I Prayed have prayed
Father, help us to trust You even when it feels painful. In the midst of our struggles help us to draw closer to You.
Reading Time: 2 minutes

Elijah was burned out, completely exhausted, and Queen Jezebel had just threatened his life. Elijah told God, “The people of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword, and I, even I only, am left, and they seek my life, to take it away” (1 Kings 19:10). He was scared, stopped trusting in God and felt alone. It was time to quit.

Christians can find themselves in similar dreary places where we have no control over our circumstances. In the midst of stress and faulty introspection, we may believe we’re not making a difference. . . .

Living by faith

When we feel this way, we must remember that God doesn’t always allow His servants to see the results of their work. He may do so, but when He doesn’t, He wants us to walk by faith. When we walk only by sight, we lose the ability to trust God. But when we trust in His plan for our lives, His words will not be in vain (Isaiah 55:11).

The Lord responded to Elijah in 1 Kings. He didn’t speak through the mighty power of nature but rather in a whisper.  . . .

Trusting God’s provision

During difficult times, I remember how God has shown up for me and my family. Like millions around the world, we have faced tremendous challenges in our lives, ministry and work. But God has provided for our needs during these times. That helps me to realize what it means to walk by faith, recognizing that my sufficiency comes from the Lord. . . .

As I am trusting God, I don’t fear what the future holds. Instead, I open my heart and ask, “What would You like me to do next?” I hope you will ask that question for yourself, too.

Isaiah 55:11 has lifted my spirit. I was trusting in my own plan and forgot my life verse: Proverbs 3:5,6. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.” Now I will ask, “Lord, what would You have me do next?” Thank you for the reminder.

Dear Lord, the world has become so corrupt, and the problems we all face so great that that it would be folly to expect any person or nation to set everything straight. We are now at a point where our faith will be tested in a way not seen since the darkest persecutions of old Rome. Lord be a beacon to us in these darkening days, and guide us on the road ahead, for surely we will not make it through this journey without You. In Jesus precious name I pray O’ Lord, Amen.

I love everything about this message. “God doesn’t always allow His servants to see the results of their work.” This truth has played out throughout time. I think of the “Greats” of the Bible who heard but never saw God’s promise. Read Psalm 105, read Hebrews 11, read His Word and know “you can trust God, don’t fear what the future holds, open your heart and ask…What would You like me to do next? Ask this question for yourself!” Yes, and Amen Sami Yacoub.

Your thoughts are not our thoughts. Your ways are not our ways. Let us seek Your ways and know Your accomplishments, Your achievements, Your purposes. You do all things well! Your plans are for our good! You bring us near to establish us in righteousness. Let us trust You and seek You and never give up or wear out! We will praise you eternally!

At the time I was going through past events I did not always see God’s hand in my circumstances. Now after growing in my Christian walk with Him…I can look back and see how God was with me all along carrying me through it all. He even provided protections around me when I was not aware of it. Because I am still here I know that God is still in the miracle working business of bringing everything together for his glory and purpose. Thank you Lord God for always being there for me and watching over me even when I was not aware. I
n Jesus name. Amen.
