How to Intercede in the Face of Injustice
How can we persevere in prayer in the face of rampant injustice in our country today?
For the intercessors who have been painstakingly pleading battle-tested prayers for this nation and are still travailing for desirous outcomes, it is nearly inescapable that battle-worn weariness can set in. But the apostle Paul promises: As long as we don’t give up, we will reap a great harvest (Galatians 6:9 NET).

Many prophetic watchmen on the walls thundered that 2023 would be a year of great shaking and that deeply embedded corruption would be exposed. It certainly seems those projections were spot on. Likewise, these gifted prophets anticipated that 2024 would be a year of retribution and that the justice of the Lord would be levied against lawlessness and deception, particularly in the second half. O Lord, may it be so!
These prophetic proclamations serve as fuel for the intercessors’ engine rooms because these many years of toiling on our knees have necessitated long-suffering in the face of seemingly unending injustice.
Habakkuk asked the same question in 7th century BC that many of us are asking today.
Why do You force me to witness injustice? Why do You put up with wrongdoing? For this reason the law lacks power, and justice is never carried out. Indeed, the wicked intimate the innocent. For this reason, justice is perverted (From Habakkuk 1:3 and 4 NET)
A Lowering Tide Lowers All Ships
Rudy Giuliani, the iconic former Mayor of New York City who rid the streets of crime and was a hero after 9/11, was recently fired by ABC Radio for discussing the 2020 election on his show. Best-selling author and syndicated radio host, Eric Metaxas is being sued by Dominion Systems because a guest on his show raised credible evidence of serious vulnerabilities in the election machines and systems.
When over half of this country believes the U.S. election process is not trustworthy, it seems to be a gross injustice to censor and punish those who want to talk about it.
Countless Americans were fired from their jobs because they did not deem the mRNA shot safe or effective. Now that Pfizer was forced to release their trial studies and the findings are unconscionably alarming, the mounting statistics reveal that vaccine injury and death are now a worldwide problem. Additionally, the once touted Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca vaccines have been removed from nearly all markets due to serious side effects.
Where is the justice for those who died, were injured, or fired?
As hardworking citizens watch mob after mob walk into department stores, steal as much as they can, and walk out with no fear of intervention, the obvious question arises: Is there no justice?
When college campuses erupt in vandalizing, antisemitic protests while the administrators and faculty remain silent, can you hear the cries of our Jewish brothers and sisters bellow throughout the land?
When innocent people who broke no laws at the Capitol on January 6 had their doors battered down by heavily armed FBI agents, can you imagine their desperate pleas for justice from their dank, deplorable cells?
The systemic lawlessness at our southern border is a travesty of justice and our government is culpably complicit. Children are being trafficked, women are being raped in the jungles of the Darien Gap, millions of migrants are secretly placed by the government in locations across the country, the cartels of Central America are flush with money and power, and fentanyl overdose is now the leading cause of death in 18-40-year-olds.
The list is endless, but the facts are clear: The people of God are watching our country decline, our fellow man suffer, and our government aiding and abetting blatant injustice.
Notice how Federalist Paper No. 51 describes the role of government specific to justice:
“Justice is the end [ultimate role] of government. It is the end of civil society. It ever has been and ever will be pursued until it is obtained, or until liberty be lost in the pursuit.”
It is heartbreaking that many of our government leaders today are bereft of the common ethos our Founders shared.
Where is justice, O God?
Words Matter
In biblical Hebrew, the words used for justice are defined as what is right, righteous, just, and normal. It means the act of deciding a case or decreeing an ordinance. It can also mean being honest and accurate when dealing with weights and measures. All three primary words used in the Old Testament for justice connote covenant. This means adhering to the law of the land is important, but not as important as following the rules of the covenant.
For I the Lord love justice (Isaiah 61:8 NIV).
We should be keenly aware that a common practice of cultural Marxism is to hijack language to confuse people’s ability to communicate clearly. They do this by subtly muddling the definition of commonly held words. The word justice needs no prefix or qualifier and stands wholly on its own. Justice is not only something The Lord does — Justice is who He is.
The Lord is a God of justice (Isaiah 30:18 NIV).
If a dozen people were asked, “What does social justice mean?,” be prepared for 13 different answers. Addled phrases like climate justice, gender justice, and racial justice are intentionally constructed to flummox the virtuous and wreak societal havoc. Justice is the only word we need because when justice is sought, every injustice is made liable.
