for this report and the challenge you put to us. Father, I pray you would touch each heart and open us to not just pray but to act. Open our eyes to what is really going on. May we not bury it because we don’t want to hear. Life is too comfortable to be disturbed by facts! I praise you, Lord, that you desire to save us. Give us that same desire.
I have known for years of the Muslims intent for world dominance and understood/seen how they are executing that plan. I’ve shared with as many people as possible. When our government representatives keep moving left looking like Middle Eastern people who openly express anti-American ideology then Black/Caucasian/Hispanic representatives join them, and our State/local representatives are doing likewise. Even bringing in to our government leaders to function in office along side of them with the same anti-American ideology and beliefs, I know we’ve been infiltrated and pray to God daily for heaven to invade earth, for exposure, for angelic help to strike the mark, for these people to be unseated and replaced by those who will do God’s will/our constitution, for there to be a changing of the guard, for awakening, for revival, for transformation, for reformation, for explosions of faith in Jesus Christ/a global warming to the word of God! Only God can preserve this nation and Israel!
Heavenly Father, I lift up Senator Ted Cruz to You. I thank You for his boldness and for his discernment and wisdom. Keep him clear-minded and steadfast. As for the missing legislators, convict them of their negligence; and if it is cowardice, probe their consciences. You know the plots and strategies of those who want to remake America contrary to our heritage. Help Your people to Stand and Withstand this evil infiltration. In JESUS’ all-powerful Name!

I wish I could get it through peoples heads that Islam is no different than communism or socialism. Islam creates laws that contradict the laws of our nation and the norms of our society and culture. Islam regulates the lives of it’s citizens, enslaves parts of the population, tells the citizens where to live, how to live, worship their leader and obey his directives. Children of Islam are used as pawns in its agenda of world domination. Islam is a cruel and very regulatory government which is named a religion because Americans are very sensitive about religion even though America is becoming more secular than religious. The laws of our constitution and nation that insure our freedom come from the God of Israel. God does not dictate every thing we do. We are able to choose to follow and obey without fear of death , persecution, imprisonment, or harassment. If we break a written law of our nation we will be punished appropriately without barbaric cruelty. People Please pay attention and see the reality of what is happening, we need to act now. Father, give us clear discernment how to pray, when to speak, when not to speak, and the ability to use God given wisdom in every situation where we see red flags or have deep concerns , Give discernment and divine protection.

My burden is for the pastors in our churches that are not speaking truth regarding what’s going on in the world around us. What an awesome platform they have and they are not using it.

Some months ago, I began to call people who might have knowledge of how to refute Islam wanting to take over property in Key areas of our neighborhood.
I called a lady who is very well known, and was surprised that she herself answered the phone.
She fought the Islamic element in our nation that wanted to build a mosque on top of 911, if you can imagine that. And she won.
She told me that it cost her everything, her and her family.
She said that her son was going to a medical school for doctors in TENNESEE. She said out of all of the students in that class that her son was the only American. All of the other students were Islamic. Foreign born). She told me then, that they are infiltrating everywhere in every part of society. And most of us don’t even have a clue.
I pray for the Lord to guide us and lead us and for Holy Spirit intercession to come forth from the church, and those the Holy Spirit is calling to be on school boards and city councils, and to run for office that it will absolutely happen in Jesus name.
Everyone in the church I attend is aware….. our church belongs to CUFI .
Everyone is on board to pray for Israel and the US.
And our community. Living in the Pacific Northwest the enemy is in so many different places. The occult not just Islam . And political leaders.

Thank you so much for this article! I watched that hearing and appreciated the 3 witnesses who were bold in speaking about the threat of radical Islam in our nation. It was very eye opening. Within a couple of days, I also received an email from a friend which contained the documentary done by Glenn Beck called “The Jihad From Within.” Also very informative and deeply concerning. I have been praying and asking the Lord specifically what He would have me to do about this threat in my sphere of influence. Prayer must be our first weapon but we must also act!! I’m praying the church will wake up to push back this evil ideology.
I agree wholeheartedly with you, Kris, and I have been talking about this myself. I have never witnessed all the blind eyes and deaf ears of professing Christians. This situation has grieved me so much that when I read the Bible, it is if I am seeing American written on the pages instead of Israel. I was just talking to Abba about it before reading your article. I feel like Jeremiah the weeping prophet, and I’m not a prophet. I will continue to pray, post on my Facebook page, speak out, and share in my blogs. This is a spiritual war, so we fight with spiritual weapons. Together we stand.

