Next month, children across America will begin returning to school. How will the Supreme Court’s recent decision in Mahmoud v. Taylor affect their classes and learning experience?

As IFA reported, the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 in Mahmoud v. Taylor that parents “have the right to opt their children out of school lessons promoting the LGBTQ+ agenda.” Montgomery County Public Schools, the district represented in the case, hadn’t initially offered the plaintiffs, religious parents, opt-out options.

In a recent article published by The Epoch Times, Nate Kellum, senior counsel for the First Liberty Institute, explained what schools may look like following the high court’s decision:

Kellum said there will likely be questions about activities outside the classroom, like morning announcements, school-wide assemblies, and displays. If those events are planned ahead of time and potentially interfere with a family’s religious exercise, the school is obligated to provide advance notice and the option not to attend.

Questions will also emerge about age and grade level. While advance notice is a reasonable request, it’s also reasonable to expect that older students are less impressionable, so families should act in good faith before taking actions against their school, Kellum said.

Still, given that the Supreme Court establishes the law of the land, families who are not granted the appropriate accommodations as stated by that federal branch have a “slam dunk” case, he said, adding that he anticipates some lawsuits across the nation in the coming months as the parameters of this federal court decision are fleshed out.

Meanwhile, the Times notes that Montgomery County Schools will provide “further guidance to parents” ahead of the start of the school year.

The Supreme Court’s decision is a huge win for parents and families across the nation, but those who wish to target children likely won’t give up easily. It remains to be seen how the upcoming fall semester will play out, but it seems fair to expect that LGBTQ+ activists will still try to target and manipulate kids in new, more sophisticated ways.

As America’s children return to school, let’s pray. Let’s pray that they are protected from all forms of indoctrination, and that ill-intentioned teachers and activists would not be able to influence them.

PTL! This is a step in the right direction; however, parents must be willing to go further by removing their students from public schools to ensure their children are learning truth, not being indoctrinated.
There are many other areas where our children are being misled, and the Lord has charged parents with teaching their children HIS precepts day and night.
When science classes are evolution based, ‘sex ed’ comes from an amoral position, history has been rewritten to exclude our Christian heritage, Christmas can’t be celebrated but Halloween can, and so on, a public school education is in conflict with Bible based Christianity, and while there are many godly teachers and administrators within the system, they are required to use curriculim which does support Biblical standards.
It would be impossible and unreasonable to expect non believers to teach and follow the Bible because they do not have the Holy Spirit to enlighten their understanding; therefore the only viable answer for Christian parents who want their children to learn truth, is to find education options which support Biblical values.

I think you meant to say, “they are required to use curriculum which does (NOT) support Biblical standards.”

How I wish the enemy would give up! But he does not, so therefore we must not. He instead will double-down, employ different strategies, seek to target the most vulnerable with his deceit and lies, and if possible continue to devour our children – if we do not double-down, employ God’s strategies, speak truth, and protect our children from becoming sacrificial lambs. Sad-to-say, but most of what is learned in school is not taught, it is caught – and that cannot be pre-planned – it simply happens. It comes at our children from many sources, not just teachers but peers, curriculum sources, etc. May parents have great wisdom and faith in regard to their children’s education. Truth and morality cannot be legislated by our government.

Lord, we pray that there would be boundaries drawn within classrooms that would limit teachers & allow them to teach only specific things such as to respect each other’s differences, to use their manners, to be kind to each other & all living things, to obey the laws of the land, the golden rule, & never to bully, harass, mock or tease others because of their differences. Because it’s our differences that make our world unique & special. Until we able to acknowledge that we all have these things in common with each other, we’ll continue to be at odds with one another. Lord, help us all see that we are more alike that we are different & we all want the same thing! To live in peace & unity with one another! In Jesus name! Amen!

Deborah, I respectfully disagree with your contention that “we are more alike than we are different & we all want the same thing.” The values you desire to be taught are worthy goals – your ‘such as’ list – and are the very things I prioritized as a K teacher. However, what we are dealing with is not just an issue of considering how we are different and alike. It is a clash of the Kingdom of God and the “k”ingdoms of men, and these differences do not make our world unique and special – they make it a battleground. I for one, do not want our children to be the collateral damage in this war True Godly unity can never come when we succumb to the temptation to seek unity through compromise of the Truth.

Lord please protect our children from this evil and expose all darkness to be replaced with your light. In Jesus name we pray.