How then shall we pray for justice? More so, how shall we pray in the face of so much injustice?
Are the Wicked Really Prospering?
In Psalm 73, Asaph deals directly and honestly with this question. He laments that God’s people unfairly suffer while the wicked seem to flourish. He envies the prosperity of the wicked because they don’t seem to undergo the troubles common to God’s people. And since it appeared that God is allowing it, Asaph concluded that his sacrificial lifestyle was done in vain and he was strangely being punished for it.
But the Lord reveals to us the truth of the matter. Asaph continues his musings of the wicked:
When I tried to understand all of this, it troubled me deeply. Until I entered the sanctuary of God; then I perceived their end.
You indeed put them on slippery ground, You dropped them into ruin. How they are destroyed in a moment! They are utterly swept away by sudden terrors! Like a dream when one awakes, Lord, when stirred, You will despise their image (vv. 16-20 NASB).
Here, the Lord reveals to us the key to maintaining faithful intercession while wickedness and lawlessness appear to prevail. We have to gain heaven’s vantage and see the evildoers as they truly are.
Those who are far from You will perish (v. 27 NIV).
As we continue to intercede in spiritual warfare against the unseen realms, we can also perceive the clenching grip of evil that besets those who promulgate wickedness. We are then moved to pray for their deliverance, repentance, and restoration.
Asaph demonstrates for us that the only way to be an effectual intercessor is to first quiet our thoughts, enter the holy place, and worship the Lord until our heart beats as one with His.
Father, may we never grow weary of contending for your grace and goodness upon our land. Jesus, may we stand confident in the power of Your resurrection until the reconciliation of all things is complete. Holy Spirit, may we intercede in these dark days with the full measure of Your Gifts and power. All for the glory of God in our day.

Hope…..
Father….YOU are our God of justice… Help us to be listening to YOU Father as to what you want ME to do…Oen hearts to Holy Spirit….In Jesus Name we pray….Amen
Thank you, God bless you. So true, powerful and encouraging.
Father, thank you for this encouragement. May we look to the unseen which is eternal instead of to the seen which is temporal. May we be faithful to stand in you and pray, not giving way to the pattern of the world, but holding onto you.
Psalm 83
O God, do not keep silent; be not quiet, O God, be not still. See how your enemies are astir, how your foes rear their heads. With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish. “Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel be remembered no more.”
Our Father in Heaven, Please return all the hostages to their families. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Heavenly Father, we must have the help of the Holy Spirit to pray according to your will, never leaning to our own understanding. It is only by your Spirit indwelling your children that we can lay aside our anger, and disturbed hearts and minds, the revealing of such lawlessness and injustice in our own government, resist slander and pick up your shield of faith, take the sword of the Spirit….Your Word….and go after the strongholds that will be torn down by You. You are the same God who defeated armies seeking to destroy Your Israel, Your people, Your ways, and You won every battle for those who cried out to You for help, for victory. Open our eyes to see Your victory again and usher in the harvest of souls before the coming of Christ Jesus to take the church up with You. We call upon the power of Jesus Christ to make us vessels of prayer, of honor, or resolution to keep Your Word hidden in our hearts that we might not sin against you. Help us, Oh God of Heaven’s Armies.
Amen and amen!
American Christians, stand up and, after deep and sincere prayer, act out and speak out your Christian values and why they’re right and the only way to a fulfilled life. No more remaining in your church in silence. No more passivity. We are God’s people for such a time as this. Esther 4: 13,14 “ AndMordecai told them to answer Esther: Do not think in your heart that you will escape in the king’s palace any more than all the other Jews. For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this? “ The times we are living in declare this same message to all Christians !! Do we want to follow what the German churches did before World War 2 or do we want to arise and obey what God has laid on our hearts and do it now ? The time is NOW beloved ones.
Amen and Amen!
A wonderful treatise. Thank you for so eloquently sharing the thoughts and emotions we prayer warriors are going through. This reading encouraged me to continue interceding and it built up my faith. Thank you so much for sharing this. God bless you.
A wonderful treatise. Thank you for so eloquently sharing perfectly the thoughts and emotions we pray warriors are going through. This reading encouraged me to continue interceding, and it built up my faith. Thank you so much for sharing. God bless you.