This scripture stood out to me in Ephesians 2 yesterday. I will be praying against the Prince of the Power of the Air. I will also be seeking the Lord on what I can do besides sharing information on social media to my brothers and sister in Christ. Not only does the information need to go out – we need the Lord to cause the people’s hearts (our hearts) to burn with a fiery response. Thank You all for watching and praying.

Our Father in Heaven, we pray and intercede for all Muslims to have an encounter with You, the One True God! A revelation of Your truth, so that they will believe in Jesus, and be born again. Bring revival to their hearts, souls, and lives by the power of the Holy Spirit.
“Unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God…that whoever believes in Him, should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that WHOEVER believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:3,15,16
“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that ANY should perish but that ALL should come to repentance.”

I listen to the entire excellent hearing . what are the names of the Republican senators and their state represented that also did not attend? I think their absences are equally important .
Maybe, just maybe, all is playing out for the complete obliteration of the United States of America as prophesied in Jeremiah 50 and 51 and Revelation 18. America goes Muslim and turns against Israel, no longer under the protection of God, and is wiped out in just one hour by nuclear warheads.
I would challenge that interpretation as we shouldn’t make explicit where God’s word isn’t. The most telling related thing here is that Netanyahu said Israel was willing to go it alone against Iran, and THAT fits the Biblical prophesy, whether the USA is Islamic or not (very hard to imagine, but it could definitely happen unless the next generation wises up and learns history before it repeats itself on our soil.) American, bless God.
Praying for Americans to pray to God to maintain our culture and the Judaio/Christian faith and to keep practicing it while
converting non-believers. Pray that we maintain our Faiths and culture in government and important aspects of American life. Tell the truth about organizations & religions that do not have America’s best interests in mind and plans.
The pulpits in our Christian Churches must be informed and instructing their attendees about this political ideology and telling the truth about Islam.
My personal experience as a Christian when I comment to my fellow Christians about how Islam is moving in our country they respond “God got this”.
There is a lot of ignorance in the Body of Christ.
We pray Lord that the pastors will wake up and put their fears apart and that they will instruct of what is going on in the country and how this political ideology wants to take over .
The church must arise from the dormant spirit that has trap them.
We bind the enemy in his attempt of taking over this Nation in Jesus Name we pray.

I totally respect what the two gentlemen have written. y position is that if we, the people, spent as much time insisting that our children be taught the H I S T O R Y of the land of the free and the home of the brave – the founding documents and what was given that we may have the freedom we Americans have enjoyed- they’d be able to see the indoctrination is not what they are lead to believe it is…ask the “liberals” to show you one country which practices what they are proclaiming whose people enjoy what America offers. Why are there so many immigrants from countries where their “beliefs” are practiced?
Yes, that means time-consuming things (but playing phone/computer games/sports and the like USE valuable hours) like being present at school board meetings, writing to those who have said that if they were voted in they would be “of the people, for the people, by the people” (which the above article demonstrates they are not OR they would have wanted to be present to listen to learn what was being presented.. and asking for solid written answers – not the “oh, just send her letter #? and she’ll be satisfied that I received her letter and am responding.” We need (not just want) but like any credible teacher – to require that they present an answer that shows they have understood the concern and question you have raised.
We need MEN to be MEN as God ordained: PROTECTORS of the freedoms God has granted: life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Yes, like it is essential for us to read and study the Old Testament so we see the foretelling of what is to (and did) happen in the New Testament…our younger generation needs to read and understand HISTORY (the story of Him who is sovereign) to be able to see and be able to address the events going on in our country from a knowledgeable (one that has learned the who, what, when, why and how) mindset.
Recent statistics say that only 1 of 3 Christ followers do their responsibility. Americans, & especially the church ,need to be much more educated about Islam. Islam is NOT a religion. It is a very violent POLITICAL ideology totally dedicated to infiltrate, attack & conquer every nation in the world. They do have a religious arm, but that isn’t their primary concern. The Qu’ran is both violent & radical in content, so there is no such thing as “radical” Islam, as if there was such a thing as “non-radical” Islam.. If they are true to their “bible”, There isn’t! Everyone also needs to understand Taqiyya. This is standard practice & highly encouraged for Muslims. It permits overt lying in regard to anything that might question or oppose Islam. Although primarily political rather than religious, knowing about the First Amendment & the theoretical protections for religion, they use Taqiyya to claim the benefits of religion to further their demonic intentions to divide, conquer & take control. There are dozens of social media posts by their leaders & CAIR that clearly state their intentions. Years ago, well before Covid I read a comment on a webpage that the Democratic party was started by an Illuminati. The name of the person was not given.
