On this episode of The Federalist Radio Hour, Michelle Easton, president of The Center for Conservative Women, joins Culture Editor Emily Jashinsky to discuss her new bookĀ āHow to Raise a Conservative Daughter.ā
āI think a key part of today is that many parents donāt realize how powerful social media is. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat theyāre immensely influential and a lot of parents fail to filter, restrict it in any way. You canāt cut it out totally, but you can limit it,ā Easton said. āYou can limit it because so much of what kids are learning, theyāre learning on social media.ā
Parents, Easton said, must be intentional and teach their children how to have real-world conversations to combat leftist narratives.
āThereĀ areĀ stepsĀ alongĀ theĀ wayĀ toĀ getĀ herĀ beingĀ thoughtful,Ā toĀ getĀ herĀ thinkingĀ aboutĀ theĀ issues,Ā andĀ itāsĀ notĀ assumingĀ thatĀ sheāsĀ goingĀ toĀ beĀ conservativeĀ becauseĀ youĀ are,ā Easton said. āTalkĀ throughĀ it.
ItāsĀ askingĀ herĀ questions,Ā especiallyĀ understandingĀ rightĀ nowĀ andĀ thisĀ time,Ā theĀ differencesĀ betweenĀ menĀ andĀ women.Ā AndĀ ifĀ sheās blessedĀ withĀ marriageĀ andĀ child, itāsĀ somethingĀ wonderful. ItāsĀ notĀ aĀ burden.ā . . .