“Words Matter” Oh yes, they do!
Hebrews 4:12-13 For the word of God is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the ideas and thoughts of the heart. No creature is hidden from Him, but all things are naked and exposed to the eyes of Him to whom we must give an account.
Jesus said, “… men will give an account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken…by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matthew 12: 36-37
“If you love Me, you will keep My commands. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever. He is the Spirit of truth. The world is unable to receive Him because it doesn’t see Him or know Him. But you do know Him, because He remains with you and will be[b] in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I am coming to you.” John 14:15-18
Dear Lord and God Almighty, Your Word is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword. It penetrates as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. Your Word is able to judge the ideas and thoughts of the heart. Nothing is hidden from You, all things are naked and exposed to You and one day, we will all give an accounting to You. I pray this morning for Your Word to penetrate the stoney hearts so prevalent today. I pray in this day, You will lead us all to crave Your Word, know Your Word and proclaim Your Word over the lawlessness surrounding us. This is Pentecost. We love You. We seek Your commands. We pray for the Spirit of Truth. We see You Lord. We know You. Remain with us and fill the mouths and prayers of every son and daughter. Thanks to You Jesus, we are not orphans! I ask this and so much more in Your Mighty Name. Amen
Thank you for this article. Patience and trust in God are required. We know He hears us. Amen
Well said.
O praising You Lord always praising You
John 15.7 tells us You can only hear prayers from a PURE HEART and in
OBEDIENCE
This requires we teach we have
FREE WILL
Keith! I loved this article and then I see you wrote it. Of course you did! Thank you.
We just keep praying because we know the fervent prayers of a righteous person are effective. And because we know our Heavenly Father loves us and hears us and gives us whatever we ask if we are abiding in Him. He will bring His perfect justice and He will strengthen us and keep us under the shelter of His wings.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL. WE ARE ENCOURAGED TO WAIT FOR THE LORD TO SEE MIRACLES AND WONDERS. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION AND PRAYER.
Abba Father, forgive me for being lax for dragging my feet to intercede for justice, your justice.
Thank you that your power is readily accessible when we join with your Holy Spirit to intercede before your throne for justice.
In Jesus’s name Amen and hallelujah!
Amen 🙏! This says it all! Stand for Christ during these dark days. He is our ultimate light and guidance!
Thank you Keith Guinta and IFA for this timely drink of refreshing waters. This encouragement in our Lord and His Word is life giving and revives our spirit. We may at times grow weary seeing the injustice that is all around but, we will not despair for “We remain confident of this, we will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living”, Psalm 27:13
I pray that we will be more encouraged in the Word of God and the counsel of Holy Spirit to press on interceding for the Glory of our Lord and His righteous justice. Amen
Excellent article, Keith! Such an encouragement!
Lord, help us keep worshipping You, declaring Your kingdom to come on earth as it is in heaven, speaking up for Your values in our spheres of influence! Rend the heavens and come down, Lord! Burn up Your enemies! Release Your Justice and salvation in the land! In Jesus name – AMEN
Thank you, Keith Guinta, for the thoughtful written clarity you bring to these times. We trust in God, our Savior, to prevail over evil.
The song Prisoner of Hope recorded by Bill Gaither Vocal Band years ago strengthens the soul in this season.
This article is an excellent summary of our nation’s situation, a Biblical view of the believer’s heart cry, and the beautiful hope God gives when we again turn our eyes to Him!
It’s so encouraging to know others are praying these truths, too!
We are living in the End Times. Everything in this world that can be shaken, is being shaken. Satan and his minions are working overtime, as they know their time is short. It is time for God’s children to rise up, and take authority over the evil, dark spiritual forces. This is our only hope. Lord Jesus, I swing the Sword of the Spirit upon the head of Leviathan, and all of the deceptive, deceived spirits that are wielding their influence over out nation and world. I bind these spirits in the mighty name of Jesus. I loose a spirit of Truth, integrity, and goodness upon our nation and world. Thank you, Jesus.
He who scoffs at his enemy’s demise will suffer greatly; so says the prophet Habakkuk.
https://theprayersentry.com/2024/05/18/prophet-minstrel-an-ode-v-4/
Everyone, I am not saying I am right, but look at the next verse in Habbakuk 1:5.
The Lord responds to his prayer. What is the response? Behold, the Lord brings a downfall to the Jewish people. This is God‘s pattern. We should pray that this correction and period of judgment will be short lived, and that we would listen to the rebuke, the Lord is bringing.
Again, I could be wrong.
Yessir. God told Hababkkuk he would not believe what he was going to do. He would use a godless nation to discipline his people.
We need to appeal to ALMIGHTY GOD in the Courts of Heaven.
We are to present our plea to ALMIGHTY GOD not only as Our Father, nor as Our Savior, but as THE JUDGE OF THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE.
The battle is not between human beings.
The battle is between the devil and ALMIGHTY GOD.
If the situation contravenes the Holy Scripture then it is an attack against ALMIGHTY GOD.
We need to know our Heavenly Father as JUDGE OF THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE.
What does GOD’s WORD say?
Ask in accordance with HIS WORD WHICH IS HIS LAW–HIS WILL!
Wow….
Bullseye on all fronts! … the quiver is anointed with the Power from the Holy Spirit – every which way.
Isaiah 55:11. NIV
“so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”
John 1: 1-5
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
And the darkness has not overcome it.
Jesus – darkness never has, is not currently and never will overcome Your light. So be it.

Keith,
thank you for Isaiah 61:8 and
Isaiah 30:18 & psalm 73.
I am copying your article, it is very comforting
I will be visiting your blog site.
Thanks again.

Brother Keith Guinta’s final paragraph before his prayer is the most important one in this article! Our Father is indeed calling each of us closer to quiet OUR thoughts, enter into the Holy Place, WORSHIP until our heart beats as ONE with HIS.
Indeed, then we shall see each issue as He does and hear how we should pray to our Father Who IS JUSTICE, and also MERCY.
This article was a great comfort to read. As we have experienced or witnessed the steady decline of justice in our nation many righteous people have retreated in fear and defeat. I loved Keith’s reference to Asaph… to intercede until our hearts beat with God’s. A beautiful call to prayer and to feel His fortifying strength to persevere.
Jorge Bergoglio has been a major force and promoter of the evils described in this article. Bergoglio proclaimed that we had a moral obligation to get the covid shot and that they “have been proven safe and effective”. Bergoglio has promoted and encouraged the mass illegal immigration invasion in Europe and the United States. Bergoglio slandered anyone who advocated for national secure borders, especially Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign, as “probably not even a Christian”. I pray that the deceived people enslaved by the counterfeit religion Bergoglio heads will receive a true saving knowledge of the glorious gospel of Grace in Christ Jesus.
I know I find myself becoming more and more indignant (angry) and the injustice and lawlesness I see taking place in our once great nation – I see the left getting away with murder and brekaing of our coutnries laws while the right sits by and “does the right thing” I see a good man standing in courtroomms being shut up by a man in a black robe ruling so unfairly and packing the jury and we are left sitting on oru hands – I know it is God’s timing but I have found myself becoming more enraged and 2 tier :justice” system. –
I agree with you, I have the same feelings, but then the Lord says be still and know that I am God! Keep your focus on me only!
Father I pray that we never grow weary and in fact grow stronger in faith that you will be glorified on this earth. Thank you for your Word, which we cling to and feeds us and also for our brothers and sisters to help us. We know you are working all things out and thank you that you are working for justice in ways we cannot even begin to see or understand. All praise and glory to you now and forever. In Jesus most precious name. Amen
Tomorrow is Pentecost Sunday and I pray Father that your Holy Spirit will fall on us as it did your followers in the book of Acts. I pray that there will be a great revival in America and more and more people will awaken and come to you. I pray for Israel as well Father that they will not only be victorious in this current conflict, but that they will recognize you as their Messiah. Help us to be faithful as you are, My Savior and strong and courageous as you instruct. I love you and honor you my Precious Heavenly Father. I pray your will over our lives and I exalt your Name forever. You alone are worthy to be praised.
What this article is about is so what the Christian sees and feels is goingvon all around us. Wickedness is elevated as if God’ Word to us did not exist. It is a sad time for our Country. May we continue to persevere in prayer to our Saviour and Lord, Jesus Christ and cast these cares onto Him for His Justice alone will prevail.
